Stop! Don’t buy a Mazda 2! There is a new one coming out.
The All-new Mazda2 will debut at the 2007 Geneva International Motor Show from the 6 March through Sunday, 18 March.
The current mazda 2 whilst a little out dated, is still one of the best small cars in its class.
Mazda is quick to point out that the all-new Mazda2 is more than just a facelift of the current Mazda2. The Mazda2 will be the first of the current generation Mazdas to get a new model. The rear of the car has some similarities to the Toyota Yaris Hatch!
Mazda has not yet given any more information about the specification of the new Mazda2 but more details will be available on the 6th of March!

I want one, but not green, it looks like a ninja turtle. How much are they? Are Swifts better?

Both the Mazda2 and the Suzuki Swift start at around the same price,
I think the current model Swift is generally a better car than the old Mazda2, basically because the Mazda2 is out dated and also because the swift offers better standard equipment.
The Mazda 2 16,335 - up to ~24,000 with all options?
The Suzuki Swift 15,990 - up to ~22,000 with all options

I like it.
Amanda, my g/friend just bought a Swift and I can say it is a great little car. Very well made, rides and handles well, the manual is nice to use and it feels as though it has a strong body. We’ve only had it for a few weeks but there is nothing to complain about yet, except that she won’t let me drive it!
Haven’t driven a Mazda 2 but I’ve heard they are very good like all Mazdas at the moment.

I drove the Mazda 2
it was good
the back seats of the car had more room than my Impreza! the steering was very very light, which was the case on all the other small cars I drove as well,
The interior is a lot better than the Yaris

come on alborz whats your verdict on its appearence? Alien intervention or not? :)
yup with you on this one steane very nice. This should give the Barina 2 star death trap a run for its money. Nice simple looking design, has some potential for a sporty version.

mazda cant really go wrong atm!
if only it had more fiat punto about it in the grill.
i can only see mazda eating out of barina and whatever fords offering atm (maybe fiesta) market share
In conclusion, the lil fiat punto is damn handsome!

Lazybones, the Aliens have there hands full infiltrating Toyota. The Alien’s in Toyota’s design studio are struggling to keep up with all the fuggly new models they have to create. I think Mazda is safe for a little while yet…unless they start replicating.

It looks so different to the current model. I think the doors including the sloped window lines, ridge lines and back, look very Yarisy.
Will it carry a the same engine? It would be sweet if they brought out a MPS model.

I don’t actually think the Mazda2/3s in the US are built in Japan (not sure on that), hence why they are released first cause as far as I know they are actually built either in the states or in one of the surrounding countries…

Wait ?
If the new 2 is as low as it looks, then that means the end of roomy, small cars with a nice high driving position and great visibility.
There’s plenty of bum on the ground cars already, Jazz, Colt, Swift etc etc.
We took that on board and got ourselves a Maxx at a very nice “run-out” price, so be advised;
if it’s what you want, move quickly, the good pricing is already around and once the current 2 is gone your only option will be a Tiida !

Nice high driving position? Bleach!
I love the current Ford Fiesta, but one of the main reasons I haven’t bought one is because the driving position is too high (it makes me feel like I am driving a car made for grannies). I’ve driven my parents Jazz, and I feel that the front seats are too high in that too, the reason for the poor visibility is the thick C-pillars. The new 2 won’t be as roomy as the current model, but it will have plenty enough room for most. The reason the current model has done poorly is primarily its boxy styling, something the new car will definitely not have a problem with! Hopefully this will be the sporty supermini I have been waiting for, especially if they come out with an SP version (subtle body kit, high revving 1.8 litre motor)!

I only hope its going to be affordable for those who do want it…….

Have ordered a golden yellow Neo with alloys, fog lights, and DSC/Safety pack. Okay, now I have to wait for 8 weeks for one to be delivered. Apparently Mazda dealerships only get to place orders at the end of the month and then it’s another four week wait after all that. So I get my new car in late November or possibly early December. Pretty pathetic really.
Oh well, I guess that I just have to wait patiently and clock up as many miles as I can on my trade in.

Just got the Spirited Green, Neo Auto today. (my first car!) Wont get the car for a few more days, but when compared with the Yaris YRS, it felt more torquey uphill. I felt, the Yaris screamed a little higher and louder than the Mazda.
The interior beats the crap outta the Yaris. Yaris interior looked liked my dads 14 year old Diahatsu Charade. Cloth trim seemed pretty crap for both base models, but I’m gonna get a nice seat cover.
Maxx was an extra 2.2k for me and only giving me a spoiler, 6 CDs stacker, alloys and steering wheel controls.
-Spoiler looked good, but I’ll save that 800 bucks or so.
-6 CD is pretty useless because they all come with MP3 capabilities + They all come with the AUX jack in between the first two seats.
-Alloys, yeah they do look better, but I’m cheap :-)
-Steering wheel controls, I really wanted these…. but when my friend bought the Mazda3 SP23, he never uses it much. Practically, not that useful.
Gonna save up for a real sports car :-)

I have the previous model Mazda2 and I love it. Mazda have lost their way again, by ‘aping’ the styling of the Yaris what they have done is to take a roomy, practical all purpose vehicle (I can easily carry my mountain bike in the back) and turned it into a cramped, impractical little girly racer.
When I replace next year I’ll go for the 2008 Honda Jazz, or see if there’s a Mitsubishi Colt replacement.
Bye bye Mazda, again.
