Volkswagen will be running three of these specially prepared Scirocco race cars with two-time Le Mans winner Hans-Joachim Stuck and two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz among the list of drivers.

The cars are currently undergoing testing on the Nordschleife circuit in preparation for the official race on 24/25 May.

Bring out a production version!!! (without the ridiculous rear wing of course)

  2. No Name says:

observations about the car generally IMO – front looks good but side view is somewhat unimaginative and all to similar to other cars (Fiat Ritmo and Civic of old).
Don’t the Germans love to tune up cars and do it really well.

  3. Andrew M says:

    i agree Jbot,
but i say even a version with the stupid wing will sell.

there are plenty of “autobarn bolt on home jobbers” that would kill for that wing

  4. I agree with Bot……….crasse and weird rear wing!

  5. Neo Utopia says:

Maybe have a detachable wing, on for racing and off for dinner dates, makes sense doesn’t it? I think this formidable hot hatch though should have a more dynamic colour scheme.

  6. jamison says:

    beautiful car overall I think.

But it WILL dent sales on the GTi and R32…
It doesnt make sense to make a mid-market hatch for VW again. They already have 2 really really good models in that segment.

Unless this is priced closed to six figures…. But I doubt that. That’ll be crazy….

  7. Chaser says:

why isnt this being subjected to all the ridicule the Lexus Lf-A (race versio for the same purpose) recieved?

oh wait I think you fellas actually read its a ‘race version’

  8. Golfschwein says:

    Street cred’s your answer, Chaser.

  9. Where will this car fit in the market place. Above or below the Golf?

  10. Golfschwein says:

    Just above, Harry.

  11. jbot says:

Chaser, this thing actually looks good! The LF-A race version was hideous!

  12. ベリー says:

This will sell. In comparison to the box GTI, which I reckon is shyte, this will attract me to the VW delaership. I hope VW Oz bring it into the country.
