Infiniti Cars Australia has officially announced its first authorised retail partners in anticipation of the brand’s August launch.

Infiniti has selected three big names in the automotive sales world to cover the east coast – Sydney will be under Suttons Motors Group, Melbourne under Penfold Motors and A.P. Eagers will look after Brisbane.

The Japanese performance luxury car manufacturer says Australia’s first Infiniti Retail Centres will be stand-alone stores styled in-line with Infiniti’s global retail centre design standards with a focus on interior design and overall customer experience. Infiniti says its retail centres will “resemble boutique luxury hotels more than traditional car dealerships.”

While Infiniti Cars Australia’s first retail phase covers Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, plans are already underway to open dealerships in Perth and Adelaide in 2013.

When local sales begin in August, Infiniti will offer the Infiniti FX performance crossover and the Infiniti M sedan, while the Infiniti G Coupe and G Convertible are scheduled to reach Australia in December.

Still no news on pricing? Hope its not going to be Lexus territory.

    • phuong

Well in the US it play in the BMW territory so hope its Lexus money. With lower volume i think it will be pricey.

  • Brendan

Still not happy that they’re not bringing in the M56 sedan with the 5.6L VK56VD (direction injection) 400hp engine.

  • Sebastian, Style Messiah

Bulbous styling and no doubt Lexus like pricing will sink Infiniti in Oz. To stand a chance the pricing has to be less than Lexus. Doing this will undermine Lexus’s market and give volume to Nissan.

  • Ff

Infiniti does not outsell Lexus anywhere..

But who knows, they make score in Australia.

  • Peter

They are actually a lot nicer in the metal.  I see them in Japan a fair bit, they are monumentally better looking than a lexus.  Where lexus shows its Toyota pedigree (in fact I think a lot of Toyotas are nicer looking) the infiniti looks to be a really classy euro style car.  In the UK they are priced up around Jag numbers though, if that is the case here why would you bother?

    • OGC

Agreed. Infiniti is nicer than models from brands like Lexus or Audi, which both show heavy signs of their cheaper siblings.

  • Bob

    Fugly.

    what’s the JX?

    • Sherwin

The SUV you see at the very top of the page.

      • GIG

        That’s FX… JX is a 7 seater crossover.

They definately can’t be more expensive than Lexus. If they’re serious they need to be prepared to be happy breaking even for the next 10 years and establish the brand.

      Spot on Matt!

Infiniti lasted around a year when they previously sold in Australia (around 20 years ago). Wonder whether it will last 2 years, this time around.

Bring in a few of the more powerful and sporty ones of the G series and they would sell rather well, I do believe, although expensive rather expensive too.

  • Sherwin

    Correction, rather expensive.

  • PDP219

The SUV at the top of the page is the FX… Duh. Big differences, the JX is FWD based and the FX is RWD based ;)

  • Ryan

damn,.. i dont mind the FX.. looks like a sweet european designed car.. although its not.. would get it if its around $75k

  • Sally

Having chosen Suttons Infinity obviously want their product whored out with no consequence for customer service

The problem is that Infiniti doesn’t even try and sell much cars.. In comparison to Lexus who strives to become #1 in sales..

Nissans previous effort here with the Infiniti brand will take some overcoming.
At least they were far more reliable than Jaguar which still wears the ” unreliable” tag.
However those who did buy an original Infiniti will no doubt remember the appalling resale for their $110K outlay,a colleague of mine purchased a 12 month old low km Infiniti for less than $40K ,good value but worthless in six years.
As a Lexus owner I’ll watch with interest how the market reacts to the vehicles.

I’ve driven the Australian spec’d Infiniti’s in New Zealand as a precurser their Australian release.  They FX looks awesome in the flesh.  I really didnt like the photos of it at all, once you see it up close and personal, it’s really nice.  Great to drive too.  I hope to buy one of the first FX50s for my wife.
