Audi adds to its A5 Coupe line up
June 13, 2008 by George Skentzos
Audi has added a second variant to its A5 Coupe range this month with the arrival of the A5 3.2 FSI quattro tiptronic to join its current multitronic stablemate.
This latest A5 variant is powered by the same 3.2-litre V6 engine offering maximum power of 195kW at 6,500rpm and 330Nm of torque from 3,000 – 5,000rpm.
Combined with the new 6-speed tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, 0 to 100 km/h takes just 6.4 seconds with fuel consumption an impressive 9.3 litres per 100 kilometres on the combined cycle.
“Audi continues to be a brand on the move in Australia and this new quattro model will help propel us towards yet another period of record sales growth.”
The A5 quattro model is the second to arrive in Australia, with additional engine variants, the 3.0 TDI and 1.8T FSI, to follow over the next twelve months.
Also on its way this month is the potent Audi S5 4.2 FSI quattro tiptronic variant – completing the S5 range.
The new S5 4.2 FSI quattro tiptronic variant is priced at $131,900 and matches the S5 4.2 6-speed manual variant on both price and standard specification.

Audi A5! has great head lights.
Beautiful looking coupe.
Loving the looks!
Any ideas whether there is going to be an RS5 variant on the way?
Shares same head lights as new A4 doesn’t it?
Love the car it looks STUNNING! Does the rear remind you of BMW though?
Does look quite like the BMW 3 series, but then there’s only so many iterations and designs of taillights before everything looks the same.
Looks like a 3 series…? Are you kidding? Where? How?
I know this will most likely upset a few Euros however When I first saw the A5 I compared it to a picture of the Holden Monaro [out of the brochure] and there were more similarities between it and the Monaro than there are between it and an M3 or 3 series coupe
Wheelnut’s having a go as well! I’m looking for a Monaro in there, Wheelnut. I’m battling!
Sorry Wheelnut but I agree with Golfschwein. The only similarity is that (I can see) they are both coupe’s.
It will be greeted by the increase in luxury car tax. At RRP of $131,900; a buyer will need around $150,000 to get this car on the road, depending on the level of options chosen. How many people will pay that? Might not even sell 20 a year in Oz, given the economic slowdown that has started, stockmarket crash, interest rates, etc.
^The same with The Cadillac’s coming to Australia too!
