2012 Audi S7 spied on the Nurburgring

By Brett Davis |

Audi has been spotted again testing the upcoming all-new Audi S7 sports sedan, but this time, the company has turned it up a notch and is honing the car’s performance on Germany’s notorious Nurburgring north circuit.

The car appears to be wearing no camouflaging once again and could be in its production guise, although details such as the alloy wheels might be different on the eventual model to hit the showrooms.

There’s been no word on the S7′s definite engine specifications yet, reports say it will feature a new 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 unit producing upwards of 330kW. This will be the same unit that will be used on upcoming Bentley models.

Another possible engine set for the S7 is the Audi R8 naturally-aspirated 4.2-litre V8, producing around the same power. Either way, acceleration from 0-100km/h is likely to be around the five-second range.

Distinct exterior highlights over the normal Audi A7 include a sporty bodykit including front and rear bumper bar extensions, a more aggressive front apron, grille and venting layout, as well as a quad-tailpipe rear-diffuser setup.

The 2012 Audi S7 is set to be publically unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September. We’ll keep you up-to-date.

In the meantime, what four-door grand tourer would you chose if money were no object? The Porsche Panamera S? An Aston Martin Rapide perhaps? Or something a little more subtle like this Audi S7?

the rear lights remind me of the honda civic update

  • Martin

Not a fan of the rear end.

  • Hendo

Its not entirely attractive in any way, shape or form..

  • Jason

The front looks great, but from there backwards it gets bad.

  • brent

Seems to have quite a bit of Merc CLS in it (polarising looks).

Money no object? Jag XFR or Aston Rapide depending on the practicalities.

Money no object and time to wait? Lambo Estoque – the only Lambo design that has ever done much for me , but looks like an ideal mix of practicality, class and aggression.

It looks like it’s been left out in the sun too long.

Trying to find something positive about its styling….I guess it has nice wheels and a decent paintjob

shame this car doesn’t always photograph anywhere near as well as it looks in the flesh.

    • Vins

True. I saw the real A7, much more prettier than the picture. The rear doesn’t look too bad in flesh metal.

  • bretti

for me the aston is more beautiful, the porsche is more practical, audi’s styling team should have done a better job here, the S5 sportback looks fabulous

  • Tommy

the rear end looks like a droopy old face
