Hummer to support Oz Strongman Nationals
November 5, 2008 by Matt Brogan
Australia’s strongest men will go head-to-head in the name of the iconic Hummer brand for the national Oz Strongman title this weekend.
For the first time ever, Hummer will support the Oz Strongman Nationals – a contest which pits man against machine in the fight for the Australian title.
More than 38 athletes from around Australia will compete in six disciplines at the Chandler Velodrome in Brisbane this Sunday. Competitors from three classes – Light, Middle and Heavy Weight – will battle it out in world-famous weight challenges designed to test strength, speed, power and endurance.
Oz Strongman Managing Director Chris Andrews said Hummer’s dynamic reputation makes it the perfect partner for the National Championship.
“It makes perfect sense to combine the strengths of the Hummer brand and the Oz Strongman Championship,” he said.“Like the HUMMER H3, our competitors thrive in a challenging environment, have enormous endurance and look pretty powerful too.”
Special guests will feature throughout the day-long event, including local radio identity Shauny Wilson, International IPF Champion Scott Fletcher and international strongman Warrick Brant (pictured).

Arnie will not be impressed by these “Pussies” only using dinky toy like H3’s……. He picks up his H2 and carries it into the Garage…
Suppose it was one way to get rid of excess stock though, and the winner gets paid in Hummer Shares doesn’t he????
is this a sponsorship or a demonstration of what potential owners will have to do when they take these things off road? Hook up a chain and pull the useless sod home after it craps itself at the first sign of an actual obstacle and breaks down.
ur an idiot mate the h3 is amazing off road
I consider Derek Boyer the strongest man/international in Australia….. and i’m sorry but i have never herd of Warrick Brant????? i hope if Australia is getting represented its done buy the best i think these two should have a comp and may the best man win…
Yes Derek was a good strongman a decade ago. He did a lot for the sport. Perhaps one day if he is still competing we will get the chance to go head to head. I know we have both been invited to the USC in December. Hopefully we can do it there.
