2012 BMW 1 Series M Performance accessories unveiled

By Brett Davis |

BMW has announced a new BMW 1 Series M Perfomance accessories pack which will make its official debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show next week. The Performance accessories include various interior and exterior revisions, including lightweight carbon fibre highlights and some engine performance tweaks.

As previously reported, BMW is looking to offer a more dramatic series of accessories for its upcoming models. This 2012 BMW 1 Series M Performance edition, for instance, comes with a full bodykit, black racing stripes over the length of the car and various black highlights.

The chunky bodykit consists of a carbon fibre rear diffuser, side skirts with darkened highlights and an aggressive front chin spoiler with a huge gaping air intake. The BMW 1 Series M Performance also comes with new 19-inch alloy wheels, BMW M sports suspension and a high-performance brake package.

This version will be on display at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show as a concept, and as a preview to the future of BMW M Performance accessories.

BMW has said that engine tuning kits will also be on offer in the future, making mention of the ’35i’ models receiving engine tunes adding 15kW and 30Nm (225kW to 240kW, 400Nm to 430Nm). Other tuning packages are expected to be unveiled at the Frankfurt show.

What do you think? Does this kit improve the look of a new 2012 BMW 1 Series? Feel free to give us your thoughts below.

The current 1 is much better looking! Esp. in Coupe guise.
That hatch looks horrid! Fingers crossed when this new look moved onto the coupe in a few years time, they will have refined it somewhat.

Buy on line overseas if you must – the Australian prices will be criminal.

      Oh yeah, great for resale….

The biggest problem with the look are those dowdy headlights, totally upsets an otherwise decent looking car.

I hate it less every time I look at it. 15kw an “upgrade” pffft, I have driven one with 100 extra KW, that engine can handle it, but dont tell big brother M3 that, no one would buy an m3 then, although the M3 and probably the M1 is better in all other areas.

A brake upgrade? Ever driven a current model BMW? The standard brakes are phenomenal / no need to upgrade

The rims are nice and thats about it…

Is that the new 1 series? Holy jeebus, I threw up in my mouth
I would think prices would be absurd

From video reviews I’ve read, this car has a crazy load of torque. I’d liken this car to a male hairdresser of small stature who spends a crazy amount of time at the gym.

I wouldn’t like to be him, but I wouldn’t want to mess with him either.
