Jeep Wrangler JK8 Independence package – video

By Brett Davis |

Mopar in the US has just announced a new Jeep Wrangler JK8 Independence pack which transforms the Wrangler into a pick-up. The special conversion pack was recently revealed at the 45th Annual Moab Jeep Safari.

A team of Mopar representatives at the event demonstrated the conversion by taking one normal Jeep Wrangler and transforming it into a ute in around one hour. Here we see a video of the demonstration in fast forward.

Anyone can now buy the conversion kit for their respective Wrangler and apply it in one weekend. Apparently it does require some welding so non technical-minded enthusiasts are encouraged to get a professional hand.

The conversion uses new panels and side trimmings which completely conceal the ute tray and the cabin. A new roof and panel behind the seats is also put it. The tray is 1.27 metres in length and 1.1 metres in width.

Mopar now sells the kit for $US5499 (around $5137).

Never in my time as a photographer have I seen such a poorly exposed photo as that of the yellow jeep!!!! I wouldn’t post such an abomination on a website!!!
And why do we have to put up with American wording — pick-up (sic) — seeing as we have always had and worship “utes” in this country.

Sorry, no interest in jeep stuff, just like the rest of the US car market, short lived crap!!

The original Willys MB Jeep began production in 1941… That’s 70 years ago by my count. Not so short lived.

    • YOOOO

Geez, wat a whinger! and btw – if a dog cant jump in the back, its not a ute!!

if you have no interest in jeep stuff, why did u bother to open the article AND comment on it???!!!!

      Loser

Andre, your time a a photographer is….what? 3 minutes!! Now your an expert hey.
BTW, its a car site, not a photo techniques and tips site. Hence the name Car Advice not Photo Advice you knob. Maybe you would prefer the National Geographic site better.

Hey Wilson, I guess the last twenty years full time photographing doesn’t count for much, same as the 20 years before that as a mechanic don’t make me know much either.
Strangely as well Wilson with your self indulgent fan boy attitude to the dealership that your name links to you may like to know that I did a brief stint as a service manager in a jeep dealership. I suppose knobs come in all shapes and sizes don’t they mate.

nude photos of your mum don’t count andre.

        • SteveP

Sorry mate your times don’t really match up there, you claim you have been a full time photographer for the last 20 years? but the jeep brand has only had an official prescence in australaia for 15 years (since 1994)
so you are either full of sh1t or a terrible photographer who needs to suppliment your income with other work……

Andre – you’ve clearly never owned a Wrangler, they are awesome fun, especially with the roof off. Not to mention pretty much unstoppable off road.

    • Andre

You are dead right GG, I have never owned one and I never will after the only Wrangler I drove stopped on me before it even got “off road”, being in a nearly new ( less than 10,000 klm ) vehicle that had suddenly turned the insides of the transmission into soup on the highway left no doubt in my mind that they weren’t a viable proposition to own.

  • Henry

It should be optional in australia!!!! i would like to buy a 2 door ute, 3door and 5 door 4×4!!!

20 years as a mechanic and 20 as a photographer?

What you got your camera fitted to your Zimmer frame?

Give up photography and stop ripping off newly weds with your cheapo shots.
