  • Modern Man

You know it is actually a 5 Year / Unlimited Kilometre warranty on all renault passenger cars, 3 year/ unlimited on the RS only.

      Thanks, that’s what I meant :-)

  • abc123

that convetible is one of, if not the worst looking car…
hideously tacky and cheapy looking. the random grey/glossy black parts don’t even match…

    • Viv R

Somehow I doubt that you could afford it anyway! Keep driving your ex-Govt 380!

Don’t worry though it will depreciate by a full 50% after just 2 years.

  • Baddass

    The Megane CC looks obese.

  • Sam Moss

I am offended by that ‘people in Perth do things differently’ comment. There is a reason why WA is the richest state in Australia! :P

    • Jonson23_@bigpond.com

      Yep…minerals & mining.

    • RK

Yeah, it happens to have lots of stuff in the ground which the people of WA totally put there *eye roll*

    • Yeti Man

      and “Cashed up bogans” :)

  • Jacob

The service intervals are too short: 10,000km

    • Thomad

      Service intervals are 12 months/15,000 Kim’s

  • Joe

Well my daughter just made the comparison between the Golf and the Megane…..the Megane won by a mile.

I sometimes don’t know if you journalists drive the same cars as us mere mortals. The Megane handled way better than the Golf, less understeer, more grip, agree with you regarding the steering, had more interior space, was quieter, don’t know what drugs you were on listening to the stereo, plastics were every bit as good (and at least the words on the buttons won’t wear off like on Golf’s), better warranty, more kit and cheaper.

And , of course there’s the famous Golf reliability….nuff said.

After 5 French cars over the years and not a warranty claim amongst them, you can keep your Germans.

You guys need to get those German tattoos lasered off your eyes……

    • Jonson23_@bigpond.com

      Joe..
      You’re joking right ?
Dynamically not in the same league as the golf..which is one of the best handling small cars money can buy.
So all those car of the year awards should have gone to the Megane?…all those journo’s are wrong & you’re right…
      ok, I believe you.

      • Joe

By the way I drove the Golf back to back with the Megane and other than steering feel, the Megane was better….remember in MY opinion, and the way I like the dynamics in the cars I own.

…..Oh, and you don’t think that journalists come to road tests with pre-concieved ideas on what THEY like and don’t??

    • ariel

….trusting your young daughter for a car comparo ?
Hahaha, you’re not too smart are you Joe ?

      • Joe

No….that was the whole point, she is NOT a car person, she does not listen to journalists or forum writers that have usually not even driven the cars they are commenting on, so she made up her own mind on the drive, features, comfort, HER idea of dynamics not mine, and came to HER conclusion. I was not buying so I did not have a say, I just went along to get a good deal on whatever she decided on.

…..and she preferred the Megane in almost every way except steering feel(a little too light). Sometimes people need to DRIVE, not listen to someone elses opinion of what suits their own driving needs.

        • Henry

I agree the golf is a better car, but i’d buy this cause we all have different choises and this looks better!

    • Viv R

Hummm! The Megane might be a reasonable car but unless you get it at a huge discount then it’s a risky buy from new. Why? Because it will depreciated much quicker than the Golf.

However, buying it as a 2-3yo second hand car for 50% of new car price might be a good buy with 3 years left on the warranty.

    Cabrio looks much cooler.

  • Tim

If I wanted French, I’d go the beautiful new Peugeot 308.

  • Alan Willet

I have a bog standard 2l non-turbo MeganeIIsedan that must be a special one because no Golf or other 2l and bigger sporty cars seem to be able to keep up with it once a corner needs to be negotiated. As for reliability serviced every 10,000 k at around$300, usual maintainence brakes, tyres etc and no problems in 150,000k.
