Porsche Cars North America has added a nifty little gadget to its official web site to showcase its new 2009 Porsche 911 sports car.

Potential buyers and dreamers alike can now build their own virtual course and view the new model in all its digital glory.

All they have to do simply sketch out a path on screen which is then instantly rendered into a unique interactive film of a stunning computer-generated silver 911.

“The type and format of the information we provide is what an Internet-savvy user expects from a cutting-edge company like Porsche.”

Along with a host of videos, animations and customisation features, the new site will be promoted extensively in all Porsche advertising material including television and print media.

This new endeavour underlines a growing trend among manufacturers who continue to invest heavily in online media innovation.

Porsche in particular has boosted its online advertising budget by 30 percent – and now represents exactly half its total advertising expenditure each year.

This follows shortly after AMG launched a revolutionary new feature on its website which allowed users to experience a 360 degree view of a live capture drag race.

Much like the old Need for Speed – Porsche (NFS 5) released back in 2000 with every porsche from the ferdinand porsche to the 996 turbo…. Not the first time they’ve done it but the look has improved!
