Red with black wheels and tan leather, simply awesome combination. What a stunning car, how unfortunate that there aren’t more of them on the roads being driven at 11!

  • Scotty C

The estate is the perfect all round car. Please give me one!

    • sm

very few things are as satisfying as seeing all and sundry hsv’s, fpv’s, buzz box 4′s etc… disappear in the rear view mirror while the whole time the kids in the baby seats sleep totally unaware of what has just happened

Re ” very few things are as satisfying as seeing all and sundry hsv’s, fpv’s, buzz box 4′s etc… disappear in the rear view mirror while the whole time the kids in the baby seats sleep totally unaware of what has just happened ”

Is that on a Racetrack or on a Public Highway ??

Canberra to Sydney it’s 110kmh… Some parts of the NT got 130kmh. So please explain.

        • sm

Fred, it’s done and dusted by 80km/h

          • Dennis

Dont bother, Freds a fag that needs to be beaten up. An anti car guy on a car website, and trust me I am not into accidents you dickwad.

  • Harold

I’d like to see head to head reviews. I think they make more sense since people usually who would buy an AMG C 63 might also consider an M3, ISF etc.

  • http://Porsche MB

I’ve had my C63 for 3 years now and the only regret I have is not having LSD…that can all be fixed with an update to the performance pack but will go the coupe option this time White with black wheels.

Now let the M boys open up and go on about how the M3 is better on the track.

Now Mercedes please do another AMG day at Bathurst, that was alot of fun.

  • Thrillhouse

The updated front-end is ugly as sin compared to the original. And it’s a 6.2, not a 6.3 fellas. An estate version would be nice, if only it could be had with a proper manual box.

    • Bobo

I completely agree on the front end = HSV E3, proper manual with a clutch to experience this great engine would be sensational…

  • Lucii Pooky

My M3 owning dad doesn’t like the C63 because of its looks and quality. I told him to check it out one more time because of the coupe. He loved it and now wants one.

    Well Done Mercedes.

  • JSTTRS

I only didn’t buy one of these because it’s not manual. I know it’s a debatable subject, however I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to this.

I bought an Audi TTRS (very different animal) but every bit as fast.

Dear Mercedes, if you bring out a proper manual gearbox/clutch for the C63 coupe I will trade my car in next week!!!!

    • John

Not quite there with the ‘every bit as fast’ claim JSTTRS, pick up the latest issue of Motor and you will see what I mean ;). Out of the 3 cars compared (m3 vs rs5 vs c63 coupe) the mercedes was the fastest in a straight line and around the track! Also notably the c63 coupe did 2.34 seconds from 80 to 120kph, a ttrs a couple of issues back did 3.3 seconds on the same measurement of performance. (That is not to say the ttrs is a bad car, its fantastic! Just, not as good as a c63 coupe :) )

      • Dennis

John, still using and tkaing a single magazine as gospel.. great to see!

  • Jimmy

Anthony, can I ask what fuel consumption figures you actually got?

    • sm

driving it and making the most of the exhuast note = 23-28L per 100. With a 60L tank you do the maths

Having said, that a friends 135i is not much better when you are giving it the full beans.

    • http://caradvice.com.au Anthony

Between 22.1 and 14.0L/100km – but as I said, fuel consumption isn’t an issue.

  • shane

    The perfect everyday supercar.

I think i would take one over an m3

  • PeterG

    A bit too HSV.

  • Selurs

I can’t understand why the Mercedes engineers decided to make the new C Class look almost identical to the 2010 Skoda Octavia, especially AMG vs VRS. The other way ’round would make sense, but the Octavia beat this to market by over two years.

  • Altezza

This is the car I would like to own someday…although I still need to pay my mortgage off first (sigh).

  • Hung Low

One of my favorite 4 door sedans on the road today! The exhaust note is spectacular!

  • Shak

The perfect everyday Driver, in the perfect colour combo, with the perfect wheels IMO. Now which bank can i rob…

  • Steve

I bought my C63, Perf Pack in April. I have a smile on my dial every day that I drive it. Fuel not too bad, until you give it a boot full. Awesome car, well done Mercedes.

  • fpvboy

My brother just now took me for a drive in one he picked up today, performance pack and all. I’d sell a kidney. Simply phenomenal.

  • dude of cars

    My favourite! Definitely worth it.

    M3 beater in every way!

  • The Realist

I’d rather get a HSV W427, quite simply the world’s best saloon.

    • theillestlife

its a holden buddy. its not the worlds best anything…

      • Bobo

Actually cashed up bogans have moved on to AMG and Audi. And thats a fact. I’ve hardly seen any of the new FPV/HSV…

        • anonymous

Have to agree with that assessment.

I’d actually prefer a W427 because it is rare. There are heaps of C63s and M3s around., The W427 less common. It also goes like a rocket (probably the understatement of the day) and makes a fantastic noise.

          • Fred

M5 is the world’s best saloon, moron!

          • Fred

A 427 being rare is not a good thing. It’s ambitiously priced. You can’t be stupid enough to pick this over Godzilla which costs the same. It will easily outaccelerate and outhandle the HSV, and it’s way better built and more reliable too. The 427 is simply a Commodore with a Corvette Z06 engine.

          • The Realist

It’s not only rare, it’s also the fastest four door car on the planet. 0-100 in 4 seconds. That’s what a 9 litre V6 will get you.

            Go Holden!

          • Guil

            The W427 is a 7.0 litre V8

          • Dan

            Go rare taxi!

LOL, anyone who would actually pick a W427 over a C63 or any of its competitors (RS4, ISF or M3), is an idiot!

  • Hens

Pretty sure its not a multi-clutch setup

    • http://www.caradvice.com.au Anthony Crawford

This 2012 model is, the previous car wasn’t.

      • Fred

The previous 7-speed auto was not as responsive as the M3′s DCT, which explains only marginally better acceleration in spite of the big power advantage. The new multi-clutch would certainly make things a lot better.

Finally the BMW has some serious competition!

  • LARISSA HILLS

    VERY COOL HOLY GRAIL…

  • Dave

Caradvice, thank you for another fantastic car review.

  • zahmad

Not being picky but I still believe its a “6.2 litre” V8 Anthony…

  • K-Pop

Apples and oranges, i know…but i’d still rather get a GTR for same amount of money.

    • Dan

Hard choice though, no matter how much better it is performance wise, it lacks that glorious V8 sound :(

  • Greg Mcdonald

After raising three kids I’ve had my share of Toyota Tarago’s, Honda Odyssey’s and Ford Territories.  With just one 13-y-o daughter left in the nest I decided it was “me” time. Two weeks ago I took delivery of my brand new black C63 AMG sedan.  What a superb car! I started my love affair with a 2004 SLK 350 I bought second hand four years ago. (It had only 22,000 kms on the clock and was such a good deal I couldn’t let it go).  I loved that car and now it’s paid out I thought I’d keep it.  However since buying the C63, it hasn’t been out of the garage.  Still working on the new manual and I am in awe of some of the technology.  Half of it I I don’t understand and the other half I just cannot believe. In cruise mode it is a very well behaved town car that my wife loves. In S+ it is a real beast that will pass anything except a petrol station.  With winter on the way I know I’ll soon have to start winding the windows as I drive.  Ohh the sound!!!!

    Cheers   Greg
