Mercedes-Benz Celebrates 50 Years in Australia
August 5, 2008 by Alborz Fallah
This July marks 50 years since the official establishment of German luxury brand Mercedes-Benz in Australia. Since its introduction to Australia in July 1958 Mercedes AU has become the world’s 10th largest Mercedes market.
To put the growth into perspective, in 1961 Mercedes sold only 1481 cars and 335 trucks, meanwhile this year should see the German giant move at least 30,000 cars, trucks, vans and buses.
“The last fifty years has seen not only an impressive catalogue of iconic vehicles come from our company but the establishment of a successful enterprise serving so many important customers in this part of the world. From heavy trucks and light vans through to the premium luxury cars the three-pointed star is famous for, Mercedes-Benz has proudly offered many solutions to the needs of the Australian market,” said Wolfgang D. Schrempp, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific.
Here is a big congratulations from all of us here at CarAdvice to the team at Mercedes-Benz Australia.

Anti-spam Word “Daimler”
Suprising to see where Australia sits on the Benz pecking order.
I would have thought we’d be behind all of the European countries and the middle easterners as well.
Good on ‘em!
