Aptera Typ 1 video

By Alborz Fallah |

An interesting video as to why the oddly shaped Aptera Typ-1, which is registered as a motorcycle, looks the way it does.

After concluding its crash testing, Aptera will be ready to move the Typ-1 into production. The ‘car’ is essentially a plug-in hybrid designed by Jason Hill, whose previously been involved with the Porsche Carrera GT and Smart. It has only taken nine months for the Typ-1 to go from concept to reality.

If it does get approved for production, it’s currently estimated to cost around U.S. $30,000 and have a fuel economy of an amazing 0.8L/100km!

It can also travel without any fuel for about 200km. For more info, check out http://www.aptera.com/

I love it when the book is thrown out the window and you’re allowed to make a car that looks pretty decent, fuel economy? try fuel resistant! and is smart enough to keep the car cool while you’re away having fun at the beach.

There are ideas in that car that make you say to yourself, Why the freakin hell have they not done that on all other cars?

    Cheers

Pretty cool. As much as I love my muscle, you have to give this car a lot of credit. A great deal of ingenuity there. Perhaps the majority of motorists will end up in something like this in the not to distant future.

Looks pretty slick, but where do I put my golf clubs?

Solar panels on the turret!!!! Toyota and all the other mainstream manufacturers should take note, if the prius just had those solar panels it would be alot more credible.

How bloody wide is it? Will it be able to fit on our oh so tight parking spots?
