Toyota world’s most respected company
If Toyota fans needed any more ammunition to support their brand, here it is. More than 60,000 people in 27 countries have anonymously voted Toyota as the world’s most respected company.
Scoring 86.53 out of 100 in a survey conducted by New York-based private research and consulting firm Reputation Institute, the Big T came out as number one amongst the world’s top 1,000 companies on perceptions of trust, esteem, admiration and good feeling.
No other car company was listed in the top 30. Volvo came in at 32nd, Honda 39th, BMW 88th and Daimler 99th.
Google came in behind Toyota which also led from Swedish furniture retailer IKEA and Italian chocolate-maker Ferrero.
In a more local study, Australian Reader’s Digest has also reported that Toyota is the most trusted automotive brand in the country. Mercedes-Benz came in second, followed by BMW, Holden, Honda and Mazda. Mitsubishi came in last (no doubt affected by its Adelaide plant closure).

60,000 voters is not many people, 6 million people would make a viable survey but not 60,000, how many people were paid associates for the company, Toyoda will do anything to get recognition or PR..

For once, I have to agree with AC COBRA. 60,000 is quite an un conclusive number of people to survey, considering the amount of people that buy Toyotas.

60,000 isnt much? Its called a sample kids… notice the 86.53 / 100 figure… thats quite a large sample. Im sure those who conducted the survey have reached statistically correct conclusion. Toyota is number 1.
(Report)
July 7th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
AC Cobra is correct, it should be atleast 0.5% of the population. Since its being compared to companies outside its industry it should be 0.5% of the Australian population which would mean they should have surveyed 1067844 people. Therefore its not a fully representative study. Its valid but not fully representative. You must note they only had to survey more than 30 people for the study to be statistically valid.

Hardly surprising considering Toyota’s whole marketing strategy is around the “Oh what a feeling” slogan.
Toyota’s marketing team deserve another pay rise.Should throw a couple of extra million Lawsie’s way as well as a tribute.
John Laws made Toyota in Australia after all.
Say something enough and eventually people will believe it.
Kaizen is Japanese for bullshit. It is Toyota’s marketing that should be studied by other manufacturers that want to be successful.

Mazda/Honda for many years have made a superior product to Toyota but haven’t got “oh what a feeling” talking their product up.
Constant advertising around unbreakable, tough etc etc etc.
even appealing to patriotism with claims of landcruiser built Australia.
I am sure Toyota have used similar tactics around the world.
Regardless of there being any truth to these claims people now subconsciously associate these qualities with Toyota.

Ha Readers Digest is more likely to be read by Toyota drivers than anybody else…..
Perhaps others respect them so much because they make them so easy to steal - the Toyota Aurion was just rated worst large car in the NRMA security ratings.
In any case owning a Toymotor says a lot about the person driving it - female (or just got no balls), old or old before your time, bland, dull, boring, a car is just transport from A to B, braindead, probably with a name like Dennis, etc, etc.

60,000 people is a decent quantity to survey. However, you have to bare in mind, that there are also over 50,000 people who actually believe in Scientology. Yes I know that there is absolutely no correlation between Toyota and Scientology, other than of course, brainwashing….

For a worldwide survey 60,000 is nothing. Who was surveyed? In what countries?
I’m not knocking Toyota, but notice that the survey was on ‘respect’. What does respect mean? How do you measure respect?
For example: I respect Nissan for consistently making cars that are great for drifting/tuning/general larikinism. Others clearly respect Toyota for making ‘reliable’ cars. These two concepts of respect are not compatible.
So it’s a bit of a meaningless survey, doesn’t really say anything at all. But whatever, go Toyota.
A more useful survey might be ‘admiration’. I ‘respect’ the Corolla for being a cheap little run-about. But I ‘admire’ the BMW M5 (anti-spam word) for being superbly awesome. Thus if I had the money which one do you think I’d buy?
(Report)
July 7th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
I’m ready to bet that the reason why Toyota is the most respected is because of the Prius. I’m sure that the majority of people think Toyota were being responsible for changing the world. Even though we know its just a clever marketing stratedgy.

Obviously no other manufacturer or real enthusiast knew about this study, I can smell a (T) rat big time, once again very clever toyoda advertising, The cars are bland fleet crap but their promoting worldwide is spot on……

As an owner of a Toyota I could hardly say I respect them. In fact given my dealings with their ’service’ department and the overpriced rubbish they call original spare parts, their inability to satisfactorily service acar, the number of problems that presented themselves in two brand spanking new cars, I can categorically say I have no respect for them. And I would be most unlikely to buy another in the foreseable future. And as an owner of 2 Toyota vehicles which cost a total of 100K on the road 8 years ago, I am in a prime position to comment.
Respected? You are kidding right..!

Hey Glen, you must push your Ford quite often then! I had a BA Falcon and it was the biggest pile of crap I have ever driven, 20 year old Toyota Cressidas are more refined.
I think you all need to remember that the sample was taken from 27 countries, and the “Oh What a Feeling” advertising slogan is only used in Australia (UK = Today Tomorrow Toyota, US = Toyota-Moving Forward etc). If Australia was one of the countries surveyed (and don’t assume it was, Oz isn’t the centre of the Universe you know) only an average of 2222 would have been surveyed, and according to the sales figures an average of 23% (511) would actually own a Toyota. This is about brand respect and awareness, not how many were sold.

this is the result of a survey where a particular group of people were asked a series of questions the majority of which said Toyota is number one
Yet if you take another group of the same number of people and ask them the same questions I doubt that you will get the same result that is percentage of those who also think Toyota is number one
However; if you Multiply 20 by 4 divide by 4 and add 5 [for example] you end up with 25. do it again and you still end up with 25 which is mathematically correct and far more accurate as the result is always the same no matter how many times you run through the process.

“Toyota might consistently finish near the top of quality surveys in the United States, but its cars still lack the appeal of competitors, according to respected automotive research company JD Power and Associates.
The researcher, which is best known for the Initial Quality Study it publishes every year, has just released details of its 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study - and Toyota finishes near the back of the pack.
The APEAL Study examines how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive, based on owner evaluations of ten measures covering more than 90 vehicle attributes.
And while Toyota came sixth in the quality survey, it slumped to 26th in the APEAL study, finishing well below the industry average. “”

Wheelnut, remember that SBS program mentioning that the NIcad
batteries from the Prius had to find their way to Germany for the Nickle Cadnium to be recovered. A total of four trips across the Atlantic if the Prius was sold in America for the various recycling phases to play out. They questioned the real ecological saving.
GM were developing lithium apparently and wouldn’t release a Hybrid until this better cleaner battery tech came online.

True Lotus are powered bt Toyota. Yet how is it that Lotus able to get almost double the amount of power from the same engine by simply bolting on a supercharger. The same engine that is in the current Toyota corolla which has less power than the previous model.
Surely the worlds number one car company would have trhe resources and engineering ability to out-perform such a comparively small car manufacturer
Mind you when their poorer cousin Daihatsu [Toyotas equivalent of Daewoo] bolted a Turbo onto a Toyota engine in the Daihatsu Copen they got almost as much power as a Corolla

Peterd - you refer to the company that Toyota now pays a loyalty sum of $25 per Prius sold. I believe they copied a ‘micro-chip’ that has no connection to the hybrid drivetrain
Bosscr - i equally do not appreciate circus clowns who attempt to hijack articles with anti-Toyota comments that they can rarely support (pure rot) or are often not even remotely connected to market reality.
Maybe your issue is more to do with the raw facts of my comments.
That said, any company can advertise as much as they want but fact remains, if thier products don’t exhibit substance - they won’t sell … PERIOD !!
Take the time and not only acknowledge Toyota’s diverse, competitive, strong and consistant fleet but their consistant strong ranking in all Cust.Satisfaction / Qual.Surveys throughout the world.
Put it this way, no company achieves the success Toyota has by mistake … !!
Phil - Toyota owns shares in Yamaha

I didn;t say anything about Toyota breaching any copyrights etc all I said that when you look at a Toyota you can more often than not there are very few innovative design features that are unique to Toyota.. you are more likely to see things that look as if they were taken from another car and given a slight tweak etc.
For the Kidney Grille and the Hoffmeister Kick [on the M3]is unmistakable a BMW feature.. The Frogmouth grille is a unique a design feature of the Aston Martin
Yet I am struggling to find a design feature in regards to the way a Toyota looks that is uniquely and unmistakably Toyota

Arent bogans a kind of moth that are easily lured towards the bright lights only to become easy prey for the birds
In pretty much the same way a TRD owner gets lured in by what they are lead to believe [by the advertisers and marketers] is a serious performance car because only find that its no more than a regular Aurion with the same V6 plus a bodykit and a supercharger producing only 25Kw more
Whereas FPV can get more than 100Kw more than the standard Falcon from the comparitavely low tech engine by simply bolting on a Turbo
So whos the Bogan?

Tomas79 you are as bad as Dingo (Luke GT) and TP, I don’t believe any dribble you have typed about previously owned Ford’s, I’ve had Toyodas, worst cars ever, Camry which blew 2 engines 1st one at 28,940kms. 2nd did only 22,000kms, paint fading, stereo replaced 3 times and also owned a hilux replaced engine after warranty, cost me $10,000 after all these headaches I turned 2 Ford for reliable transport and they have never let me down or missed a beat for 7 years I owned a Fairmont GHIA and my misses presently has a 2007 Focus, my next car will be either Mondeo or Falcon G6..
Ford has great cars for enthusiast’s, if you like Toyodas good 4 u but your not as inspired with passion or can engaged in any significant racing history, people like u lack automotive spirit, rely on stats, surveys, great advertising, and propaganda dug up from paid media, Priass for instance has been the single most hyped concept in recent history but has ingrown a somewhat controversial stance over long term viability.
Grow some balls Toyoda fans when you can come to me with a argument that has substance and moral value please feel free, we Australian’s deserve the best answers, not cheap shots from uneducating repeated dribble..

Thomas79 - don’t worry about the clowns commenting on this article because fact is … Toyota is s*rewing thier beloved Holdens and Fords right up the a**e with a size 20 steel capped boot and it’s blo*dy painful.
We all know who is the strongest in the global automotive market and it is Toyota with thier mass wealth and profits, strong/diverse/consistant fleet, corporate strength and stability, ongoing strong standings in Cust.Satisfaction / Qual.Surveys, record sales and gaining momentum in motorsport.
The fact is … most of these clowns are just pure and rotten losers who envy Toyota’s global success while thier beloved General Motors and Ford continue to crumble and fall apart …. OOCH !!
Heard the latest good news - GM’s share value has reached an all time low sense 1954 (or is that 1956) with speculation of the possibility they may have to eventually file for Bankruptcy Protection.
The problem with GM and Ford, they listened to much to clowns like most of these idiots and look were it got ‘em … up s**t creek.
Toyota however followed thier instincts and market reality and have now become arguably the most influencial automotive manufactuer of all …CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ‘BIG T’
Read some of the rot these circus clowns write and then compare it to sur*eys / ana*ysis and it is often not even remotely connected to market reality … so sad !!
Most of these sore losers live in la, la land were the fairies are nice to them while people like you and i sit back, enjoy a cold beer and observe the genocide Toyota is inflicting on companies like GM/Holden and Ford.
Oh yeah, even better … Toyota is also beating the American duo in NASCAR which is thier very own sport on thier very own soil … OOCH - HOW PAINFUL !!
No matter wether the sur*ey questioned 60 000, 6 million or the entire global population - it will never be enough coverage for the ‘circus’ but if only 2 people were questioned and GM or Ford listed 1st …. it wil be a fair and justifable sur*ey according to them !!
Take my advice - forget about the pure, rotten crap most of the idiots write because in the ‘Real World’ were there is no la, la, land or fairies … we all know who is No.1
These people spend thier lives making up excuses for thier loses and personally - i’m not into excuses … just results !!
OH WHAT A WARM AND FUZZY FEELING

Isn’t it even more PATHETIC for someone who claims to be a car enthusiast and no a considerable amount about cars to come on a website such as this where other real car enthusiasts meet to talk about the good and bad points of various makes and models of cars.
Yet all the supposed car enthusiast does is hi-jacks blogs to talk about one particular brand as if that’s all he knows to talk about he then regurgitates a series of statistics and surveys etc
Surveys which are usually manipulated and adjusted to suit and are by no means accurate because if you asked the same questions to a different group of people you wouldn’t get the same result.[TP]
I mean if this supposed car enthusiast was a real car enthusiast he would be able to stay on topic and discuss the car in question in a civilised manner instead of always being on the offensive and making personal insults/attacks towards those who have the audacity to have an opinion which is different to his own.

Dingo for once you are right I do know Jack S–t
Jack is the only son of Awe Schitt and O. Schitt - from Alabama.
In turn, Jack Schitt wed No Schitt, and the deeply religious couple
produced seven children: Holie Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Giva Schitt, Bull Schitt,
Buncha Schitt, and the twins: Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt.
Alas, after being married for 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt finally divorced.
Noe Schitt later married Mr. Sherlock, and because her kids were now living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was thus known as Mrs. Noe Schitt-Sherlock.
Some years later, the youngest - Dip Schitt - married a girl named Loda Crock.
Dip Schitt and Loda Schitt produced a rather nervous son - Chicken Schitt.
Soon after, and against his parents’ objections, Deep Schitt followed suit and married Dumb Schitt - a high school drop out.
Sisters Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, who had been inseparable throughout childhood, subsequently married the Happenz brothers in a dual ceremony.
The newspapers announced it as the Schitt-Happenz wedding.
The Schitt-Happenz children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse.
Buncha Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new bride, Piza Schitt.
So not onlly do I know Jack S–t but I know his whole family

Toyota are great at marketing and being consistent with their product just like McDonalds but like Mcdonalds when you taste the product it all tastes the same and no flavor ,boring burgers with no passion.
We’re car enthusiasts that come on this site that appreciate a wide range of cars be that FPV HSV in the local market high class horsepower from Europe or even American Muscle, are they all good cars without faults,no but that doesnt take away that they excite you. So I have to ask why you and other Toyota extremists even bother coming on to this site when your clearly not car enthusiasts and because your product gives you survey satisfaction only and no passion you have to find it in insulting those around you that do! I’d still like to know how anything can be statistically accurate TP?
I mean ask the same questions to another group of people and i doubt you will get the same result as they did in this particular survey
It all depends on where when you did the survey how the questions were worded how the participants interpreted the questions and how the ones performing the survey interpreted the participants answers…. so many variables
Therefore; they are not accurate they are only an indication.
Things that are mathematically or scientifically correct have far more value as the result is always the same no matter when or where you do it.. as there are set formulae and processes to follow
Surveys are more subjective where science and maths are more objective

Phil - actually … you are wrong !!
The AE82 Sprinter was in fact imported by TRD Australia from Japan were it was specially modified for drift racing.
Only recently, TRD Australia including Neal Bates re-engined the Sprinter with a 2SG engine which is the same example found in the TRD S2000 Rally Corolla’s which co-incidentally have been re-trofitted from the Celica GT4.
Infact, the TRD S2000 Corolla’s run the entire GT4 drivetrain including the AWD (except the gearbox which has been replaced by Neal Bate’s own dogbox) fitted into a regular Corolla albiet modified for racing by TRD Australia and Neal Bates Motorsport.
It is worth noting that Neal Bates is now an integral member of TRD Australia.
The Sprinter driven by Beau Yates is infact mechanically, technically and financially supported by TRD Australia.
The buggy raced by Peter Kittle in the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) is his own vehicle but is powered by a modified 2GR-FE engine (3.5 v6) so is mechanically supported (and sponsored) by TRD Australia.
Infact, Petter Kittle is a Dealer Principle of if his own Toyota Dealership … google and read up more about him, his off-road adventures and alliance with TRD Australia.
Actually, it has been lessons learn’t with Peter Kittle’s 2GR-FE powered Off-Road Buggy that has lead TRD Australia to evaluate the possible development of a Drag Racing 2GR-FE donk to replace the current 1300kw (1800hp) 3.2 twin turbo charged L6 Supra engine in Tony Wedlocks TRD Aurion Drag car which currently pulls 6.46 secs and reaches 0 - 100km/h in ‘less’ then 1 second.
Shall i continue educating you about TRD Australia’s current operations … !!
