And there a heap who have tunnel vision and cant see outside on car maker bubble! Iam passionate about cars! Not one car maker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is “cant see outside one car maker bubble they were weaned up on as a kid”
yes i know what you mean NM it like senator telling me I’m one eyed but the troth it i just don’t like the ve cars are meant to improve over the last and the ve would have if not for thoughts ugly flares but i love the look for the wagon and the Statesmen i mean the first cart i owned was an LC coupe but i sold it because i couldn’t afford to fix it to put it on the road so i got a VB commodore( witch are my second favorite commys next the the VS.)
Andrew M, I’m not bias but I just wondered if your mate agreed and told the truth if he thought the same as you, thats all.
Andrew M, every time I pass a VY Commdore parked to a BA Falcon (just using parked to for noticing difference), i feel the BA was ahead on the design department (exterior)(my opinion interior was/is very close between the two) it just looked evolutionary compared to the VY but the VY still looked good but not as good if you know what I mean? I also think sometimes the VZ would have been/looked and compared to the BA equally (because newer not like VY). Though it’s the opposite if you compare an AU Falcon to a VT/VX Commodore though.
Duck,
did you know that the BA and VY came out in the same month of 2002?
how can they not be a perfect comparo.
interior stakes?
sorry, feel ford has had it pretty much forever.
the VE great improvement though, only to be let down by its always complained about cheap plastics, and the fact that the FG interior now leaves no doubt for supremacy
Look Andrew M you know ford falcon interior isn’t perfect either?
I know the BA and VY was released at the same time but here im saying this………..
Exterior looks between:
VY/BA = BA
VZ/BA = Both
I’m saying if the VZ was introduced at the time of VY released the BA and VZ would look equal in exterior design, but VY and BA doesn’t. Ford did a good job with the BA. It was a big turning point for them, from the hideuos AU.
as far a VY VZ a felt the VX was a nicer car because the VY VZ looked similar to the Magna at the rear there interior was a huge step up with the VY from the VX but the ba had it better and the VZ wasn’t much of a change then they went to VE wich was a bigger step up but then came FG shame about the styling of the VE (my opinion only end of story.)
but as far as a car as a hole goes the BA destroyed the Vy’s and Vz’s then the VE closed the gap and the FG made it bigger again.
“but as far as a car as a hole goes the BA destroyed the Vy’s and Vz’s then the VE closed the gap and the FG made it bigger again.”
EscortGhia, please dont say “the FG made the gap bigger again”. You dont know yet it might it may not! It hasnt yet so don’t say it, before the fact!
And are you talking about the car (car test) or car sale?
everyone who has driven the car has said its a much better car than the VE Fact its Australia’s most refined car in everyday duck that dose not mean the ve is a bad car all together the only engine the ve has going for it is the v8 the Toyota v6 is a better engine than the holden v6 but fords I6 trumps them all.
i was talking about the car test not the car sale’s
Escort, how does the I6 trumps the Aurion’s V6? From statistics the 2G-FE off the Aurion with 500cc less has more power (though less 40nm torque), more efficient, more smooth (test driven a BF before I bought the Aurion).
But I do agree with the VE’s 6er its below either car and not to mention the interior…
And I agree with Duck, the FG is not out yet so you cant make the comparo yet.
Although Ive been in one at the Motorshow, i was mildly impressed (carries over from BF), the only thing that caught my eye (and my butt lol) was the leather seats.
I had a look at a G6E this morning, and bloody hell it was nice. Well built, comfortable, better than a VE and Aurion. I think my money is going to Ford. So much better than a VE, and cheaper than the Calais V for the same equipment. Holden, wake up, and build something that is good. The FG left it for dead. I then had a look straight after the FG at a Calais V, and it didn’t seem anywhere near as good. I have always been a Holden man, but I have changed my mind.
every one knows that the ford I6is the best 6 you can get in an Australian made car joober so what it has less power what 5KW but it’s the way it deliver the power that makes it the best, you take it out to hilly arias and the falcon will be more fuel efficient because it don’t have to rev hard to get its power.
and why is everyone so upset with carry over BMW has done it for like 20 years and people think there e revolutionary design aether way it is a much better car looking car that the Aurion, (witch is a Camery with a nicer front.) and is a perfect contender to the VE alto i like the FG better but that personal preference.
With the new F6’s performance similar to an M3 and being almost 3 times cheaper, I reckon this is definitely gonna be a classic car. i quite like the whole new graphite-like “eye pieces” around the lights. Looks mean and musclely.
I have always been a ford man so are my brothers are my Sister and nieces are Ford Girls, i ran a XB UTE with a 460 BB for 10 years, then got a XR8 Au UTE then the BA XR8 UTE, i’d pretty much get into a punch up to back up my love for the Ford,
Until i hoped into my mates 6LTR GTO manaro 2 years newer than my BA but Twice the grunt, so i went to redcliff auto tune and performance and spent 8 grand on headers new computer a shift kit and a 4 grand job on the HEADS, the gto still hosed me, anyway i now live in Dubai and they dont make The Aussie ford range here, so i went out and spanked a wad of cash on a 2008 SS they call them a lumina over here, and ok this is the problem, the only thing i can say i hate about the SS 6ltr, it’s the rev limiter!! if your in your Ford and driving it through the gears as you do, if you hit the limiter it bounces ofF it but you dont lose power, this stupid chev when you hit the limiter the motor dies you lose power and in the auto you can’t slap second gear and keep the wheel spin,i was dead set off the BA because of the sluggish take off up to 3000 rpm and if they have fixed that up i will erase the fact i brought a chevy out of my memory and and buy a new GT when i return to OZ, but come on lets get our Street fords up to the specs of the HSV. CHEERS
Autocar NZ has just recorded a Blistering 0-100 time of 4.86 sec for the F6 ! holy crap that is fast.
Yes, 4.86 seconds on the dragstrip. The same magazine also recorded a 80 – 120km/h time of 2.65 seconds for the F6.
WOW,
then that makes it the first indepedantly tested sub 5 second aussie car!!!!!!
I’m not surprised about the 4.86 time. I guessed the new F6 would get it long before it was first tested and I knew there was something wrong with the times Wheels and Motor got. In this test with Autocar NZ, they must of controlled its launch a lot better and that’s the time they got.
Just read the full review from Autocar NZ. It was a all-rounder performance comparo between EvoIX, Audi S3 and F6. The got 4.99s on a normal road for the F6.
Then they visited the Fram Autolite Dragway. They got 6.66secs (spent most of its time sideways but S3 and Evo suffered too despite AWD) then decided to use the other end of the strip to start from where there was some grip. *BOOM* 4.82s (not 4.86)
oops EvoX not EvoIX
The mag also said the FG F6 is the first Aussie production car it has tested that has achieved a sub 5 second time, which is saying something because NZ Autocar has raved about the VE since it was released in NZ last year. To the point where I was beginning to think that the publication should be called Holdenz monthly.
In october NZ Autocar they test the F6 and it does 0-100 k.p.h. in 4.82 seconds and 80-120 in a remarkable 2.64 seconds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A few issues back in a comparo between GTP and R8 (the GTP is $1k cheaper in NZ)they also got 80-120 in 2.95s for the GTP. Heres what they had to say:
“It scored a G6ET equalling 5.28 (0-100)…the best figure we’ve achieved from a production Aussie V8 to date…..80-120 in 2.95s…anything that gets into the 2s is wickedly quick” .”Get it to 3500rpm and it explodes into action”
“[The R8 doesn't have] the emphatic boost of bravado the Boss displays when its on cam” R8 0-100 in 5.30 & 80-120 in 3.17. …R8 felt slower”
“GTP 15.1L/100k v R8 18plusL/100k”
“LS3 is starting to show its age”
“THE VERDICT…If forced to choose, it would be the FPV for its superior powertrain, but you’d be mad not to drive the F6 before deciding”
NZ Autocar do the performance testing properly, by using a Vbox and 98RON fuel.
The article that compares the FPV GTP with the HSV R8 also said that only 25 cars have been able to accelerate from 80 – 120 km/h in under 3 seconds and they’re not all production cars. Extremely impressive figures for a humble family saloon!!!
Yeah FPV definately has a winning range with serious bang for your buck. The F6 is about level 0-100 with the HSV W427, and according to wheels w427 does 80-120 in 3.1s, shows it lacks the mid range punch of the FPVs.
Like many other Falconites, I wonder what the F6 might do if it had bigger and better rubber. Consistent 4.8 – 4-9 0-100 times? The F6 must be close to achieving a 12 secondish quarter mile
Big Jim, I find it hard to believe that the W427 with that gargantuan 7L engine can’t break into the 2s in the 80 -120 km/h range.
