Limited Edition Porsche Cayman S Sport
August 5, 2008 by George Skentzos
Porsche has introduced a new limited edition arrival into its Cayman line-up which improves upon the Cayman S which was originally introduced in November 2005.
Matching the dynamics of the Cayman S with the visual impact of the iconic 911 GT3 RS, the new Cayman S Sport boasts a significant power upgrade.
Its naturally aspirated 3.4-litre flat-six engine now develops 223kW with Porsche adding its Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as standard which lowers the car by ten millimetres.
Its exterior treatment is offered in the 911 GT3 RS colours of Orange or Green as standard with its model designation worn proudly along its flank in black graphics.
Further colours available on this special model are Black, Guards Red, Speed Yellow and Carrara White, as well as an exclusive Arctic Silver Metallic.
Its 19-inch SportDesign wheels are finished in a glossy black along with the exterior mirrors and air intake grilles.
The interior also receives sporting refinements which include a unique circular instrument display without the usual binnacle above, as well as an alcantara finish on the gear shift, the handbrake lever, and the rim of the steering wheel.
Only 700 units of the Cayman S Sport will be produced worldwide, with each bearing their edition number on a plaque on the glove box.
Australian availability is yet to be confirmed.

Looks great & now all I have to do is convince the bank manager that I really need one.
Cheers !
I’ve been told by a Porsche insider that the Caymen S is the best handling car Porsche make. Period.
The best looking car Porsche make. Pity the traditionalists favour the rear engine of the 911.
I wonder what the uproar would be if Porsche changed the 911 to mid-engined. Would make it easier to handle at the limit.
I think you have a point ther Supercuo. Given the Nissan GTR outperforms Porsche on ther doorstep they’ll want to come back at them soon. moving the engine amidships could be the answer to the tail happy 911.
I prefer this over the 911 anyday. Looks better handles better.
“Everything except of 4WD is just a temporary solution” said Walter Rörl. And I totally agree with him. But the Cayman just looks wicked.
I am one of the lucky ones that convinced my bank to loan me the dough to buy one…I am in Dubai and bought the last one available for Dubai. Just awaiting delivery now…
The price I paid? Bribing the Mrs with a LV purse and living off bread + water for the next 12 mths…
I bought one of these on an 09 plate and i love it, my first Porsche ,love the handling and fast enough for the roads i travel,As always it has it knockers and people who say its a poor mans 911, if thats the case then i,m a VERY HAPPY POOR MAN
alex, it seems like you have either driven, recently purchased or previously owned almost every car that gets talked about on this website….how can that be?
Why didnt you buy a 911 Alex ?
Those that have or had 911s Alex think its not a Porsche unless its a 911 ,stems back from 924 ,944, and 928 days .
