Goes to show what value is the XF Jaguar, not saying the Audi is not nice but the diesel almost the same spec as the XF diesel and the price difference could get your misses a nice second car

    • Alborz Fallah

Laurie, that’s not correct. You’re comparing the 2.2 diesel XF to the 3.0L A6. Audi will release the 2.0 TDI later in the year which will go head to head with the 2.2 XF and be priced around the 80k mark.

The 3.0L Jag XF diesel that compares to this is priced at $116,250.

        oops thanks Alborz

  • john

    Insomniacs your chariot awaits!

  • MrMotors

Great looking car, so very understated. Just the way I like it. I’d probably go for the 2 liter diesel.

  • FrugalOne

Good review and photos, NZ looks great in winter!

The ONLY problem with Audi [aka AutoUnion] is that they are priced around the same coin as a Benz.

They are 4th in the *status* list, Benz, Lexus, BMW and THEN Audi, the main advantage [if it is?] is being AWD v’s superior RWD.

    A Benz is a Benz is a Benz…

    • Monster

@FrugalOne, from which planet do you have this ‘status’ conclusion? Do your research and see if you can find any proof that Lexus is more prestigious than BMW or Audi.

    • bangel

A BENZ is an A class , a B class ,is a C class nothing special about benz, just another german luxury maker , average interiors , RWD good FWD lousy .

      • Sam

A ‘benz’ (along with volvo) is basically responsible for every single safety feature seen in a modern car to date….

  • jordan

    More interior pics please!

        Thank you :)

  • ingolstadt

Very comprehensive review CA,the new A6 is an excellent all-rounder!

  • David

Are there no plans to release this with a V8 of some description?

    • http://www.caradvice.com.au/ Alborz Fallah

Very likely to happen with an S6 and RS variants in the coming years.

  • Able

So the local NZ Government let you guys drive A6s with NSW plates on them? Would’ve been nice I admit, kinda feeling like home a tad.

I didn’t like the new A6 when the first pictures were released but I have to say, I really like it now especially the Avant. It’s a fantastic looking thing!

  • Aleks

Why would anyone buy this, If you want an Audi buy the A4, I’m having real trouble telling them apart.

  • A

    Umm…introduced in 1968? I think you meant 1994 haha

Nice car, I would only ever buy a quattro Audi though. And I’d probably go for an A5 Sportback over this as A6′s are notoriously bad at holding their value.

  • o

The amount of money wasted in having the halogen (US and EU), xenon and LED lights meant that they could have saved money and put the stunning LED lights on all models

  • YOUR MAJESTY

THE A6 LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE RUBBISH 5 SERIES.

    • Freddie

Best sedan in the world you call rubbish?

      • FrostNixon

        YOUR MAJESTY is rubbish.

  • Igor

…thought I was sick of seeing Audi’s but this one looks quite nice somehow..The 4wd is a sweetener.

  • Catter29

Very Nice car! Rate 5 star!

    • FrostNixon

As always, nice to look at, not so to drive.

  • Andrew Juma

Those lights are just amazing. Big Audi’s do not sell, but this A6 and A8 deserve to.

  • David

    Nice car.

The problem is this:- go to the UK Google page and search “new car deals”. Compare the A6 or even the S4 with its equally priced peers and you will see they are almost line ball with the Volvo S60 T6 AWD.

For some reason once they hit our shores the Audi is 10′s of thousands of $$ more. Unless you are a badge snob, the S60 would do nicely thank you.

Why is it that Volvo, Peugeot, Citroen, VW etc can utilise the low Euro rate to provide value cars here whilst Audi, BMW and Mercedes don’t? Do they use a different Euro in Germany or something?

  • aaaron

I’d rather get the Holden Calais V and have change in my pocket. You cant match the V8 perfourmance with a diesel four or the entertanement of the RWD drive train when this only has FWD. Plus the Holden will be much cheaper to run than an Audi when it comes to maintainance and servicing. I have a friend with an Audi A4 and its small and slow and he spends four figures every time he has to take it to the dealer. My Holden Calais has gret quality but it also has lots of features such as the touch screen with the sat-nav and traffic updates but best of all is that the Holden looks TOUGH but the Audi looks like a German Camry.

    • Al Juraj

Your precious Calais placed DEAD LAST in a six-car comparison, and that wasn’t even against the Germans.

    • F1MotoGP

You can not compare Calais with A4!! You must compare with A6 which is same category. The A6 is longer by 24 mm and 4 kg lighter. New A6 got a 3 liter V6 diesel city fuel economy is 6 liter Calais 17.4. Yes when you talk price is different story but if you put all extras what is in Audi price difference will be much smaller.

  • germanic

    Yep!!

  • tom jinks

very disappointed that the wheel hub in my a6 has rust after 3 months is this usual?

  • Steve Angilinwago

this car starts at about $55000 in china, a country known for its high imported luxury car tariff, come on Australia, you can do better than $90000
