Our spy photographers recently caught this Audi Q5 S test mule out and about during street testing. The car doesn’t appear to be a conventional S-Line model, but rather a full-blown S like the Audi S4, sporting larger brakes, sports suspension and a high-performance engine.

Although details are kind of sketchy at this stage, going from these images, the Q5 S wears a number of clues that indicate this will be a serious model.

It has quad-outlet exhausts for starters, these are normally only fitted to the hottest of sports models. Large discs brakes with multi-piston calipers for wiping off high speeds, and revised, lowered suspension for improved handling.

Some have suggested this Q5 S is fitted with the same 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine as the Audi S4, producing 245kW of power and 440Nm of torque. Acceleration times are expected to crack the six-second barrier.

Apart from the mechanical revisions, the Q5 S is also expected to receive a number of cosmetic enhancements including new front and rear bumper bars with subtle sports accents and a more aggressive tyre and wheel package.

Our spy photographers say it will go on sale sometime in 2012. Of course, we could be wrong. Maybe this is just an S-Line version of the compact luxury SUV. Feel free to let us know what you think below.

We’ll be sure to update you on any definite details as soon as possible.

Some other sites are also saying this could be a test bed for an potential Q5 RS model, although i dont think Audi is just ready to go that far yet.

Audi Q5 S looks nice. I think the outer look of Q7 is very similar. Thanks for sharing.

I really really hope to see the 2.5, 5 cylinder turbo in this thing!!! That would seal the deal for me!

AUDI should first fix the 2.0 TFSI oil consumption issue. Cannot beleive the inconvienance of this issue on a premium priced car!
