The Jaguar XKR-S Convertible will make its international debut at next week’s 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The XKR-S Convertible will join the XKR-S Coupe at the pinnacle of the British luxury brand’s sports car range. The XKR-S is the fastest and most powerful production Jaguar ever created.
The 405kW/680Nm supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine from the Coupe will find its way under the long bonnet of the Convertible. Although it will be heavier than the Coupe, the XKR-S Convertible should still sprint from 0-100km/h in well below five seconds (the hardtop does it in 4.4 seconds).
Whether the XKR-S ragtop will be able to match the Coupe’s 300km/h top speed is unknown at this stage. The full details are expected to be revealed next week.
Jaguar Australia is not commenting on its plans for the XKR-S Convertible until the LA Auto Show, although we’re hopeful the soft-top supercar will follow in the Coupe’s footsteps and make its way Down Under sometime in 2012.
If the XKR-S Convertible does go on sale in Australia, it will be priced above the $340,000 Coupe. It’s likely to be somewhere in the region of $370,000, putting it in the same league as the Aston Martin DB9 Volante, Audi R8 Spyder, Maserati GranCabrio and the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet.
