Fiat has been spied testing its new Doblo model intended to compete in the niche multi-purpose vehicle market alongside the likes of the VW Caddy Life, Citroen Berlingo and Renault Kangoo.

Scheduled to make its debut by 2010, the Doblo will be aimed at the passenger car segment, with a commercial version with a split tailgate should also be available.

It will retain the same basic layout as the current model; however its design will be far more modern.

Speculation surrounding these spy shots suggests the Doblo will retain its two trademark features – the enormous from grille and sliding doors on either side.
