Sacrilege! An Audi R8 with seatcovers
July 2, 2008 by Karl Peskett
If you can afford the $280K that it costs to park an Audi R8 in your garage, then you’re one of a blessed few.
But when these pics were snapped, the blessing seems to have been on vacation. Apparently taken on the Gold Coast, the aftermarket “additions” shown in these photos leave a little to be desired. I mean, if you’ve got the dosh, then surely something a little more tailored would be appropriate.

As they say, money can’t buy taste.
But tell us – what’s your favourite automotive accessory?

Favourite automotive accessories?
2 actually.
1 – Mesh insect visors (the ones on grandad’s HQ)
2 – Clear plastic tube bullbars (mainly fitted to Camira)
Favourite accessory – Miss J Hawkins.
Yeah – those seat covers/throwovers are really bad news. No telling what will happen if the side airbag needs to deploy.
My favourite accessory would have to be factory car mats. You can not beat the fit and finish of factory mats. They have clips to keep them in place and I like how they mold well around the seats and foot rest. It is an accessory that looks good and serves a purpose which you don’t see too many accessories do these days.
Typical rich tight arse type behaviour.
That’s usually why they are rich in the first place.ha ha ha.
Yup, hideous AND dumb!
Someone with this much money didn’t think about the air bags? Good grief!
That is as dumb as people putting plastic on there leather suit at home.
The worse accessory fuzzy dice, Dance Elvis and Bobbing head things.
What about a Mercedes S Class with skull door locks ?

haha GO the AMR seat covers, it will be a nice meal for the promotion of this company… Worthy to put on an R8!
I had black ones on my old Skyline just to keep the aging fabric from getting worse from wear. But on this car its not understandable, if they are so concerned about the wear, at least get something more up to the level and doesnt block the side airbags from deployment…
What’s next?
Frangipani Stickers on M3’s……….
dumber
I’m not sure if this is entirely news worthy
i hate those ricer style seat covers
they are probably just using it to avoid the seats getting covered in sand while on the gold coast.
Well at lest he didn’t take the seats out and put in cheap autobarn seats. The face rock hard race seats that are $200 for two. I saw a old Ferrari the other week with them in there. YUCK!!!!! it was bad enough a mate of mine put the same seats in his Lancer.
Haha, love it.
Best accessories ever:
5″ monster tach
Fluffy dice
Throw those in the R8 and it would be P-plate central.
perhaps those covers are for the sand from the beach? and will be taken off after the shower?
Amazing bad taste.
Tend to agree with you Tom. Sorry CA
I personally dont put ANY after market accesories in my cars. I dont get seat covers, floor mats, alloys and especially not audio systems. I think it all just cheapens cars and makes them look tackier. I think one should be smart enough to spec the car how you want before you pay for it. This is horrible because the Audi R8’s seats are a work of art. Well sort of. Also, I dont mean a sterotype here but whats the betting its lottery winners?
haha.. those are 50 bucks at autobarn
Seat covers are attrocious in just about any car. Alex not sure what wrong with an upgraded Ausio system. More often than not the standard spec is not great.
don’t joke about the frangipani stickers on m3’s
mother has those plus stupid diamante things on her 335i convertible
Oh come on how bout a photo from the rear?
Im sure it wouldve revealve a 5″ Fart Cannon and probably a ralliart sticker lol.
No seriously one time i saw a barina with a ralliart sticker. I just look at the dude and laughed and laughed and laughed.
For me favourite aftermarket mod would have to be the coloured mesh lol. or maybe the gauges runnin up the piller. or perhaps the bonnet scoop thats still black and doesnt have a hole under it… oh i could go on forever…
Truly frightening.
I once owned an elderly BMW 5-Series that had hideous synthenic leopard-skin seat covers. I soon realised when I tried to remove them that they were actually holding the threadbare seats together.
I decided to tell people that I liked them because of their comedy value but they generated so much static electricity even on short journeys that the dash-mounted bubble compass thought I was Magnetic North.
I never really warmed to that car…
