Toyota world’s most respected company

By Alborz Fallah |

If Toyota fans needed any more ammunition to support their brand, here it is. More than 60,000 people in 27 countries have anonymously voted Toyota as the world’s most respected company.

Toyota world’s most respected company

Scoring 86.53 out of 100 in a survey conducted by New York-based private research and consulting firm Reputation Institute, the Big T came out as number one amongst the world’s top 1,000 companies on perceptions of trust, esteem, admiration and good feeling.

No other car company was listed in the top 30. Volvo came in at 32nd, Honda 39th, BMW 88th and Daimler 99th.

Google came in behind Toyota which also led from Swedish furniture retailer IKEA and Italian chocolate-maker Ferrero.

In a more local study, Australian Reader’s Digest has also reported that Toyota is the most trusted automotive brand in the country. Mercedes-Benz came in second, followed by BMW, Holden, Honda and Mazda. Mitsubishi came in last (no doubt affected by its Adelaide plant closure).

    ANOTHER WIN TO TOYOTA,WELL DONE!

  • http://www.caradvice.com.au Lightbulb

Congratulations should go to Toyota for their win but the real hard part is staying at the top.

    Cheers !

  • AC COBRA

60,000 voters is not many people, 6 million people would make a viable survey but not 60,000, how many people were paid associates for the company, Toyoda will do anything to get recognition or PR..

  • Martin

For once, I have to agree with AC COBRA. 60,000 is quite an un conclusive number of people to survey, considering the amount of people that buy Toyotas.

  • TP

60,000 isnt much? Its called a sample kids… notice the 86.53 / 100 figure… thats quite a large sample. Im sure those who conducted the survey have reached statistically correct conclusion. Toyota is number 1.

  • Minnow

AC Cobra is correct, it should be atleast 0.5% of the population. Since its being compared to companies outside its industry it should be 0.5% of the Australian population which would mean they should have surveyed 1067844 people. Therefore its not a fully representative study. Its valid but not fully representative. You must note they only had to survey more than 30 people for the study to be statistically valid.

  • Minnow

    remove the extra 4!! 106784

  • TP

Yaaawn. 60,000 is more then enough, especially when you have 85% of the participants in Toyotas favour. This wasnt 51/49… its quite convincing.

  • realcars

Hardly surprising considering Toyota’s whole marketing strategy is around the “Oh what a feeling” slogan.

Toyota’s marketing team deserve another pay rise.Should throw a couple of extra million Lawsie’s way as well as a tribute.

John Laws made Toyota in Australia after all.

Say something enough and eventually people will believe it.

Kaizen is Japanese for bullshit. It is Toyota’s marketing that should be studied by other manufacturers that want to be successful.

  • Minnow

Yes… and TATA was no 6

  • realcars

Mazda/Honda for many years have made a superior product to Toyota but haven’t got “oh what a feeling” talking their product up.

Constant advertising around unbreakable, tough etc etc etc.
even appealing to patriotism with claims of landcruiser built Australia.

I am sure Toyota have used similar tactics around the world.

Regardless of there being any truth to these claims people now subconsciously associate these qualities with Toyota.

  • TuffGuy

Ha Readers Digest is more likely to be read by Toyota drivers than anybody else…..
Perhaps others respect them so much because they make them so easy to steal – the Toyota Aurion was just rated worst large car in the NRMA security ratings.
In any case owning a Toymotor says a lot about the person driving it – female (or just got no balls), old or old before your time, bland, dull, boring, a car is just transport from A to B, braindead, probably with a name like Dennis, etc, etc.

  • Minnow

Also how do you explain Bajaj Auto Limited and Mahindra & Mahindra Limited and China Construction Bank being ranked higher than Airbus?? Obviously countries with higher populations brought these random companies up in the ranks… not a very reliable study in my opinion.

  • Kiasu

    Hmmm anti spam word Toyota.

Well congratulations Toyota. Credit is due when it is due. A lot of people are envious of their position and who wouldn’t.
A well managed company with reliable vehicles have given them a strong brand image that is hard to remove.

  • BOSSCR

Before we get carried away, I like Toyota quality, technology and their reliability. Not so much their design and FWD tendancies. I also dont like people getting so worked up about the succes of a company they have nothing to do with. I also like stirring the pot !

60,000 people is a decent quantity to survey. However, you have to bare in mind, that there are also over 50,000 people who actually believe in Scientology. Yes I know that there is absolutely no correlation between Toyota and Scientology, other than of course, brainwashing….

    Job well done ScienTOYOTAlogy!

  • BOSSCR

I apologise in advance if that just opened a can of worms….

  • Minnow

BOSSCR, anything to liven the topic up lol, it is a rather toyota topic.. HA! Ha ha… ha.. hmm

  • GTRmon

For a worldwide survey 60,000 is nothing. Who was surveyed? In what countries?

I’m not knocking Toyota, but notice that the survey was on ‘respect’. What does respect mean? How do you measure respect?

For example: I respect Nissan for consistently making cars that are great for drifting/tuning/general larikinism. Others clearly respect Toyota for making ‘reliable’ cars. These two concepts of respect are not compatible.

So it’s a bit of a meaningless survey, doesn’t really say anything at all. But whatever, go Toyota.

A more useful survey might be ‘admiration’. I ‘respect’ the Corolla for being a cheap little run-about. But I ‘admire’ the BMW M5 (anti-spam word) for being superbly awesome. Thus if I had the money which one do you think I’d buy?

  • Glen

I’m ready to bet that the reason why Toyota is the most respected is because of the Prius. I’m sure that the majority of people think Toyota were being responsible for changing the world. Even though we know its just a clever marketing stratedgy.

  • AC COBRA

I love how they say 27 countries have anonymously (lets keep ourselfs private) that secretly voted Toyota as the world’s most respected company, well how come I was not informed about this, shouldn’t it be made public or are all the voting Toyoda lovers only allocated prior opportunity when they purchased or already own toyota vehicles sending them out reputation surveys just to receive a $5 scratchy in return and claim more sneaky fame 4 Toyoda.

Obviously no other manufacturer or real enthusiast knew about this study, I can smell a (T) rat big time, once again very clever toyoda advertising, The cars are bland fleet crap but their promoting worldwide is spot on……

TOYODA SELLS TO THE AGEING MASSES AND DISCOUNT FLEET BUYER’S…..

  • AC COBRA

ABOUT 50,000 OF THE VOTERS WERE TOYODA DRIVER’S, SO HOW CAN ANYONE SUPPORT THIS STUDY..

  • Fluffy

I would vote KFC,Hungry Jacks and Pizza Hut as number one respected company since I always go there all the time but Toyota number one I never been to a Toyota dealer in my life but the world is full of stooges and this why Toyota is Number one good job for Toyocrap:).

  • No Name

What is it with all this Toyota bullshit on this website. This has little to do with cars in reality just ANOTHER feel good for Toyota.
Yep we know Toyota are joint numero uno, we know they make reliable cars, yep we know they sell more than anyother manufacturer in Australia.
Funny how they only have 5% of the market in the UK.

  • Tomas79

    Well Done Toyota!!
Good to see these bogans squirm!!
This Finding just confirms the sales statistics!!

  • AC COBRA

    CLASSIC TOYLETA BRAINWASHED COMMENTS

Confirms clever advertising is the master of all emotions, boring bland metal that surrounds it can’t change perceptions, sad but true..

  • http://www.chanceforme.com German Romance

I have been driving a Toyota Echo for 1.5 years, it is the best small car I ever driven. Great quality for a good price.

  • http://integra Car 1

60,000 bogans………..Toyota boring cars for boring people. Fleet sales must be going through the roof ……..discount enough and anyone will buy it. Toyota still sell “showbag” cars …….plenty of goodies but no real substance. disappointing that some people believe this Japanese propaganda survey ………Toyota survey for themselves, wht other outcome did you expect?

  • Tony

Congratulations to Toyota on the well deserved recognition.

  • Kevin

Have to say that the marketing of Toyota is quite successful, even though their cars are NOT better than others. Toyota is now relying heavily on people’s old perception…

  • Tomas79

    AC Cobra,
You idiot, you wish you could blame the advertising for Toyota’s success. But we both know, that is complete BS!!

I have never even seen an advert for my Toyota vehicle!!
Nor does the competition have anything series in the range!!

Just do your self a favour mate, push your POS ford or holden to nearest car yard, and wreckers… And get your self a toyota!!

  • Glen

I’d rather push my Ford than drive a fridge on wheels.

  • Aaron

Good on them, to start by making sewing machines and by the next century be the worlds most respected manufacturer, thats an achievement and a half by any standards. They make a good product, market it sensibly, and don’t piss people about.

  • Tomas79

    So true Aaron!!
Seriusly, I dont see why so many bogans are having episodes over this article??

  • Tomas79

    Glen,
“Fridge on wheels” Is that a bogan slang for a car that actually has a fully fuctioning air conditioner! A rare case among the bogan circles!

  • Flying High

As an owner of a Toyota I could hardly say I respect them. In fact given my dealings with their ‘service’ department and the overpriced rubbish they call original spare parts, their inability to satisfactorily service acar, the number of problems that presented themselves in two brand spanking new cars, I can categorically say I have no respect for them. And I would be most unlikely to buy another in the foreseable future. And as an owner of 2 Toyota vehicles which cost a total of 100K on the road 8 years ago, I am in a prime position to comment.

    Respected? You are kidding right..!

  • Dlr1

Some people need to read the article before they go blowing their load. The survey was about respected companies, not best cars, or marketing departments, or greenest vehicles, or juiciest wet dreams. So what if most people dont get a little moist where it counts when looking at a Toyota brochure. But you can respect them, even if you dont like them.

  • Mistertwo

Hey Glen, you must push your Ford quite often then! I had a BA Falcon and it was the biggest pile of crap I have ever driven, 20 year old Toyota Cressidas are more refined.

I think you all need to remember that the sample was taken from 27 countries, and the “Oh What a Feeling” advertising slogan is only used in Australia (UK = Today Tomorrow Toyota, US = Toyota-Moving Forward etc). If Australia was one of the countries surveyed (and don’t assume it was, Oz isn’t the centre of the Universe you know) only an average of 2222 would have been surveyed, and according to the sales figures an average of 23% (511) would actually own a Toyota. This is about brand respect and awareness, not how many were sold.

  • AC COBRA

For the record I don’t have a Ford or Holden parked my garage. only >>>> (Ford project in pipeline)..

I’m a car enthusiast that has taste for great cars eg: AC COBRA, GT 40, Mustangs etc, not “mass produced boring toyota” stamped on my forehead.. just because an ad on TV or survey makes a big statement about how great thier reputation and quality is doesn’t mean it will be superior against all other manufacturers, Toyota has some of the best car ads to describe what people want to see and hear so they can make them come to a very quick conclusion for purchase and not bother test driving or comparing much better models, no point disputing this fact Tomas79..

  • Tomas79

    AC Cobra,
Offcourse I can’t dispute your “Fact”, since you dont present any!!
“Toyota has some of the best car ads” Thats objective, I can’t rember any, which means, they haven’t made any memorable ones!!

As for “mass produced boring toyota”, thats funny coming from a Ford fan!!

  • AC COBRA

Fords are not boring “get it”, have you driven any or sat in one lately like the new FG, Mondeo, Focus, put it this way I drove a stupid Corolla and found this a very horrible experience compared to most cars in its class not saying anymore about this mass produced for the ageing masses and discount fleet buying bland boring vehicle..

200 KILLER WASPS IS NOT MEMORABLE, Hmmmmmm YEAH !!!!!!! NOT 4 ME, BUT 4 PEOPLE WHO ARE INTRIGUED WITH KILLER WASPS GET SUCKED IN (OR SHOULD SAY STUNG) BY THIS, CREATING I NEED TO BUY NOW ATTITUDE.. NOONE ELSE HAS ALL OF THESE WASPS SO IT MUST BE ORIGINAL LIKE KFC CHICKEN COATED IN 10 HERBS AND SPICES…….

  • http://aca Luke GT

AC Cobra – refresh Your limited memory capacity and take note of all the variuos Cust. Satisfaction / Qual. Surveys published around the world wether it be the US, UK or Australia and tell me who gets stung – let me help you abit because you need it … it’s not buyers of Toyota’s.

What about all the surveys conducted in Australia in 2006, 2007 and 2008 alone – Holden and Ford have consistantly ranked amoung the very worst and poorest performers of all while Toyota has constantly ranked in the ‘TOP 3′ with Honda and Mazda … so what exactly were you saying about getting stung.

People like you need to pull your head out of ‘ya as*e and actually note market reality instead of your own personal emotions.

  • Dennis

Put it this way AC if Ford build such a fantastic car,how come they only have a poor 10% market share in OZ YTD and falling by the month and Toyota has a very healthy 23.5% share YTD. and climbing.Ford also have a very unhappy dealer group as a whole, as proven by the latest AC Nielsen survey. Why doesn’t anyone buy them? and don’t give me the crap that Ford don’t sell to fleet co’s. I think you will find that their major Falcon market is fleet.BTW don’t you just love the latest Ford ad with the fingers walking .what the hell does that have to do with cars?

  • http://aca Luke GT

‘Drive.com’ recently published their annual fleet sales records. In 2007, total Commodore and Falcon sales equated to approx 80% fleet while 2008 has seen that incraese to approx 84%.

The Corolla sells approx 60% to the private market (40% fleet) while it is worth noting that the Aurion infact sells in greater numbers to the private sector then the Falcon (BF model) … mmm !!

  • Bavarian Missile

Greeeeeeat…………. just what we need another Toyolet story and another survey..yawn………..all becoming very boring. Now theres a survey they should undertake, worlds most boring car,da daaaa Toyota !

  • Dlr1

AC Cobra, Ford Australia has and does survive on booooring vehicles. Any Falcon from XD to AU…. yawn. Things only got interesting again when the BA XR6 turbo was released. And the bulk of Falcons sold will continue to be bland base model sedans, wagons and utes. No panty peeling power in that lot.

  • http://aca Luke GT

Bavarian – Holden will win it hands down because of thier new found passion towards Daewoo.

Most car companies in Australia are jealous of Holden’s Daewoo lineup, they set new benchmarks for engineering excellance.

Why buy a Lexus IS250 when you get yourself a Holdenwoo Viva !!

  • http://integra Car 1

Dennis…….The new Ford add is great……..the fingers walking effortlessly over the landscape obviously represent the ease and comfort that you experience while travelling large distances in an FG Falcon. Get it ?? Or are you totally stupid? I have a G6E and it is wonderful. And economical too……..averaged 8.5l\100 on drive to Adelaide last weekend to see Geelong kill the Crows.

Anyway what the hell does an old stupid guy yellin out “killer wasps” have to do with cars? That is so so lame………

  • realcars

Pinching the electronics for the Prius gee that’s respectable.

  • http://aca Luke GT

Car 1 – as much as i am a Toyota supporter, i agree the new FG Falcon is a great car and certainly has the specs going for it, no arguement from me.

However, Falcons and Commodores have a long and distinguished history of being amoung the most unreliable / in-dependable and poorest quality vehicles to have evergraced Australian roads and my comment is supported by countless amounts of Cust. Satisfaction / Quality Surveys in Australia within the past couple years alone.

As published, not only has Ford and Holden in general but the Commodore and Falcon have ranked amoung the poorest performers of all and that is nothing to be proud off.

Oh yeah – enjoy the lastest version of the locally engineered L6 while you van because of 2010, it will be gone forever and replaced by an American manufactuered V6 that has not exactly received many raving reviews … has it !!

  • realcars

Digging a hole deep enough to bury the toxic used batteries will be respectable too.

Oh yeah – enjoy the lastest version of the locally engineered Ford G6 while you can because of 2010, it will be here forever !!!!!!

  • peterd

luke as u KNOW Ford did the right thing and sorted a patent share with toyota as the devlopment that Ford did was be to close to that of Toyotas

Even Toyota has come out and said as much-so get over it
and by the way Toyota is using the tecnology that Ford shared with them as part of the agreement -diesel injection patents – so that may mean that u have to start hating diesel toyotas now!!!!!!!!!!

  • Boy Wonder

Fords and Holdens may be unreliable yet there are still so many of them; some which are more than 20 years old still on the roads. which indicates that they must be alot easier and cheaper to repair than a Toilet… oops; Toyota as there arent that many 1988 Coronas still going around

  • Boy Wonder

TP how the hell can anything be statistically correct>

this is the result of a survey where a particular group of people were asked a series of questions the majority of which said Toyota is number one

Yet if you take another group of the same number of people and ask them the same questions I doubt that you will get the same result that is percentage of those who also think Toyota is number one

However; if you Multiply 20 by 4 divide by 4 and add 5 [for example] you end up with 25. do it again and you still end up with 25 which is mathematically correct and far more accurate as the result is always the same no matter how many times you run through the process.

  • Catwoman

Well looks like Drive can report on the negative side of Toyota, congratulations and what a breath of fresh air. Then again their not telling us we didnt already know about Toyota’s or their owners ,their both boring and a n a l when it comes to filling out surveys for Toyota!Everyone else actually has a life when it comes to filling out other manufactures surveys for service and quality!

“Toyota might consistently finish near the top of quality surveys in the United States, but its cars still lack the appeal of competitors, according to respected automotive research company JD Power and Associates.

The researcher, which is best known for the Initial Quality Study it publishes every year, has just released details of its 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study – and Toyota finishes near the back of the pack.

The APEAL Study examines how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive, based on owner evaluations of ten measures covering more than 90 vehicle attributes.

And while Toyota came sixth in the quality survey, it slumped to 26th in the APEAL study, finishing well below the industry average. “”

  • Wheelnut

I’m reminded of a statement made by a advertising executive on a TV show called “Car of the Future” on SBS on Sunday night. They were talking about what makes people buy the cars they do.

He said that buying a car is an emotional experience. People are rather passionate about the car they drive…. if people weren’t passionate about their car we would all be driving Toyota Corollas.

Which is kind of saying something as to which car is more boring don’t you think?

  • http://integra Car 1

Luke GT……..Toyota are the biggest copiers of other cars that there has ever been !! The latest Toyota copying other vehcles is the Kluger copying the Ford Territory idea of being available 2wd and awd. I notice Toyota sells utes too……….and Ford invented those in Geelong !!!! So dont shit me about Ford sharing ideas …… at least they didnt steal them like Toyota does……..

Aurion …………the NAME has changed !!!! (from Camry)

  • Wheelnut

A Survey says Toyota is Number one….. Who cares No-1!

The only people that would really care are contestants on Family Feud…..

  • Wheelnut

The Original Kluger was more like a Subaru Forester which was out B4 the Territory

  • Glen

Same old arguments from Dingo I see.

HA HA HA, Ive never ever had a problem with aircon with a Falcon, but seem to have plenty with Camry’s, the place i used to work at had to replace 3 different a/c compresors in 3 different ’01 Camry tourings.

Oh and mister2, I’ve never had to push any of my Ford’s including my EA, the only times I’ve had to get a Ford towed was both times in my EF when a clutch cable broke and when the clutch failed. Now both of those happened with more than 250,000 KMS on the clock so lasted a lot longer than they should of.

Compared to my parents brand new Toyota Spacia which the computer completely failed not once, not twice, not 3 times but 5 TIMES, a new computer each time too.

  • Catwoman

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ hahaha……meow!

  • Wheelnut

Another area where Toyota copied other cars is with the Landcruiser. Just like the ute the very first 4WD car was also invented in Australia.

And the MR-2 was no more than a Japanese version of the Lotus Elan

maybe Toyota should change their name to XEROX. ?

  • http://integra Car 1

Luke GT…….you really show just how much you dont know about things automotive. Your comment about the new V6 for the Falcon is total crap. The Falcon engine will be BASED on the V6 from the USA. Meaning some of the major components will be the same, such as the block…….there will be many parts of the engine made locally and it will be developed into a much better engine than any other version of it used around the world.

    Do you understand ??

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

WHEELNUT; to be perfectly blunt………….there is no copyright for a look of a car! The fact they do it and do it well is the epitome of a smart company.

Unreal, i have really hit some painful nerves … OOCH !!

At the end of the day with all pathetic and worthless excuses to the side – Toyota remains as the world’s most successful, influential, lucrative, wealthiest, most profitable, stable, recognised and respected automotive manufactuer of all while General Motors and Ford literally crumble and fall apart.

Suggestions GM may have to eventually file for bankruptcy protection is writing on the wall … !!

OH WHAT A WARM AND FUZZY FEELING

  • http://aca Luke GT

I’m not interetsed in excuses – just results … at the moment, Toyota is nothing but results !!

OH WHAT A WARM AND FUZZY FEELING

  • http://aca Luke GT

Luke as if u didnt know what small company – shame

The US Supreme Court let stand a $4.3 million award against Toyota Motor Corp. for using another company’s patented technology in gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles, including the top-selling Prius, Bloomberg News reported today.

The justices, without comment, today turned away an appeal by Toyota, leaving intact a jury verdict favoring closely held Paice LLC of McLean, Virginia. A federal appeals court in Washington upheld the award last year.

  • realcars

Yeah Wheelnut that reference to the Corolla as uninspired and bland certainly sums Toyota to a T!

Toyota doesn’t have superior vehicles just superior marketing and merchandising.

What grates with me is how they are the largest maker yet contribute so little in relation to furthering the cause.

  • BOSSCR

LukeGT has a great knack of stating facts and statistics without actually supplying any evidence that make the basis of his claims. FACT.

I have no problems with your belief that Toyota make better cars, and although being biased towards Ford, I have owned a Toyota and respect the company for their product and reputation. I don’t however, respect people that hijack forums and spam them with unsubstantiated claims.

Wheelnut, remember that SBS program mentioning that the NIcad
batteries from the Prius had to find their way to Germany for the Nickle Cadnium to be recovered. A total of four trips across the Atlantic if the Prius was sold in America for the various recycling phases to play out. They questioned the real ecological saving.

GM were developing lithium apparently and wouldn’t release a Hybrid until this better cleaner battery tech came online.

  • TP

What a pack of idiots. Toyota has built its reputation over years. Marketing merely gets customers to check out your product…. from that point onwards the product itself has to do the job. You wouldnt get as many repeat buyers as Toyota has if it was Daewoo quality vehicles with Toyota advertising

  • Wheelnut

Dingo seems to be getting that warm fuzzy feeling quite alot recently….

I wonder if its the same warm fuzzy feeling my 88 year old incontenent grandpa gets when he wets himself?

  • Wheelnut

True Lotus are powered bt Toyota. Yet how is it that Lotus able to get almost double the amount of power from the same engine by simply bolting on a supercharger. The same engine that is in the current Toyota corolla which has less power than the previous model.

Surely the worlds number one car company would have trhe resources and engineering ability to out-perform such a comparively small car manufacturer

Mind you when their poorer cousin Daihatsu [Toyotas equivalent of Daewoo] bolted a Turbo onto a Toyota engine in the Daihatsu Copen they got almost as much power as a Corolla

  • http://aca Luke GT

Peterd – you refer to the company that Toyota now pays a loyalty sum of $25 per Prius sold. I believe they copied a ‘micro-chip’ that has no connection to the hybrid drivetrain

Bosscr – i equally do not appreciate circus clowns who attempt to hijack articles with anti-Toyota comments that they can rarely support (pure rot) or are often not even remotely connected to market reality.

Maybe your issue is more to do with the raw facts of my comments.

That said, any company can advertise as much as they want but fact remains, if thier products don’t exhibit substance – they won’t sell … PERIOD !!

Take the time and not only acknowledge Toyota’s diverse, competitive, strong and consistant fleet but their consistant strong ranking in all Cust.Satisfaction / Qual.Surveys throughout the world.

Put it this way, no company achieves the success Toyota has by mistake … !!

Phil – Toyota owns shares in Yamaha

Wheelnut – different warm and fuzzy feeling.

I didn;t say anything about Toyota breaching any copyrights etc all I said that when you look at a Toyota you can more often than not there are very few innovative design features that are unique to Toyota.. you are more likely to see things that look as if they were taken from another car and given a slight tweak etc.

For the Kidney Grille and the Hoffmeister Kick [on the M3]is unmistakable a BMW feature.. The Frogmouth grille is a unique a design feature of the Aston Martin
Yet I am struggling to find a design feature in regards to the way a Toyota looks that is uniquely and unmistakably Toyota

I know how to recognise a Camry driver Wheelnut………their the ones with a pack of no-doze in their top pocket or handbag, what am I saying probably both in most cases.

  • http://aca Luke GT

Wheelnut – your above response is nothing but pure rot !!

Toyota is the company that designs and engineers thier own engines therefore exhibit full knowledge of what their donks ‘can’ or ‘can not’ do … durr !!

Your latest remark truely proves how much of an idiot you truely are – what an absolute pathetic attempt to discredit Toyota considering they design the engines of interest … PATHETIC !!

Here is a thought for ‘ya (clown) … did you ever consider Lotus chose to utilitise Toyota powerplants because of the integrity built into the engines … mmm !!

Lets not forget Bolwell Nagari also use Toyota engines (2GR-FE) while Williams in F1 has followed suit.

Seriously – you have got nothing … absolutely jacksh*t.

  • http://aca Luke GT

If you drive a Holden-Daewoo, all your pockets are full of no-doze. Actually, Ford and Holden owners are the biggest consumers of all as they are spend much of thier lives in the waiting room of ‘Joes Garage’.

Wheelnut – you are just passing comment for the sake of commenting. Your have become weak and exhibit no substance.

    CLOWN !!

  • Wheelnut

Arent bogans a kind of moth that are easily lured towards the bright lights only to become easy prey for the birds

In pretty much the same way a TRD owner gets lured in by what they are lead to believe [by the advertisers and marketers] is a serious performance car because only find that its no more than a regular Aurion with the same V6 plus a bodykit and a supercharger producing only 25Kw more

Whereas FPV can get more than 100Kw more than the standard Falcon from the comparitavely low tech engine by simply bolting on a Turbo

    So whos the Bogan?

  • Wheelnut

Thats my point exactly Dingo if Lotus can get that much extra power from a Toyota Engine why doesn’t Toyota do the same?

At least that way the Corolla would have more chance at being a serious rival to the original Hot Hatch the Golf GTi

  • Tomas79

    Youre the bogan, wheelnut!!
Going on, blabing sh!t with no substance about some boring taxi type cars, talking about extra few KWs…

There is more to cars, then just the power figures!!
But you bogan types, haven’t realized it yet!!

AC cobra, you idiot, offcourse i have driven fords!!
My first car was a Ford laser, only 6 years old, and had the engine replaced 3 times!!
Had 2 company falcons since, they and they were memorable only in one way!! The way they rattled, and the way they looked cheap inside, and the way the LSD was f*cked… And how many problems the last falcon had, even though it was only 2 years old!!! That was a true stinker!!

  • Tomas79

If Holden commodores and ford Falcons are so good, how come nobody else outside of australia wants them??

Yes, they do sell the pontiac G8 and the monaro, but that’s only cos they are cheap!!

  • http://aca Luke GT

Wheelnut – my comment went straight over your head.

Lotus, Bolwell Nagari and even Williams in F1 use Toyota engines … what more do i need to say !!

  • Tomas79

    Luke GT,
I think the bogans finally got the message, and went off to cut them selfs, EMO style!! :-D

  • Grassy

Toyota is number one because is the poor people’s car that is why poor people respected the company and this why they sell their cars because they are cheap.

  • Toyleta is a big joke, nobody saves money driving a Priass golf cart down the freeway

Tomas79 you are as bad as Dingo (Luke GT) and TP, I don’t believe any dribble you have typed about previously owned Ford’s, I’ve had Toyodas, worst cars ever, Camry which blew 2 engines 1st one at 28,940kms. 2nd did only 22,000kms, paint fading, stereo replaced 3 times and also owned a hilux replaced engine after warranty, cost me $10,000 after all these headaches I turned 2 Ford for reliable transport and they have never let me down or missed a beat for 7 years I owned a Fairmont GHIA and my misses presently has a 2007 Focus, my next car will be either Mondeo or Falcon G6..

Ford has great cars for enthusiast’s, if you like Toyodas good 4 u but your not as inspired with passion or can engaged in any significant racing history, people like u lack automotive spirit, rely on stats, surveys, great advertising, and propaganda dug up from paid media, Priass for instance has been the single most hyped concept in recent history but has ingrown a somewhat controversial stance over long term viability.

Grow some balls Toyoda fans when you can come to me with a argument that has substance and moral value please feel free, we Australian’s deserve the best answers, not cheap shots from uneducating repeated dribble..

  • Tomas79

    Grassy,
Did you ask your mum for permission before you went online??

  • Grassy

Tomas79 did you stop playing with your self and reply back???

  • Tomas79

“Toyleta is a big joke, nobody saves money driving a Priass golf cart down the freeway”

Time to up the dose on your neuroleptics!!

You really seam to be disconected from the reality!!

I did make a mistake on my previous post, i didn’t replace the engine 3 times, i replaced it twice, which means i have used 3 sets of motors including the original one!!
But still, what kind of engine cracks, and lets coolant in, not once but twice in a 6 year period!!

And please you idiots, stop using the objective terms such as exciting and boring!! Thats your own bogan opinion!!
The Sales figures, and the range on offer states otherwise!!

Also notice, it is you bogans having a suk and a winge on our positive news for toyota page!!
It’s not like me, TP or Luke GT go to your Ford/Holden page, and winge about FORDS and holdends!! Ofcourse, its not like Ford or holden had any good for years!!

  • AC COBRA

Do you know what reality means idiot Tomas79 or is the Toyoda blinkers a permanent fixture..

Keep smoking that pipe as your demented views become even more cloud induced !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tomas79

    AC Cobra,
Um, you ignorant dum arse, haven’t you learned a bit more about toyota the last fre weeks you been on Caradvice??
Or did all the sales figures, JD satisfaction survey, and respect survey fly pass your head?!! Obviusly it did!!

Um you can can keep making a fool of your self, by choosing to ignore reality, but i guess it will hit you hard soon enough!!!

  • AC COBRA

awwwwwwww have a cry :-( mummy is just a door away she can give a positivism summary of sales figures as your bed time story, tuck you in cardigan wool made blanket, followed by a satisfaction survey kiss goodnight ends a somewhat everyday lifeless journey in a Toyleta..

“OH WHAT A WASTE OF SPACE” !!!!!!!! TOYODA !!!

  • No Name

So funny reading all this. Bloody hell people its only about recognition and respect for a company. Its what i’ve been saying for ages “Good customer focus, reliable products’. Running cars is becoming more expensive by the day so if someone can save a few bob by having a smaller reliable car then they will. Come on Ford and others pull your trousers up and stop letting Toyota shaft you. Simple

  • Nick

Toyota has a good marketing department.

  • http://aca Luke GT

Thomas79 – don’t worry about the clowns commenting on this article because fact is … Toyota is s*rewing thier beloved Holdens and Fords right up the a**e with a size 20 steel capped boot and it’s blo*dy painful.

We all know who is the strongest in the global automotive market and it is Toyota with thier mass wealth and profits, strong/diverse/consistant fleet, corporate strength and stability, ongoing strong standings in Cust.Satisfaction / Qual.Surveys, record sales and gaining momentum in motorsport.

The fact is … most of these clowns are just pure and rotten losers who envy Toyota’s global success while thier beloved General Motors and Ford continue to crumble and fall apart …. OOCH !!

Heard the latest good news – GM’s share value has reached an all time low sense 1954 (or is that 1956) with speculation of the possibility they may have to eventually file for Bankruptcy Protection.

The problem with GM and Ford, they listened to much to clowns like most of these idiots and look were it got ‘em … up s**t creek.

Toyota however followed thier instincts and market reality and have now become arguably the most influencial automotive manufactuer of all …CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ‘BIG T’

Read some of the rot these circus clowns write and then compare it to sur*eys / ana*ysis and it is often not even remotely connected to market reality … so sad !!

Most of these sore losers live in la, la land were the fairies are nice to them while people like you and i sit back, enjoy a cold beer and observe the genocide Toyota is inflicting on companies like GM/Holden and Ford.

Oh yeah, even better … Toyota is also beating the American duo in NASCAR which is thier very own sport on thier very own soil … OOCH – HOW PAINFUL !!

No matter wether the sur*ey questioned 60 000, 6 million or the entire global population – it will never be enough coverage for the ‘circus’ but if only 2 people were questioned and GM or Ford listed 1st …. it wil be a fair and justifable sur*ey according to them !!

Take my advice – forget about the pure, rotten crap most of the idiots write because in the ‘Real World’ were there is no la, la, land or fairies … we all know who is No.1

These people spend thier lives making up excuses for thier loses and personally – i’m not into excuses … just results !!

OH WHAT A WARM AND FUZZY FEELING

  • Wheelnut

Isn’t it even more PATHETIC for someone who claims to be a car enthusiast and no a considerable amount about cars to come on a website such as this where other real car enthusiasts meet to talk about the good and bad points of various makes and models of cars.

Yet all the supposed car enthusiast does is hi-jacks blogs to talk about one particular brand as if that’s all he knows to talk about he then regurgitates a series of statistics and surveys etc

Surveys which are usually manipulated and adjusted to suit and are by no means accurate because if you asked the same questions to a different group of people you wouldn’t get the same result.[TP]

I mean if this supposed car enthusiast was a real car enthusiast he would be able to stay on topic and discuss the car in question in a civilised manner instead of always being on the offensive and making personal insults/attacks towards those who have the audacity to have an opinion which is different to his own.

  • Wheelnut

How the F–K do you screw something to the wall with a Steel Cappeed Boot?

  • Wheelnut

Dingo for once you are right I do know Jack S–t

Jack is the only son of Awe Schitt and O. Schitt – from Alabama.

In turn, Jack Schitt wed No Schitt, and the deeply religious couple
produced seven children: Holie Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Giva Schitt, Bull Schitt,
Buncha Schitt, and the twins: Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt.

Alas, after being married for 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt finally divorced.

Noe Schitt later married Mr. Sherlock, and because her kids were now living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was thus known as Mrs. Noe Schitt-Sherlock.

Some years later, the youngest – Dip Schitt – married a girl named Loda Crock.

Dip Schitt and Loda Schitt produced a rather nervous son – Chicken Schitt.

Soon after, and against his parents’ objections, Deep Schitt followed suit and married Dumb Schitt – a high school drop out.

Sisters Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, who had been inseparable throughout childhood, subsequently married the Happenz brothers in a dual ceremony.

The newspapers announced it as the Schitt-Happenz wedding.
The Schitt-Happenz children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse.

Buncha Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new bride, Piza Schitt.

So not onlly do I know Jack S–t but I know his whole family

  • AC COBRA

hahahhahahahaha, I love that joke wheelnut, I read the same joke in a pub a few weeks ago, it reminded me of all the no heart Toyo fans that have no interest in real cars but just worry about stats, surveys and pathetic American race results..

“OH WHAT A LODA SCHITT” TOYLETA !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bavarian Missile

Tell me again why I envy Toyota? If I envied Toyota so much wouldn’t I be driving one instead of an M3 Dingo/Luke Tomas 79 or whoever you want to be today ? Toyota are great at marketing and being consistent with their product just like McDonalds but like Mcdonalds when you taste the product it all tastes the same and no flavor ,boring burgers with no passion.

We’re car enthusiasts that come on this site that appreciate a wide range of cars be that FPV HSV in the local market high class horsepower from Europe or even American Muscle, are they all good cars without faults,no but that doesnt take away that they excite you. So I have to ask why you and other Toyota extremists even bother coming on to this site when your clearly not car enthusiasts and because your product gives you survey satisfaction only and no passion you have to find it in insulting those around you that do! What is the point, bottom line is Toyota is boring and real car enthusiasts cant get excited by them .

  • Wheelnut

I’m just trying to make this website a more enjoyable place to be… by adding some fun humour and sarcasm to my comments.. although I don’t think Dingo understands sarcasm

Similar to what it was “Pre-Dingo” when long time regulars such as Bavarian Missile; Golfschwein; 280zx; Andrew M and myself could get on here talk about the good and bad things about cars [even our beloved Ford and Holden] in a civilised manner… and even manage to stay on topic which is something we haven’t been able to do since the extremist/terrorist from Emerald made his appearance

  • Wheelnut

Luke GT: Just a Thought but as you are such a big fan of the Big T… may I suggest that you change your name [yet again] to Mr T. As you “Pity the damn fools” [The damn fools who don't have the same narrow minded views as you]

In the same way B.A Baracus did on the TV Series the A-Team

  • Jimbo

    Well said Bavarian Missile!

Redeem your self Luke GT/Dingo. What cars excite you as an enthusiast, excluding Toyota just for the moment?

For example, in the past I have owned a Ford, Mitsubishi, Subaru and now I dive a Toyota at work and a Peugeot at home and I like them all. I would love to own an R32 Golf or a BMW 135i or even a Fiat 500 I could go on and on and on.
One of the nicest cars I have driven is a new Shelby Mustang.

How about you, excluding Toyota for just one moment?

  • Wheelnut

Oooh I don’t know – that’s asking alot of Dingo… To think about something other than Toyota Lexus or Daihatsu etc

  • Tomas79

You Bogans are a thick bunch, obviously everything that has been said, went over your head!!

  • Wheelnut

    Look in the Mirror Tomas79

  • Tomas79

    Bavarian Missile Says:
“Tell me again why I envy Toyota? If I envied Toyota so much wouldn’t I be driving one instead of an M3 ”

Well judging by your bogan responce, i bet your m3 is an old bomb, thats significantly cheaper then any new toyota on the market!!!

  • Bavarian Missile

Ya think Dingo/Tomas79 why dont you look me up in the CA forum not only will you see the M3 but a list of cars that have been in my life before.Seems you have nothing to provide but insults mate, grow up!

  • Bavarian Missile

Head off to introductions page 2,Im there under my real name and have more visits than anyone else 512! So perhaps you could put up or shut up and introduce yourself to the Forum with a pic of what youve got and what you’ve driven…….mmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Wheelnut

Tomas79 – I’d like you to try and find an M3 for sale for the same price as a Yaris

  • Tomas79

    Bavarian Missile Says:
“Seems you have nothing to provide but insults mate, grow up!”

Um, this is a article which provides good news for Toyota, it is you, and your bogan crew who came here to winge and bitch!!

It is not like me, or Luke GT, or TP go to News articles that are positive about Ford or Holden and bitch!!
Not that Ford or Holden had a positive news in a while!!

I’ll happily got to the forum later on today, and post my ride!!

  • Bavarian Missile

My bogan crew….why dont you look up the meaning of bogan before you accuse people you dont know of being one.

Quote ” It is not like me, or Luke GT, or TP go to News articles that are positive about Ford or Holden and bitch!!

You have got to be kidding dont you! You obviously dont read your own work Dingo! How many times have you gone on to Ford or Holden threads and tried to turn them around by first ranting on about Toyota and then running Holden and Ford down. Dont be such a hypocrite! TPs the same !

Look forward to seeing your ride on the forum……….oh and can I get an apology on the M3 thanks!

Toyota maybe respected along with Ikea but that doesn’t mean they make the best product for every ones taste, does it? Alan key anyone!

  • Tomas79

    Bavarian Missile?
Are you tapped to the head or something, referring to me as dingo?!! I’ll check out the forum tonight, but seeing as wheel net is allreading trying to compare it to YARIS, i bet it will be one old bomb!!

  • Wheelnut

I’d still like to know how anything can be statistically accurate TP?

I mean ask the same questions to another group of people and i doubt you will get the same result as they did in this particular survey

It all depends on where when you did the survey how the questions were worded how the participants interpreted the questions and how the ones performing the survey interpreted the participants answers…. so many variables

Therefore; they are not accurate they are only an indication.

Things that are mathematically or scientifically correct have far more value as the result is always the same no matter when or where you do it.. as there are set formulae and processes to follow

Surveys are more subjective where science and maths are more objective

  • Wheelnut

I referred to the Yaris because you said – “judging by your bogan responce, i bet your m3 is an old bomb, thats significantly cheaper then ANY new toyota on the market!!!

and as the Yaris is the “entry level” car in Toyotas range
I merely used it as an example

Mind you BMs M3 would still out-perform your average Corolla or whatever.
She looks after it meticulously and as its one of only a handful [of that particular model] in the country in a rather unique colour its worth more than an Aurion.

  • oh what a feeling

why doesn’t this surprice me! all the toyota bashers come out when something positive is said about toyota (which is quite regular) i guess the real problem for you mob is nothing EVER comes out positive about holden or ford only negitive! go to a ford or holden dealership after june and ask them how they went, after you have been kicked out for being sarcastic, then go ask a toyota dealer how they went! OH WHAT A RECORD JUNE!

  • oh what a feeling

oh i forgot, its hard not to be the best when you have the most wanted range, the best product, the most reliable, the best resale value and as the start of this article stated, THE MOST RESPECTED NAME! both here in australia as well as overseas! oh what a feeling!

  • Phill

Luke GT – Yes toyota do have shares in Yamaha(I think they may have a controlling share?),but its still a yamaha head

  • AC COBRA

I did think for less than a minute but my thoughts about Toyoda fans being bogan idiots grows every day, I’d rather be a happy clown than have a fake car enthusiast mindset..

  • Andrew M

    well………..
i havent even visited this post, and didnt plan to until i saw my name come up in the “live posts” section.

i didnt know you valued my presence that much Dingo.

    well im gone,
dont worry i havent read any of the posts, so im not here to break any little stories that you are probably trying to sell.

so carry on, with your carry on.

    cya

  • Phill

One of my work mates is into drifting hes got a AE86 corolla with a nissan SR20 engine in it(the easyest way to get the power),but he is a die hard toyota fan.He is very disappointed at toyotas Oz FWD only line up and laughs at some of the Aurion comments. He never refers to surveys or studys to back up an argument. You clowns here are not true toyota supporters your just going on about surveys and studys, which is someone eles opinion anyway.

  • Phill

Go and buy an old Toyota RWD and go to the track, get your passion back

  • Phill

Luke GT – Buea Yates is competing in Drift Australia,he is supported by toyota but only financially, they have no technical input.Any company can do that so there not reaily doing anything special supporting drift

  • Wheelnut

Even if we did visit another particular blog with a topic that isn’t related to Toyota…. I have no doubt that sooner or later you would make your appearance on that blog and HI-JACK IT as you always do so we end up arguing about Toyota anyway..

  • http://aca Luke GT

Phil – actually … you are wrong !!

The AE82 Sprinter was in fact imported by TRD Australia from Japan were it was specially modified for drift racing.

Only recently, TRD Australia including Neal Bates re-engined the Sprinter with a 2SG engine which is the same example found in the TRD S2000 Rally Corolla’s which co-incidentally have been re-trofitted from the Celica GT4.

Infact, the TRD S2000 Corolla’s run the entire GT4 drivetrain including the AWD (except the gearbox which has been replaced by Neal Bate’s own dogbox) fitted into a regular Corolla albiet modified for racing by TRD Australia and Neal Bates Motorsport.

It is worth noting that Neal Bates is now an integral member of TRD Australia.

The Sprinter driven by Beau Yates is infact mechanically, technically and financially supported by TRD Australia.

The buggy raced by Peter Kittle in the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) is his own vehicle but is powered by a modified 2GR-FE engine (3.5 v6) so is mechanically supported (and sponsored) by TRD Australia.

Infact, Petter Kittle is a Dealer Principle of if his own Toyota Dealership … google and read up more about him, his off-road adventures and alliance with TRD Australia.

Actually, it has been lessons learn’t with Peter Kittle’s 2GR-FE powered Off-Road Buggy that has lead TRD Australia to evaluate the possible development of a Drag Racing 2GR-FE donk to replace the current 1300kw (1800hp) 3.2 twin turbo charged L6 Supra engine in Tony Wedlocks TRD Aurion Drag car which currently pulls 6.46 secs and reaches 0 – 100km/h in ‘less’ then 1 second.

Shall i continue educating you about TRD Australia’s current operations … !!

  • http://aca Luke GT

    Wheelnut … Fairdinkum – what a p*ss poor comeback !!

I’ll ask you again … as a self confessed car enthusiast, why are you on this boring Toyota topic instead of engaging in discussions on any performance car orientated subject – there are many but you, bavarian and the rest of the circus are under this title instead.

    WHY … !!

Don’t you ever give me (or anyone for that matter) a bullsh*t comment about being an enthusiast again because truth be told, i have proven you differently … PERIOD !!

No wonder an increasing proportion of the Australian population are making of bogons because that’s all ‘yas are – dumd ar*e bogons full off every pathetic and cowardly excuse imaginable.

Go back to your Holden Dealership and crack a fat over those Daewoo’s while Toyota gets on with business coming up with results instead pathetic excuses.

  • http://aca Luke GT

    Phil – correction .. i stated 2SG engine. It should infact be 3SG !!

  • Phill

Luke GT You may be right,(i’ll check)but it seams toyota put there support everywere, but V8SC were Ford and Holden put there major motorsport support, fear maybe?????I mean they can build a unique full on rally corolla to compete against a bunch of privater rally drivers in Oz.Why didn’t they enter it in world rally, because they would get there ass kicked thats why.The same thing applies to V8SC and thats why they put there money in lesser forms of motorsport eles in Oz.

  • http://aca Luke GT

Phil – seriuosly, you could not be any further from the truth. I thought you may have been a more resonable person but how wrong was i.

Obviously you exhibit limited knowledge regarding Toyota Motorsport.

Before Team Toyota Europe TTE)retired thier successful WRC operation in favour of developing a F1 Team, they were infact the reigning world champions and had been for 3 consecative years prior … remember Carlos Sainz and the Castrol sponsored Celica GT4′s … EXACTLY !!

If you would bother to actually conduct some useful research instead of sprucking utter and shear crap, you would have known that Toyota was infact the reigning champions of WRC but as mentioned, thier rally operation was retired to establish what is now ‘Toyota’s Panasonic F1 Team’.

However, Toyota has maintained it’s links and expertise with Rally Sport thanks to TRD Australia and Neal Bates Motorsport’s ongoing participation in the Australian Rally Championship ofwhich they won the manufactuers title in 2006 and 2007 and no-doubt again this year.

Toyota also supports other Rally Events in Europe with Alian Frost being a well known motor-racing indentity and races the Corolla (Auris) in Europe such as the World Ice Racing Championship. Infact, not only did Toyota finish the seasons final race 1-2-3 in February this year but won the title back to back. Remember Europe’s seasons are vice-versa to ours !!

Want to learn more – visit the official TRD Australia website as it publishes Toyota’s global motor-racing events. The story about Alian Frost can be found under ‘Other Sports’

Toyota has now invested considerably into all three tiers of NASCAR – Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Craftsman Trucks -and in just a short period of time have now evolved to be arguably ‘the current’ most competitive manufactuer placing 2nd in the Craftsman Trucks and 1st in the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series as we speak … good going Toyota !!

Actually… take a look at the current positions

    Sprint Cup (1st tier):

    * Toyota … 7 wins
    * Chevrolet … 4 wins
    * Ford … 3 wins
    * Dodge … 4 wins

    Nationwide Series (2nd Tier) :

    * Toyota … 13 wins
    * Chevrolet … 4 wins
    * Ford … 2 wins
    * Dodge … 0 wins

    Craftsman Trucks

    * Chevrolet … 5 wins
    * Toyota … 5 wins
    * Ford … 2 wins
    * Dodge … 0 wins

Toyota is also currently placed 4th in F1 from 10 competing teams.

That said, Toyota also has considerable commitment in various Japanese Motorsport Events particularly the Super GT while partaking and supporting many minor events around the world particularly in the US, Asia, Europe and Australia.

In Australia alone – TRD supports thier operation in the Australian Rally Championship (Neal Bates and Simon Evans), Drifting (Beau Yates), Australian Off-Road Championship (Peter Kittle) and Drag Racing (Tony Wedlock).

Infact, Neal Bates is now an integral member of TRD Australia having been heavily involved with the development of the TRD Aurion and subsequent ongoing improvements, mechanical and technical assistance to other affilated TRD teams (eg. re-engining of the AE82 Sprinter used by Beau Yates in Drift Racing as mentioned earlier) and of course motor-racing itself.

    As for V8SC … what eva !!

We all understand CAMS/AVESCO changed the culture of this race to discourage the participation of any other manufactuer after their embarrassing and soul wrenching defeat to Nissan and it’s all mighty GTR Godzilla.

CAMS/Avesco dictating locally manufactured RWD V8 rules meant they damn well knew Toyota and Mitsubishi (who was operational at the time) would not spend millions upon millions of dollars to alter thier production just to satisfy the rules of V8SC.

If it’s any company of all that have feared and been scared of competing against outside influences it is infact Holden and Ford … how pathetic !!

But, gee … how it all might be changing.

Take the days when Nissan squashed the aspiration of local V8 fans … add real competition and all of a sudden Holden and Ford didn’t look so good.

No different today with Toyota’s participation in NASCAR … all of a sudden : Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge are not looking so good – no wonder the American manufactuers hate outside competition !!

  • Bavarian Missile

TOM-ASS you are Dingo/what ever you want to call your self……..once again you have changed the subject from what I was discussing, why am I drying an M3 if Im so envious of Toyota? My car is still currently worth more than your top of the range so called Toyota performance car that would be a TuRD………and still being 10 years old will kick ANY CURRENT TOYOTAS ARSE IN AUSTRALIA!

As usual you have no credibility and take the focus of the subject by insulting my car cause you have lost the argument, and have not supplied the pic of your Sportivo or wide bodied 4 cyl Camry…………as my son said tonight when I got behind a Sportivo trying to provoke him{laughing}my son says”mum what are you doing ,its a Camry with a RED badge………….hahaha and hes right!

Trying to compare a BMW and top of the food chain BMW against a Toyota is just a joke Tomas/Dingo.Stop hiding behind yet another cloak Dingo we all know you by now!

We all know when Dingo gets nailed with facts he comes back with insults!Waiting for another cause YOUR so predictable!

  • Bavarian Missile

God hes off again sprouting on about the little Toyota are now achieving in Motor sport around the world………….Why bother with F1…..6 years in it and NOT 1 WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!PATHETIC!

Still waiting for that photo on the Forum you promised Dingo/Tom -Ass…………………..waiting waiting waiting!!

  • AC COBRA

Soon after introducing the ST205 in 1995, Toyota Team Europe was banned for 12 months from the WRC because of cheating.

Toyota… if we can’t buy in then well cheat our way in !!!!!…

Note, WRC lifetime ban on Toyota. Oh What A Cheater !!!!!

Toyota will eventually win anything thats easy to enter because they will throw giga-bucks to stop losing races then spend so much more until they can start buying some wins and good PR.

They’re trying so desperately to pitch themselves as an American/Austalian company, doing anything for positive reaction from the NASCAR, F1, ARC, demographic.

Congrats to Toyota, recognitions like this really show how good their Business model, Enterprise Governance and processes are. They manage not only to rope in direct consumers but gravitate many corporations to follow in their footsteps too.

Their cars lately have been pretty average, but the business machine behind this is ridiculously good.

Hopefully in a few years time other car manufacturers can share the same kudos….

  • Tomas79

    Bavarian Missile,
Obviously your simple bogan intellect gets too easily confused, so you can’t differentiate between me and Luke GT. So I will have to give up on this matter!! But I’m flattered that you seem to think that my grammar and english is as good as his!!

    Bavarian Missile Says:
July 9th, 2008 at 9:37 pm “My car is still currently worth more than your top of the range so called Toyota performance car that would be a TuRD…”

Bavarian Missile, I seriously don’t know why you keep on coming to this website, when obviously you don’t know much about cars, do you?!
A bogan aged 1998 M3 (anniversary edition) is according to Redbook worth only 30-34K. I’d laugh my head off, if I wasn’t filling pitty for you!! You wouldn’t get an entry level aurion for that much let alone a top of the range TRD!!

    Bavarian Missile Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
“As usual you have no credibility and take the focus of the subject by insulting my car”

You are the one who brought your M3 into this conversation, actually it hard to find blog on this site, that don’t have you dropping in your m3!!

    Bavarian Missile Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
“ you have lost the argument, and have not supplied the pic of your Sportivo or wide bodied 4 cyl Camry”

If you bogans learned to have a little bit more patience, and thought a little bit more about what you say, Jerry Springer wouldn’t have a show to go on!!
I did, so that’s another one of your complete myths busted!!!

  • oh what a feeling

bavarian missile(or is it s**t for brains) you know jack s**t about cars and resale value! if you think your bmw m3 is worth more than a new trd aurion you surely must have 2 d**ks because you are to stupid to have one! they are worth nothing in the second hand market! why do you continue coming on here and running toyota down with your crap! As a percentige of retained value toyota will have better resale value than any bmw you wish to present! and that my friend is a fact!

  • oh what a feeling

as for v8sc racing you follower’s already know the govering body do not want any other makes they only want ford and holden! in american nascar racing toyota are now kicking ass with there own trd v8 engine camry! if holden and ford sales continue to slid backwards at 300mph v8sc will want to let other makes in because as has already started the factory support will dry up and there will be NO v8sc racing! toyota would dominate there as they have done in nascar!

  • Fenno

    Most respected???
In the same way that Mugabe is respected…?

  • Jimbo

    oh what a feeling,

I had a look at Bavarian Missile’s M3 last night on the forum and out of interest I did a search on CarPoint. And depending on the km’s her 10 year old M3 could be worth up to $30k. I give your TRD Aurion 2-3 years and It will be below that. And in 10 years it will be worth nothing. The M3 however will still be a desired car.

Who has s**t for brains now?

Bavarian Missile, an awesome car by the way.

Dingo, I will quote myself on this one because you ignored a question from me that I think all the others that post on CA would be very interested to know:

“Redeem your self Luke GT/Dingo. What cars excite you as an enthusiast, excluding Toyota just for the moment?”
See above for the full post.

  • George

I’ve been reading CarAdvice since day-one but have never left a comment until now.

Reading threw the above really reminds me of playground arguements back during my school days.

I don’t see the point in people attacking each other’s favorite marque. I mean a good car is a good car no matter what badge is on it. I love prestige cars but I drive an old 4AGE powered corolla that still revs to 7,500RPM 20 years on (literally).

Yes, Toyota is a big player now and has almost surpassed GM in terms of global annual sales – something it should be congratulated on – but at the end of the day it doesn’t mean they have the best car range. Toyota is not the most profitable car maker either, that award goes to Porsche and Nissan who share an almost identical profitability ratio.

Yes, Toyota has an impressive Motorsport track record but track day passion has not filtered down to it’s passenger cars. The TRD Aurion is a good thing but where are the light-weight rear drive cars (i know the Toybaru is coming) and turbo all-wheel drive GT4s and we’re still waiting for the legendary Soarer/Supra replacement.

Having said all that other car makers could learn from Toyota, and some have already. VW and the like are implementing new ways of producing higher-quality cars at a lower cost, something that Toyota has been doing for a long time.

Anyway, it’s just my 2 cents to encourage more constructive comments.

  • Jimbo

Sorry I just re checked my figures and if the M3 has done under 100,000km it could be worth over $40k.

I don’t have a vested interest in this argument, as you seem too. However one of my pet peeves is people who just make stuff up to support their argument, and resort to name calling. Very weak!

  • George

How a M3 (new or old) is being compared to a TRD Aurion (new or old) is also beyond me.

They’re not even similarily sized, powered, priced, and driven (front vs rear).

  • Jimbo

George is right. These posts can get a little silly at times. I know can I get carried away.
As for the topic at hand:
I’ll admit that I’m not a big fan of Toyota but they still make good quality cars. Good work Toyota on the good results in the survey. Lets hope this encourages other car brands to improve.

  • oh what a feeling

jimbo grab your carpoint guide and burn it, in the real world they are miles out! on today’s market saying its worth x amount of dollars means nothing to finding a buyer who wants to part with big dollars on a ageing performance car with huge maintance costs! a 10 year old m3 worth $30,000 tell him he’s dreaming!!!!!!!

  • George

OWAF, a 10 year old M3, like any other car is worth anything that people are willing to pay for it.

And I have seen E36 M3s go for that sort of money. If you took it’s closest Toyota cousin, maybe something like a 96′ Supra – the value would be near identical.

Hence my statement about comparing a Aurion TRD to a M3.

I 100% agree with george the article started off about toyota “the most respected brand in the world” why do the toyota baggers have to come on here and turn the whole thing into free for all! toyota is the most respected company and nothing bavarian missile,ac cobra, realcars(ford lover)& tuffguy(brain dead) say is going to change that!FULL STOP!!!

    O o o o , I got another one too! From Autoblog.com —>

“Lending a bit of credence to recent allegations made by The National Labor Committee regarding workers right abuses by Toyota is the recent death of a lead engineer on the Camry hybrid project.

“Although the man died back in 2006, the Japanese Health Ministry has just now ruled that the man died of karoshi, which is a Japanese word meaning death from overwork. This ruling will allow his family to receive benefits from his ex-employer.”

More respect! Oh what a (dieing) feeling!

  • oh what a feeling

ghisgt you sound like a bit of a follower of toyota around the world there’s not a lot to say bad about toyota hence you can only find a few articles! just dont go looking for to much garbage about xyz car company otherwise your research would take up the whole forum! AND YES TOYOTA STILL IS THE MOST RESPECTED! wow how’s this anti-spam word “toyota”

  • GhisGT

Didn’t have to look too hard did I? Top article on the massive auto site, Autoblog. :)

I’m sure the family of that dead worker is thrilled with the brand.

My anti-spam word was ‘Seat’, but who even cares?

  • Wheelnut

So I take it Dingo that as you find it hard to believe that a 10 year old German Sports car like BMs M3 is worth more than $30k you’d find it almost impossible to believe that a 21 year old 1987 HSV VL SS Group A Walkinshaw Commodore can fetch up to $150K let alone an HDT COmmodore

  • Wheelnut

Burt – go to http://www.australianmusclecarsales.com.au They have both Larry Perklins’s 1995 and 1997 Bathurst Winning VR and VS Castrol Commodores with original paintjob etc for a mere $295;000

  • Wheelnut

That’s $295K EACH for Larry Perkins Commodores which come complete with spare wheels/tyres brakes and panels etc – that is if should you want to race them

  • Bavarian Missile

    Antispam word Toyota………….

Ok appolgies to Tomas your not DINGO {amazing to have 3 Toyota extremists on this site}……..however when I posted last night that you hadn’t added a pic of your Toyota Truck .You finally added the pic and joined after I asked you for the second time! Also waiting for an apologie on calling my car a bomb! As far as what my car is worth I never said a new TuRD you did,and I can pick a second hand one up for $46,000 in Melbourne,so as my car is valued at $50,000 cause its more than an anniversary model its an “individual” with very low ks on it that still makes it worth more than a TuRd let alone nail its arse to the wall!

Dingo you know Im female so why say I have 2 d.cks? Is there any chance that you and your new mate can answer a post without insulting that person, all it shows is that your pissed off and have a low intellect.

  • Bavarian Missile

You clearly dont read unique cars mate do you………..

Wheres my apology for calling my car a bomb…..mmmmmmmm

For your info my car was recently valued by Shannons before they insured again and for my current property settlement so perhaps that will shut you up as you have no knowledge of what people will pay for specialty cars! I paid 15k over its value 3 years ago cause of what it was so unless you actually know something about collectible cars I would button it! Cause from what you supplied on the forum compared to what I have owned over the last 20 years I clearly have a lot more knowledge on the subject!

  • Bavarian Missile

hahaha.nice one Realcars Im guessing thats all he knows about, collectible Toyotas………..thats an oxymoron!

  • AC COBRA

Where is the respect, I think Toyoda should admit they cheated this company survey and fooling the public, it’s been going on 2 long we want the truth.

Toyota admits aiding exam cheats: Mr Cho Toyo president says consumers’ faith has been shaken..
Japan’s biggest car maker, Toyota, has apologised after admitting it helped staff cheat in a state mechanics’ exam.
The transport ministry asked a Toyota official to help draft some of the questions in the exam, the country’s highest auto engineering certificate.

The official then checked the questions with the firm’s service, where staff leaked them onto an internal website.

“This incident… betrays consumers’ trust in Toyota,” said Toyota president Fujio Cho.

    Tainted record grows…

Almost half the 7,300 aspiring mechanics who took the tests were from Toyota.

It is not yet certain how many of those had prior warning of the questions, but staff from 240 of the 308 participating Toyota dealers accessed the website before the exams.

Toyota has now promised that all its staff will have to retake the test, and the transport ministry said it was still considering what action to take.

The annual state mechanics’ exam is one of the toughest tests in the Japanese car business.

Last year, of the 9,000 candidates who took part, only 330 passed.

  • Tomas79

    Bavarian Missile,
Just because some doggy dealer advertises a car for a ridicules price certianly does not mean he will sell it for that much!! If i went to car point, and advertised my car for 200K, would suddenly be all the other cars of the same model be worth so much?

Besides speaking from personal experience, the vast majority of people who tend to buy old BMW, with no intention of restoration, tend not to know much about cars, they buy it for the flash wank badge value, since they wanna look rich yet can’t afford a new one!!

Not that entry level BMW, on the australian market with all the associated taxes and tarrifs is a smart buy!!

Look up Red Book, 30-34K is the value of the 98 M3 anniversary edition, and i bet that hasn’t been updated recently, since cause of the economic boom, used car hold almost no value!!

    realcars Says:

  • Bavarian Missile

For a start Tomas it was private sale…………you clearly have a warped sense of value if you base everything on Red book.Wheres my apologises?????????mmmmmmmmmmmm

  • oh what a feeling

bavarian missle now you have us reading unique cars that is the biggest w**k magazine around you simply think of a figure then double it and then show your mates or girlfriends how much (you think!) your car is worth because it’s in a magazine! does anyone ever sell anything in unique cars? you will need to try a lot harder than that! and by the way what has any of this got to do with this starting topic! keep to the subject!

  • Tomas79

    Bavarian Missile,
Obviously you live in a fantasy world, if you only base you values, on the peak tag prices of some dodgy car dealers, without consulting industry publication such as redbook!!

Ok i tried not having to get personal with your car, put your pushing me into it!! Apologies for what?!! I stand by my original statement!! 10 years is dam old!! there is a reason why most financial institutions don’t give out loans for cars that old!!

  • Bavarian Missile

Dingo you know nothing about collectible cars either and Unique cars is a great way to sell a car, done it several times and pulled top dollar on them, when it comes to collectible cars its worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and plus as I said it was valued by Shannons too recently but I guess you think there a wank as well……..then again I dont think they insure Toyotas cause you have to be a car enthusiast!

You trying to stay on topic hahahahaha thats a joke!

  • Tomas79

Spot on “oh what a feeling”!!
I guess Bavarian missile should ask Caradvice to let her do her own daily editorial about her m3!!

  • Wheelnut

Quote [Tomas79]:Just because some doggy dealer advertises a car for a ridicules price certianly does not mean he will sell it for that much!!

Well theres a “dodgy” dealer down the road from us who is selling a range of cars including:
    Toyota Aurions for $35-50K
    Toyota Camrys for $28-40K and
    Toyota Corollas for $20-30K
    Toyota RAV4s for $30-40K
    Toyota Klugers for $40-60K
    Toyota Prados for $50-80k

All ridiculously high prices and far more than what they are worth yet all of them appear to be selling quite well.
The only ones he’s having trouble moving are the TRD models

  • oh what a feeling

good one thomas79!! realcars are you a valuer as well buddy because your knowledge astounds me! NOT!!!!! keep to the subject or get off!

  • Wheelnut

Why is it that all of a sudden Dingo you [and CAR ADVICE for that matter] are so concerned about staying on topic?

Given that on several occassions you [or one of your many aliases] have made an appearance on various other blogs on this site; of which the topic has nothing to do with Toyota but another manufacturer [they do exist] and hi-jacked it

So that all instead of TALKING about the car which the article is about in a civilised manner we end up doing is ARGUING about Toyota usually with personal insults/attacks and offensive language – all of which comes from you

And don’t tell me that you don’t do it. It wouldn’t be so bad if you could maintain a level-head or offer some constructive criticism but you can’t… it’s all Toyota Toyota Toyota – Lexus Lexus Lexus – NASCAR NASCAR NASCAR – TRD TRD TRD

It’s the reason why I made my previous statement [on July 9th] that:

Even if we did visit another particular blog with a topic that isn’t related to Toyota…. I have no doubt that sooner or later you would make your appearance on that blog and HI-JACK IT as you always do so we end up arguing about Toyota anyway..

    Please Explain?

  • Millatime

Congrats to Toyota on their success in RETAILING cars, they are certainly a success story…

..but as I enjoy DRIVING I would never own one.

  • Wheelnut

Note: I made the above statement/asked a Question without the use of offensive language becoming insulting or making personal attacks…. See it is possible!

  • Tomas79

Wingnut, the difference is the toyota dealer is actually “selling them”, and given the latest sales statistics, he must be selling them at the right price!! Thats why Toyota has such a long waiting period. I had to wait 6 months to get my car!!

But obviusly you dont value quality!!

Maybe if Ford and Holdens drop their price a little, they might actually sell some too!!

  • Bavarian Missile

What are you talking about Tomas……..as I said you know nothing about collectible cars do you! What someone is prepared to pay for a car sets the selling point ,why cant you understand that! How do you think Aussie Muscle cars have increased in value, by what the previous one sold for, thats how it works!

Red book is a guide only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!For dealers too!

Tried not to get personal with my car…………hahaha thats a laugh your opening statement yesterday before you saw it was it was a bomb!Seems to me you both have an inferiority complex, whats up have a problem with a woman owning a car like an M3? Seems so!!

Oh and in regard to lenders loaning money on 10 year old cars……….maybe if your talking about the run of the mill boring family cars that you both own, however when it comes to REAL cars performance and collectible Ive never had a problem,my car is currently through BMW…………..and when it comes to buying $800,000 phase 3 I know plenty of banks that have lent that sort of money to purchase one, hell I know guys that have bought them for superannuation! So as Ive previously mentioned you both are talking about nothing you know about, stick to your Toyota surveys and let the educated people discuss collectible cars!

Funny how you want to change the subject and get back on topic Dingo when your losing !

  • Millatime

    Anti spam word BMW M3!!

The M3 is in anyones language a desirable and classic car. There can be no argument or dispute over that, and that is reflected in their re-sale values. TRD Aurion is not even in any way close.

At the risk of great insult – Tomas 79 – Red Book is certainly NOT an industry publication.

  • Wheelnut

Tomas you had to wait 6 months for your Prado “Mobile Fortress”. I have been told that I can expect to wait up to 6 months for my new Holden SS Ute too…. maybe more

Not only because of local demand but overseas exports too Plus the fact the new VE Sportwagon has been released – for which there is a similar waiting period.

Need I mention the waiting period for HSVs compared to TRDs?

  • Wheelnut

As it seems Toyo-philes are such big fans of Surveys:

I remember an article/survey in NRMA Open Road Magazine a couple of years ago when they interviewd mums outside a school in Sydney as they were picking up their kids.. The car park was full of Large 4x4s including PRADOS

Thet were asked a series of questions as to what they like about cars etc..

When assked as to why they bought such a large cumbersome vehicle. the majority of mothers replied that it was because that in the past they had so many accidents in regular sedans they needed something bigger..

Shows the mentality of most 4×4 drivers I can’t drive a normal car so I’ll drive a mobile fortress…. hell why not just by a sherman tank?

I’m just amazed that they could get insurance let alone have a licence

  • oh what a feeling

wheeltime you are being a hypocrite! it seems to me your the one highjacking blogs (way more so when it’s toyota content) and you can also be offensive!

  • Tomas79

Bavarian missile, seriously you are confusing an old bomb with collectibles!! With collectibles the price increases wih age, with old bombs it just drops!! Lets not forget your original statement….

“My car is still currently worth more than your top of the range so called Toyota performance car that would be a TuRD………and still being 10 years old will kick ANY CURRENT TOYOTAS ARSE IN AUSTRALIA!”

Please don’t tell me you still believe it?!
I’ll let you get of gracefully, and won’t wont mention the 98 M3 vs 08 TRD power figures!!

Anyway you bogans are boring me, as “ohh what a feeling said” said “so keep to the subject or get off!”

  • oh what a feeling

the real reason “wheeltime” you have to wait for any daewoo i mean holden product is not demand but wind back THEY ARE NOT SELLING CARS so they are cutting back production!hsv included!

  • Tomas79

Wingnut Please explain the relevance of your last post to this article??

Whats the difference with mothers driving a 4×4 to school, and a mother driving a M3 coupe to school?! The mothers of the 4×4 cared more about their kids to use 5 door wagon!!

But keep to the subject or get off!!
Don’t you have a forum to discuss of topic subejcts su as this?!!

  • oh what a feeling

bavarian missile you dont believe that your 10 year old m3 would beat a trd aurion do you!look at the power figures for a start: aurion trd 241kw, 13.6@102 qtr/mile, bring it to willowbank raceway anyday! you wont believe this bavarian anti-spam bmw

  • Millatime

Bavarian Missile – how dare you suggest your 10 year old M3 could be better than Toyota Australia’s finest!

Compared to a TRD Aurion your M3 is simply not in the race when it comes to producing understeer! Just not in the race at all.

And can you imagine how many hundreds of dollars the TRD will be worth in 10 years time??

  • Fenno

Sorry about the cut’n paste but this needs to be said.

    1995 TOYOTA CELICA

    ST205R GT4 Liftback 2dr Man 5sp 4WD 2.0T
    Prices based on km 130,000 – 240,000
    Trade in price guide* $12,600 – $15,500
    National average price – private sale* $16,200 – $19,100
    Price when new (RRP) $81,680
all prices quoted are GST inclusive where applicable

For you people that are quoting Toyota’s resale as a strong point….This is truly only the case with the good Toyota’s (ie the 4wd’s). In the case of the sports cars or the sedans, they fare no better. Above is a good example.
If you dont believe me, look at the resale values for the Avensis, MR2, Celica and anything else they have half-done.
This is what will happen to the TRD Aurion. It’s resale will plummet quicker than the WTC.

  • Fenno

….and I cant imagine the TRD car club to be much more exciting than a convention of Used vacuum-cleaner salesmen.

  • oh what a feeling

millatime no worries mate in 10 years time do the same as everyone else and just put it in “unique cars magazine” and put $30,000 on it! it will be good for that!no stuff it put $40,000 on it!

Still waiting for that apology for calling my car a bomb! What was that based on too by the way.Your just like your mate have no credibility on this site.

You want to discuss Toyotas……….why? YAWN

Hang on heres another story from AUTO BLOG on how Toyota treat their workers

“Lending a bit of credence to recent allegations made by The National Labor Committee regarding workers right abuses by Toyota is the recent death of a lead engineer on the Camry hybrid project. Although the man died back in 2006, the Japanese Health Ministry has just now ruled that the man died of karoshi, which is a Japanese word meaning death from overwork. This ruling will allow his family to receive benefits from his ex-employer. The 45-year old man is survived by a daughter and his wife, who recalls her husband working long eighty-hour work weeks, along with frequent nights and weekends. Just prior to his death, he was working on shipping logistics related to the Detroit Auto Show, a trip he missed by just one day. Toyota responded to the ruling by saying that it would monitor its workers health more closely.

  • Millatime

OWAF- you could be really daring (not a common trait amongst Toyota owners though) and whack it in for 41K, and the silence would be deafening..

  • Golfschwein

    I’ll keep to the subject.

I wonder how many of these 60,000 discerning survey respondents have been stranded by their Camry’s blown head gasket?

How many have even owned a Camry and watched the interior cloth door trim peel away from its backing before their eyes?

An Aurion-driving friend had his billowing carpet replaced under warranty. Now that the replacement carpet is doing the same, he’s decided to put up with this mild distraction underneath his feet just because he doesn’t want to take his car in again. At least the over-bright centre console lighting was fixed, but that was a design issue that Toyota heeded as a result of complaints.

Hey, I know the quality is mostly very good, good enough to top this survey even, but it’s not perfect. No car is.

  • Bavarian Missile

haha Fenno the TuRD car club thats is funny! Ill have to keep my eye out for it next time at the Whiteman Park Car Show in 2009 . What a fun bunch of guys to do a cruise with they would be,burnout anyone? Woops front wheel drive.

Millatime……mmm never thought of it that way!Well said!

Dingo I dont think Unique cars accept Toyotas cause as the name suggests its for unique cars not your average family hack! Just as Shannon’s wouldn’t insure them either!Oh and thats not a factory time is it…………13.6 what are you smoking? I guess if I ever find one on the street Ill let you know how much I nailed it by Dingo!

  • Bavarian Missile

Hey Golfy,I know your wondering why am I bothering? Im starting to wonder the same thing?

Ill send you an email with my new home number cause my mobile cuts out up here ,Kalamunda has crap phone coverage!

We should do lunch next week and a bottle of something.

  • Tomas79

Death by Koroshi, Ofcourse only Toyota would aspire it’s workers to that level of dedication!!

In the ford and holden camps, you wouldn’t even see a single soul around 5 minutes past knock off time! This level dedication can be seen in the quality of their products!!

And you guys were talking about passion!! :-)

Bavarian missile, your embracing your self!! don’t make me post the TRD aurion statiscs!!

  • Bavarian Missile

Come on I want to see your beloved stats on the 2007 3.5 V6 Supercharged TuRD…………and while your at it whats its factory 1/4 mile time? I know its 0-100 is 6.2 sec I take it you understand power to weight dont you?

Im embracing myself am I ??? I think you mean your embarrassing yourself………….

  • Bavarian Missile

241 kws from 3.5 v6 supercharged performance is pathetic when BMW can extract 252kws out of 3.2 normally aspirated………waiting for you to impress me with Toyota figures……….

Not to mention when your at the line still trying to steer it in a straight line I’m gone in my 6 speed manual!

  • Tomas79

Nah i mean Embracing yourself and your M3!!

  • Fenno

    Ok, back on topic.
Toyota’s Success can be attributed to Key points
    1. The worlds best marketing machine
    2. QDR – (Quality durability and Reliability) which is consistant throughout the range.
    3. A range that covers EVERY segment of the market. (Sometimes they even have two or three vehicles to fit a single segment)

This is something that no other manufacturer can match. It doesnt make them better….just bigger.
Would you call McDonalds the best restauarant in the world?
No, I would bet one of the family jewels they are the biggest…and in some survey somewhere, they may even be the most trusted.

  • Golfschwein

    Fenno’s got it.

  • Tomas79

TRD Aurion 3.5L V6 engine delivering 241kW of power and
    400Nm of torque.

    Vs 1998 M3 236kw and 350nm(when new)!!

Hmmmm i wonder how much of that power is left in a car of that age!!

  • Tomas79

    Worlds best marketing machine??
I haven’t seen a single advert for my Toyota car on the tv yet??? mmm… smells more like a bogan scapegoat to me!!!!

Will we bring up the 4.0 quad cam V6 litre version in the Slowlux compared to the new F6 ?

Slowlux 225 kws Yawn and 453Nms of torque

    F6 4.0 inline 300kws and 550Nms of torque

Can someone explain why the 4.0 litre from TuRD Slowlux has less kws than the 3.5 V6 in the Aurion/Camry TuRD with a different badge!

The SURVEY says that Toyota are apparently the worlds most respected company… but what are they the most respected company at?

I mean were the questions extremely general – I suspect they were; or did they refer to a particular/specific area of business – because there is no way Toyota could possibly be the best at everything.. particularly as this survey involved every major company from every industry

Which is why I say factors such as: how the questions were worded; how the questions were asked; how the questions were interpreted; the type of people who took part in the survey; how the answers were interprted not to mention when and where the survey was done etc…. can have a dramatic impact on the results

I am not begrudging the fact that in this particular survey Toyota came out on top all I am saying that Surveys are by no means as factual as clinical tests etc as there are standardised procedures that are followed so that the results are the same.. whereas the results of a survey can vary each time you do it.

Exactly BM. There are some [on this site] who say that the engines in the Holdens and Fords are pathetic low-tech engines…. yet they are more flexible and easily produce more useable power than their more high-tech counterparts such as the V6 in the [TRD] Aurion

  • Fenno

    Thomas,
Your TV is broken. What do you drive that Toyota have never advertised? BTW, There are more mediums than TV…you’re using one now.
    Bogan Scapegoat????
Are you insinuating that I am of urban middle-class descent?
Get over yourself mate – You have no idea.
You’re flogging a dead horse with the M3/Aurion arguement. EVERY SINGLE RESPECTABLE DRIVER IN THE WORLD WOULD RATE THE E36 M3 OVER ANY…I REPEAT ANY TOYOTA EVER SOLD.
    Motor Quote 14.2 for the quarter-mile on a TRD…
I must ask though, for someone as …(ahem) gifted as yourself, Have you even driven the TRD?

QUOTE [DINGO]: this blog has got way out of hand i am leaving now, what started as a happy feel good article has gone to far! shut it down now!

Finally we agree on something Dingo… This article/topic has received at least 230 comments more than what it deserved.

NOTE This is the 230th Oomment

  • Bavarian Missile

Where did you come up with those figures from Dingo I need a link to the site please? If its from your local drag strip it doesn’t count !

Tomas what do you mean how much power left in it cause of its age? As I said its low klms nothing to do with age. Cars actually get faster the looser they get! How much power has it lost well if me regularly betting most local factory V8s including the old BF GTs that also had the same performance figures its lost nothing, not to mention I just about parked in the boot of a VE SS 2 days ago cause he ran out of puff when it was trying to out accelerate me!!

As I said its all about power to weight……..

    E36 M3 weight 1460kgs

    TuRD Aurion weight 1630 kgs

So thats 230 kgs more coming from your over weight front wheel drive wrist braking torque steering TuRD!

What your leaving without being banned Dingo………

Please stop comparing the likes of TuRD with Bavarian Motorsport, even the guys at TuRD would laugh at you!

  • Phill

Luke GT – Your the unresonable,Your just putting what you don’t like about yourself onto anyone who does agree with you, your IQ is starting to show.As i said before Toyota won’t enter any racing series were they can’t dominate from the outset. Also have you gone to FIAGT website, its three series GT2,GT3 and GT4 heres the cars from all three classes Aston Martin,Ferrari,Lamborgini,Maserati,Porshe,Nissan,Lotus, KTM,BMW,Audi,Jaguar,Morgan,Ascari,Ford,GM,Dodge,Ponoz,Seleen and Gillet,Toyotas hasn’t got a car to run in any of the classes.
Even if they had a car they probobly get booted out for cheating,”If you can’t beat them change the game”or cheat. While Ford and olden offer products people want(RWD),Toyota tell people what they want.

  • Bavarian Missile

Thankyou Millatime I could kiss you for coming up with those figures on 1/4 mile times.Where did Dingo get his from?

  • Tomas79

    Fenno,
Judging by your response “Are you insinuating that I am of urban middle-class descent?
Get over yourself mate – You have no idea.”

So you insinuating that you are better then the urban middle-class?! You are a much worse then a bogan, a sound like a complete wanker!!

  • oh what a feeling

i will tell you clowns again i am not dingo!!willowbank raceway june 2008 test&tune showroom trd aurion full spare, full tank fuel, traction control on 1st run 13.8@101 2nd run 13.8@102 3rd run 13.6@102 i am still waiting for those bmw times 14.0@98 thank you!

  • oh what a feeling

and by the way that’s leaving it in auto! not manual mode!

  • Bavarian Missile

Dingo those aren’t factory times like the M3s are so unfair comparison,we dont know what mods have been done to it,doesn’t count!

And we’re not going to take your word on the fact its stock are we!

  • Bavarian Missile

I mean I just typed in BMW M3 1/4 mile times and found one guy doing 9.4 quarters in it………..factory no and I guess the Turd Aurion/Camry is either………..give up you have both lost this fight.

  • Fenno

No, Thomas I was questioning as to why you implied that I am of a certain socio-economic demographic when you have zero idea of who I am. As for name-calling. You seem to well out of your depth when it comes to stringing together a coherent response to my arguement(or anyone else’s for that matter) by responding with utter crass. You are yet to enlighten us here with what sort of vehicle you supposedly even own?

In addendum. I live in the “Bogan” capital of Australia my friend (Ipswich,Qld) and have more than a few flannel shirts of my own but am no “Bogan scapegoat” as you eloquently put it. As for your W***er comment.
I am a male. Any male who denies that they do your afore-mentioned act, is truly in denial and should maybe question their own selves before passing judgement.

So how ’bout, you leave the whole attitude out of the forum and stick to the point, which as I see it so far…you have completely missed.

  • Bavarian Missile

Now should we change the subject and ask whos going to win around the track……..hahaha why bother? 50/50 weight displacement and rear wheel drive BMW won again!

Why I am waisting my time comparing your modified family car with one of the worlds most respected names in performance Ill never know………Its not a fair race to TuRD!

  • Wheelnut

Okay then – However; inorder to get a more fair reasonable let alone more accurate comparison you should look for instances where the same [race car] driver was at the wheel of both cars [both then and now] otherwise the reaction time will be different.

Yet as we can see here by comparing a 10 year old German Engineered RWD naturally Aspirated I6 cyl Sports Coupe such as the M3 to a Brand New Japanes/Local engineered FWD Supercharged V6 sedan in the TRD

You have a thing for comparing apples with oranges. Surely it makes more sense to compare apples with apples which would be either

A 98 BMW M3 with a 98 VN Lexcen [from the same year]
A 08 BMW M3 with a 08 TRD Aurion [again from the same year]
A 08 3 Series Sedan with a 08 TRD Aurion [same body style]

  • Millatime

    Tomas79-

Please tell us, exactly what DO you drive???

A Dyna? Or is it an Avalon? Please tell us..

And please leave out the ignorant insults.

  • Wheelnut

Come to think of it Oh What A Feeling Dingo and his Crue are right the FWD TRD Aurion would quite literally run rings around the M3 mainly due to torque steer

Particularly as we have been told [on so many occassions] Toyota is also dominating NASCAR – where all they do is go round and round in circles

  • Bavarian Missile

Fenno to these guys if you dont love Toyota’s then your a bogan………….

As far as them getting or even understanding points they are in denial to facts and change the subject to suit themselves when their wrong! If you think you’ll get an apology I wouldn’t wait around Im still waiting for one from Tomas after he called my car a bomb before seeing it since yesterday!

A real man/woman can admit hes wrong and apologise but not these 2

  • Wheelnut

I have had alook on the car advice forum and Tomas79 drives a 3.0 Litre Prado 4×4 so if anyone is an authority on performance let alone performance cars it would be him and not someone who owns a BMW M3

  • Bavarian Missile

Hey Millitime he drives a Prado…………go to the forum in introductions he finally put the pic up late last night after I asked too several times!

Im guess with nobbly tyres like those it would be terribly noisy on the road Tomas! Hardly a performance vehicle is it?

  • Fenno

    Haven’t stopped laughing yet…Thanks WN,MT & BM.

  • Tomas79

    Fenno,
Obviously, you are the one missing the point here, since even bavarian missile able to find out what car i drive from the discussion above!! And a for me calling you a bogan, where was that you idiot?! “Bogan scapegoat” = Bogan excuse!!
All you anti-toyota people always blame the it’s success on advertising!!

Also, I don’t know why you bogans are so sensitive to being called “bogans”? I could be called one all day, and i would not care!! I guess it’s way too close to the truth!!

  • Bavarian Missile

I know its been a fun 3 hours Fenno,of which I should have been doing other things but couldn’t resist embarrassing the 2 Toyota lovers hang on they did that themselves……….mission accomplished !

  • Tomas79

I apoligies for the scrambled post above, bad pasting…

  • Wheelnut

Quote [George July 10] :Anyway, it’s just my 2 cents to encourage more constructive comments.

You have probably realised George that because of a select few [3 to be exact] the day you happen to find any constructive comments/criticism let alone civilised discussions were they can accept other peoples different opinions without people resorting to insults personal attacks or offensive language.

Will probably be the day Hell Freezes Over.. or South Sydney win the NRL

  • Tomas79

Bavarian missile your the one embarrassing yourself on here!!!

Yep, it’s a prado, and it’s brilliant for what i wanna do!!
Yep, it surely is much more fun to me then a boring old 2wd coup!!
Hey it even has more torque!!

  • Millatime

    Tomas79 -

…bad pasting, grammar and wheels too…

No wonder you think the M3 is rubbish! How do you cope with all that horsepower? You must’ve destroyed sooooo many M3′s at the traffic lights!!

  • Bavarian Missile

Name calling simply shows low intellect when it comes to defending an argument, something you and Dingo excel at!

Have you looked up the word Bogan and its meaning yet Tomas?

Can I give you an insite into what they drive?

    • A particular choice in motor vehicle. The bogan usually drives one of two makes of vehicle. Typically this is either a Holden or a Ford . Common bogan variants manufactured by each of these companies include the Holden Commodore (VB-VP models), Holden Kingswood and the Ford Falcon (all models up to the recent EF). Other well known bogan vehicles include early model Datsuns and TOYOTAS

mmm….so it seems any early Holden Ford Datsun or Toyota your a Bogan……………Well thats me out and Im guessing most others on this thread……….so stop the name calling Tomas cause thats another battle you’ve just lost!

  • Wheelnut

C’mon Bavarian Missile Millatime Fenno George etc….
we have successfully won the battle. Let’s leave this battlefield where we have left the bodies of our Toyota Loving enemies/victims lying in our wake….

Mmmm…. sounds kind of familiar doesn’t it Dingo; TP?

  • Bavarian Missile

hahaha………Im really beginning to like you Millatime,

As he lives in Perth to I cant wait to met him a the lights………….Ill give him a head start!hehehe

  • Wheelnut

There is a japanese proverb which says he who throws the first punch is lost.

Given that the Toyo-philes on this site are such big fans of Japanese culture etc.. they should be able to guess that what the proverb means is that:

By resorting to insults personal attacks and using offensive language etc and not being able to show any signs of self control or hold a discussion in a courteous civilised manner

You are running out of options and resources to help support your arguements… once you do that you start to lose the fight

Which going by several of your comments particularly those from Dingo and Oh What A Feeling they obviously did.

Alot of Traditional Japanese culture is based around living in harmony [Feng-Shui] something it seems Oh What A Feeling and his Crue are unable to do.

  • Millatime

    Tomas79

…bad pasting, grammar and wheels too…

Now I’ve got to add really poor comprehension skills as well..

Please, I don’t want you to like me..

  • Wheelnut

So Tomas79 are you one of the 0.00000000000000000000000001% of 4×4 owners who are game enought to get their precious 2-pack metallic paintwork dirty and actually take it off road?

  • Millatime

    Wheelnut -

I agree, time to leave them to their shattered dreams..

It’s been fun, well done BM and Fenno

    Goodnight all!

  • Bavarian Missile

hahaha…….you couldn’t resist could you babe!

Oh whats up Tomas hit a nerve? The point was that once again you’ve missed the point, you talk about performance cars and you drive a FWD………..nothing wrong with that had 2 land cruisers myself, they make great off road and tow vehicles ,they dont make a tow bar for an M3………but what have you owned thats performance to compare against?

I have a good friend that has a 2007 Prado Grande but also owns an XC Cobra a BF Cobra and has a 2008 Shelby GT 500 on its way……………does that make him a bogan too?

  • Bavarian Missile

What debate Dingo its done and dusted………..

  • Bavarian Missile

Night Millatime………..Im off too for a while, got things to do!

  • Wheelnut

    How apt antispam word: BMWM3

Well ccording to dictionary.com a Bogan is a backwater or a narrow stretch of water [similar to a creek]

There are no definitions where the word Bogan refers to any human characteristics or qualities etc at all

  • Tomas79

    Bavarian Missile,
Racing off on the Light, thats such a bogan and imature thing to do!!
I’m personally glad they started taking away cars from hoons!!

After racing off other cars at the traffic lights, are you gonna continue your bogan night out doing burn outs at your local woollies parking lot?

    I don’t own a FWD!! It’s a constant full-time 4wd!!
And yeah, it might not be the fastest car onroad, but certainly is more fun off-road on the weekends!!

And why the talk of performance cars?? thats what not the topic is about!!

  • Tomas79

    Wheelnut Says:
“So Tomas79 are you one of the 0.00000000000000000000000001% of 4×4 owners who are game enought to get their precious 2-pack metallic paintwork dirty and actually take it off road?”

Of course, go to pradopoint.com and see how many people genuinely do take them off road!!

  • AC COBRA

Luke GT, Ford does not manufacture Tires, you see they manufacture cars for enthusiasts, the Explorer was “floored” when they fitted Firestone tires to the SUVs and Firestone admitted they made fawlty tires causing rollovers, so who’s in the wrong hmmmmmmmmm I guess the Firestone company.

How many deaths did foul handling Toyotas cause over the last forty years or so? Kapow…ouchy couchy

Then u can see what a real performance car drives like.

    They do go better!

Better wait until they remove the splints from your wrists.

No doubt medicos will point to cars like the Aurion in the future for the rise in carpal tunnel syndrome.

  • Tomas79

    LukeGT, Good stuff!!
Mate, sounds like bogan fairies will be crying themselfs to sleep tonight!!!

    Hey Realcars!!
I’m still waiting for you to tell me what car you drive, I been waithing from a few post back??!! Better yet, post it up on the forum, I’m up for a good laugh!! :-)

LukeGT, yep thats holden for you!!
Thanks for that tip, I’ll get that issue, for a good laugh and future reference :-) !!
They were so lucky the TRD aurion wasn’t present….
Seriusly, i get the feeling that even the koreans now have overtaken these two big domestics, in termsof quality!!

Seriously, if the TRD released a RWD aurion, ford and holden might as well shut their plants!!

  • oh what a feeling

sorry guys i work at night so can only get on here like now! my comment’s on the qtr mile times for a trd aurion are 100% truth i know the car that did it, it is showroom and i mean showroom 1000km on the clock no mods at all they didn’t even take out the spare! we were just as surprised as everyone because of the magizine article’s saying 14.1 time’s well they either dont know how to drive a front steerer or there timing equipment is wrong! so bavarian missile i am still waiting to kick your ass on the straight track or round i dont care put your money where your BIG mouth is! i live in queensland and willowbank raceway is my closest track or maybe your 10 year old beemeer would break down getting there and then knowing bmws that will cost you many $1000′s to get it back on the road!!!!!

  • oh what a feeling

no lukegt it was at a test & tune just before the winters so the track was not fully prepared like the times they did at the winters! everyone was blowen away by how quick the trd was, that is a lot quicker than most SO CALLED high performace passenger cars getting around today!

  • oh what a feeling

they can do that and still get 9.9lt/per100km fuel consumption what’s a hsv rated at around 16.9lt/per100km!

  • Tomas79

    Another Decisive Victory for Toyota!!!

  • toyota #1

toyota may have a couple of models that are a bit plane, but the engine and parts you dont have to replace all the time, have you seen a brand where you have to replace the heads every 100,000km(thats ford for you) yes ford are nice to drive , better then holden but the ford and holden ar a s@#! build quality.
