Melbourne Motor Show: HSV W427
February 29, 2008 by George Skentzos
The GM LS7 engine has made its official debut in the HSV range, with the impressive W427 – boasted as Australia’s first true supercar.
Its 7.0-litre V8 engine develops an incredible 370kW and a stump-pulling 640Nm.
Topped off with 20-inch alloy wheels and a carbon-fiber lip spoiler, the W427 will be hand built at a rate of 4 per week.
No word yet on final pricing, however expect north of $125,000.

Moe.. whats with the insult..
the car looks boring.. and if you read the articles written about this car they are talking price in excess of 125k..
The coupe is a more exciting concept..
Plus its not about 500hp.. i think most engines with 7 litre capicity can do that.. you can good power with smaller euro engines… this car has too much american rubbish in it..
The F6 will be as quick as this. The XR6T nearly runs 5 seconds flat so the F6 should be running a decent sub 5 second time.
PS: HSV will never use the LS9.
i personally think its beautiful
nothing like a 427ci engine being produced in australia
and to think its almost in the classes of the BMW M5..
but i agree with most people, abit over priced for what it is.. anyone can grab that bodykit, paint, engine, drive train… make more hp for about 50 big ones, but, its still an amazing car
my score
10/10
love it
This car is awesome . it has great power and looks great to, it could kill any FPV v8 in any type of race. FPVs cars a great to but they arnt producing enough power to shift all that weight . It shows how sad ford is their 6 cylinders are faster than their 8s. Who cares if hsv is using old technology its still better and faster than any new ford v8 engines.
168K HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
who is dumb enough to buy that,
Go to a ford dealer by 2 FG F6s, and send them to herrod and for a TOTAL $85K each on road,
you will have W427 Eater.
GO FORD,
Go off a bridge for a long walk twat!.
I’d buy one and i might just, 2 Reason,
1 don’t give a toss what people think it’s my money.
2 don’t give a toss what people think period.
You know you could buy a Nissan GTR for that much and it eats everything.
At around 100K it would have made sense, but at M3 or Godzilla pricing, it’s absolute cr@p yet again, as in any VE. The HSV versions aren’t particularly handsome either, with just-so-it-looks-different front and rear ends. Making only 427 of them is simply pretentious exclusivity. At the end of the day it’s just your usual Commodore, only with a Corvette engine and what-have-you.
