2009 Corvette ZR1 Video Review
October 23, 2008 by Alborz Fallah
In what could quite possibly be GM’s final crack at high end, petrol guzzling performance and all out power, the spanking new 2009 Corvette ZR1 has been tested by Motortrend magazine, and all indicators show that it is indeed a vehicle to be taken seriously by both the Europeans, and the Japanese.

Propelling the new ZR1 is a supercharged 6.2 litre LS9 V8 that makes a mammoth 476 kW and 819 N·m of torque, of which can also be found in the new Cadillac CTS-V.
This engine utilises an Eaton roots-type supercharger and features a neat water to air intercooler system that sits individual brick type coolers in each cylinder bank, and can be seen sitting flush through a hole in the sloping bonnet of the ZR1. Click through for the video, and turn the sound up.
Video Review:

no exactly sophisticated but cant deny those numbers!
I love the ZR1 but guys really 3.3 seconds – that would feel slow after climbing out of the Veyron at Full Throttle!
Great car nonetheless and infinitely more affordable.
Before someone asks the question – yes me and my colleagues have driven the Veyron at Full Throttle and its not from this world.
I think if I were to choose between an Mclaren SLR and this, id still get the SLR.
Damn good numbers though…. Oh the sadness of not being rich.
Why are we comparing a $100,000USD car to a million dollar USD Veyron?
I should go over to the GTR review and go “0-100 in 4 seconds without the warranty voiding launch control (see the latest wheels), that would feel slow after getting out of a ZR1!”
RA its not even significantly close in the price range to a Mercedes McLaren, are you people kidding me?
This is by far the best value sports car in the states at the moment, its an absolute shame we will never see it officially sold here, i would go as far as saying this is the best performance car money can buy right now. We know one of the only production cars that can beet it around the nurburgring is the Maserati MC12.
and crouchy, define sophistication? It’s not a rolls royce, its a 1400kg, manual, 476kw, rwd, weapon..
You guys have a short memory…..
We had a oil shock in the past, and no doubt again will have them in the future.
The top end of the market is super strong, these hypo cheaper cars too.
GM keeps building and bettering them, the punters will keep buying them! :-)
Cheers
F-0
another piece of ugly american crap that hasnt changed in decades….and no i dont give a shite about the numbers….
holden should use this engine and bugger off the 427
From the reviews I have seen, the only thing wrong with this car is the interior is a bit drab. Car looks great and goes great.
Id take this over a GTR because even though the GTR has a much nicer inside, this looks alot better from the outside.
Im sure it would sound alot better than a GTR too.
