Lotus Evora orders book open
Lotus Cars Australia has opened its orders book for the Evora V6 sports coupe, expected to land here in late 2009.
The first of three all new Lotus models expected over the coming five years, Evora is heralded as the world’s only 2+2 mid-engined sports car featuring 21st century performance and economy, aiming to strengthen the Lotus brand worldwide.
Powered by a Lotus tuned version of a Toyota 3.3 litre V6, the DOHC unit features variable valve timing and other “specific Lotus enhancements” aimed at improving driviability and response while at the same time upping power and torque figures to 206kW @ 6,400rpm and 342Nm @ 4,700rpm respectively.
Though thoroughly equipped in standard specification, there are three optional packs available that allow personalisation to tailor the Evora for specific tastes and requirements. The packs are detailed as follows:
The Premium Pack - includes accent interior lighting a number of leather trim and matching floor mat colours including Charcoal (black), Paprika (red), Chestnut (tan) and Oyster (magnolia).
The Tech Pack - includes cruise control and parking sensors and an advanced Alpine Imprint EQ stereo that is also a highly functional multi-media system. The Alpine system features a seven-inch touch screen, iPod connectivity, DVD player, Bluetooth hands-free phone compatibility and a low tyre-pressure warning. The system also features satellite-navigation that is removeable, allowing the unit to be used in a pedestrian way independent of the car. A reversing camera is also incorporated into the screen.
The Sport Pack - Designed for the performance driver, with a switchable sport dynamic setting, sports springs and dampers, cross drilled brake discs, upgraded grilles for added cooling and painted brake callipers.
All Evora’s optional packs are available separately or in combination with stand-alone options including the premium Alpine Imprint Dynamic EQ audio system, reversing camera, electric folding mirrors, bi-xenon headlights and forged alloy Stealth grey wheels.
Performance is claimed at 5.0 seconds for the 0-100km/h sprint with a top speed of 256km/h. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.

It’s a shame Telsa Motors aren’t more entwined with this company :)
If this car is anything like the Exige, it will be a great car.

It’s based on essentially the same engine found in Aurion and Kluger meaning it will be 3.5L

Not bad looking car…charcoal wheels would look better I recon…aurion engine a sweet choice…but I would expect higher output from Lotus tuners.

Can Proton make something similar with a $13,990.00 price tag?
They already put the “Engineered by Lotus” badge on all new Protons so it must be the same?

very keen, that design, that price range with 2+2 has got to be a winner, but definitely would have to see and drive it in the flesh before purchase. and yes black/charcoal mags definitely the go…baby yeah
