  • smokin’R32

Nice, not a whole lot different but overall quite classy

  • gtcortina

won der how happy ford will be with the leak. impressive they lasted this long. Design will look too similar to the average Joe walking down the street. I hope differences will be more obvious in the metal.

  • Boring Falcon

    Boring………

  • azza85

Love the G Series! What’s that big bulge on the bonnet?

  • PreetR34

    WOOOOOOOOAHHHHHH NYCE

  • BOB

looks much better than the VE, the exterior and interior look real good, can’t wait to test drive… :-)

  • Mr ford

awsom it looks really good and the ute is the best ute ive ever seen it looks mean.

  • http://www.hsv.com.au HSV E

    Looks hot, watch out HSV!!!

  • o

looks so much better than ve

  • http://www.hsv.com.au gtsr

SO much for Holdens Billion dollar baby! Billion dollar dissappointment!! This looks the goods! Not some big cheap ass BMW rip off like the VE

  • BK

Allready looks better than a VE. Another winner by Ford.

  • Boring Falcon

The front of the car is all out proportion. Big long front over hang with that bonnet bulge leaning forward. Poor thing looks like it was stung on the nose by a bee.

  • BK

the XR8 looks so good. Cant wait to see the GT and Typhoon. Already its humiliating Holden.

  • Lee

Front end of the one tonner is cool, and i love the rear end of the sedan, other wise it is somewhat underwhelming..

  • BMWsauberF1

The ute looks good but i dunno if i can say the same about the other models.. i get the impression that ford have tried abit too hard with this one and come up with a big mixture of designs that dont quite work well in one package. The car looks particularly awkward side on… although the front and back end get my thumbs up. If the VE was’nt such a boat then i’d rate it higher.

  • Lee

very nice looking car. exeactly what ford needed. cant wait to see it in the flesh. the ute looks amazing!

  • azza85

The base model looks pretty much identical to the current lot. And PLEASE PLEASE get rid of those stupid hub caps, they’ve been around since the BA was brought it!

  • http://the-patient-man.blogspot.com Christiaan

I grew up a Ford man… so it is sad to say, but overall, I’m very disappointed. I was hoping to see a sign of a pulse for manufacturing in this country and a car that looked like it had a future in a global market. It’s just same same, all over again.

They will make lovely taxi’s though.

  • ADAM

The front end doesn’t look that much different from the old model. I wouldn’t notice that its the new falcon if i saw it parked by it’s self on a street, it looks good from the rear thou. Shame that the XR8 doesn’t get quad exhusts like the ess ess does. Not impressed by the exterior at all :( the interior looks gr8, i like the silver on the dash it really brightens up the interior unlike the holden SS and SV6 which is rather dark. Holden needs to brighten up the interior to make it more appeling i think because next to the falcons it looks too dark and cheep. Holden wins the exterior battel, but could improve on the interior by brightening it up by adding splashes of alloy here and there. Now, who will win on the drag strip i wonder……….

  • Mitchell

While Holden actually gave the car a new style and direction, Ford has just revamped the 6 year old BA style. The 16 month old VE still looks far more modern.

This is nothing ground braking, but thats not surprising considering the budget.

How is this possibly “humiliating” Holden?

  • Hmm…

A bit dissapointed that it looks too similar to the BF which shape dates back to BA..and this is coming from a current ford lover

  • Mitchell

But overall i like it, it shows heritage and is still far more modern. The Americans are going to be very jealous of this car, now lets see if it can give Holden something to worry about in the horsepower wars.

  • Makes the VE Outdated and Boring

if you mess with the past image too much the less it becomes iconic, Ford have done the right thing here still better than the VE makes the Holden look outdated and very boring indeed…..

  • BK

Brand new car is always gonna be better than something old like a VE. So far it humilates holden wait till it is put on the drag strip and its gonna be woopin all the others away.

  • Bavarian Missile

    WOO-HOO……..finaly.

Love the look of it,much smoother lines.Ute looks heaps better than the VE one from the rear…….fantastic.

    FPV range please???????

Im not disappointed……yet? We want some performance figures next .

  • BK

Settle down bavarian Ford allready have won in the horsepower. Been like that for decades

  • Chopstar87

I love that interior…. so stylish and sporty… me want one….

  • BLAH

I dont think that Holden have anything to worry about here, except for being shunted out of the taxi business and being replaced by the new falcon (christiaan’s idear not mine). Here in New Zuland we get the Omega with Alloys, not the plastic jobbies you fallas get (HA SHAME!) hope we get the base falcon with alloys as the plastic jobbies don’t really cut it anymore. Looks no where near as good as VE. There XR6 interior is good thou, compared to the SV6 it looks much brighter something Holden needs to take note of, as the SV6 is quite dark inside.

  • Luke

Yeah, just as i feared… another iteration of the original BA model. They got it so right with the BA and then as each series went on they gradually changed the front headlights to look a little different each time. Comparing this “all new” model to the BF Series 2 there is little difference.

Dissapointing when compared with the VE which is a totally new direction for Holden. I fear the worst for the Aussie Falcon in the coming years… :-(

  • Nikk

VE around for 16 months? the front of a VE as been around sence 2002! on a BA! Silly one-eye blind holden fans! The VE looks like a Cheap chinse matchbox car next to the falcon!

    New falcon FTW

  • QIK-VLT

Cant believe how similar they are to the BF, and that they have the same format as the VE SS, aswell as details from the Aurion V6…Lets all just say ford is comepletely F**ked if holden and toyota ever stop building cars

  • Nikk

Continuation of a BA? the door apatures are changed, roofline different, beltline…etc

the only reason it looks like a BFII is some cleaver thinking from ford, the 2008 falcons front was designed before the BFII came out, ford desided to ‘preview’ the new design on the BF. Much like the VZ had traces of VE DNA…

  • BK

This falcon design is way ahead to the VE. Front and rear of VE is square shape so it must have been a 5 minute decision to do square lights for holden. Ford still all aussie made and designed and much nicer lookin to.

  • VE SUX – NEW FALCON ROCKS

The Falcon looks so much better it must be hurting Holdenwoo fans, I’m so sick of VE, just boring and tired the front and rear of the VE is so plain jane compared to the new Falcon…GO FORD we win again……….

  • Oz.

    OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • acfsambo

Anti-spam word is 300kw (hopefully the power of the F6)

Persoally i like it. Sure it resembles the BA-BF falcons but you can tell they are different. I love the wheel aches, and the pic that shows the side and back (last pic)

  • Johnson

Looks like they may be on an evolutionary winner….
Didnt make as big a step as it was from EL to AU, and have just about got everything that WASNT right about the BA Interior & rear doors fixed. Now you have a somewhat sweeet looking, probably great handling, functional car… As for the twin exhausts on the XR8… Im sure there is scope there, maybe they are going to give the option of twin exhausts from factory… but standard is a single………………..

  • XL_Falcon: Trim, Taught, Terrific

Falcon to be specific, It’s Trim, Taught, Terrific!

  • Oz.

hey, but what the hell is Ford thinking? Look at those stupid curves, LOOKS LIKE A FUK’N GIRLS CAR! :x

Ford, did you forget what the XR range is?

  • BOB

The new falcon looks sick I think it looks like its moving standing still, NOW THAT IS A GOOD SIGN FORD, the more I look at it the more and better it grows on me, just like listening to a classic music CD never get bored… Go Ford yipeeeee……………….

  • My Say

I hate the bonnet ridges that follow bumper, they looked terrible on the Commodore and look crap on this.

  • DJL

Bah – Looks like a BF my a$$. VY/Z/E are all the same too then?

This car has a real chance, keyboard warriors can pick and pick, and they will continue to drive their VL/N/P Commos.

I will wait to see what FPV do with their models.

If they look as good as the XR8 does, the BF GT might be a trade-in shortly.

  • http://www.caradvice.com goog

looks alot like a ve and a bf put together.
and yes the ford xr6 has better interior than the sv6. but thee ssv has much better interior than the xr8.
but this car looks crap in sedan, but the ute looks good. the back of it looks like identicle to the ba-bf ute from the back

  • Falcon just needs sharper lines

    DEAR FORD…

What the hell is on your mind? The Falcon XR = Sports model, not mondeo look alike model.

I am a Ford fan, but give the production model sharp lines so it won’t look so femme/AU

  • Andrew M

    there’s me ute!!!!!!!

it looks like ford can do no wrong when it comes to rear ends and interiors.

i love the extra body lines

  • Phill

Looks much better than the Commadaewoo, the flared gaurds on the base model commadaewoo with out a spoiler kit looks shit

  • Falcon just needs sharper lines

“Boring Falcon” = dickhead and should go back to Holden’s forum.

  • TP

    My thoughts…

Front end looks good, subtle but good changes
    Rear end looks good

HOWEVER… single exhaust when all competition is doing duals is DISAPPOINTING from Ford, fair enough lower models but the XR8!?! Base Aurions have it. Maybe this is just me, but I prefer abit of ‘symmetry’.

  • azza85

I’m also not liking the side profile of the XR6. It doesn’t look proportioned. For some reason it reminds me of something from the US.

  • Andrew M

    goog,
you obviously dont know your utes.

the only thing that looks the same on the rear is the actual tail gate skin.

the sides, rear bar and tail lights are all different.

also where did the hinges go??

  • TP

Oh also no projector headlamps, another thing the competition is doing and improves looks among all other things. Perhaps these may be options, although dual exhuast would be doubtful, theyve saved that for FPV… and the extra $10k that attracts.

  • TP

Azza I agree, although it could be the angle… the front looks tiny compared to huge arse.

  • Falcon just needs sharper lines

TP, I agree with what you think of the XR8 exausts

  • Boring Falcon

“falcon just need sharper lines” should just crawl back into the box they came out of.
There’s nothing wrong with constructive criticism.

  • Peter

G series looks great. The rest of the range is rather meh….. the rear reminds me of the AU! The overall design is more evolutionary than revolutionary – it’s not as dramatic as the VZ to VE. It’s good that it didn’t turn out looking like a larger Mondeo though.

  • Hmm…

I think the reason why so many of us think it looks too similar to the BF is the colour choice for its launch being BF colours(Bionic Blue – or similar too) – as compared to when the VE was released using a totally different colour range, including the burnt orange SSV as its flagship car, followed by the bright green & yellow..

  • TP

Yeah Falcon… you look at the current FPV with dual vs earlier ones without, makes them look so much better. I have no idea why Ford havent gone with it, small thing but adds alot to looks. Instead the Falcon looks good, but not great.

  • Andrew M

    TP,
    OMG i agree with you!!!!!!!

yep they do look better with one exhaust each side.
i suppose those that are bothered by it would throw an aftermarket system on it to unlock the sound that the factory keeps a lid on aswell as one pipe each side

  • Oz.

Remember this is far away from production, so there will be alot of changes. eg, Xenon headlights

  • BK

Holden people are colorblind thats there problem.

  • Oz.

Boring Falcon, that person has gone away.

  • Andrew M

we still need some “flesh” photos though

  • http://www.caradvice.com.au/ alborz

Andrew M, you’ll have to wait for our own shots of it this avo when our guys get back from the official day, at the moment, we are just trying to stay online with the amount of hits the images are getting.

  • TP

Is that far from production Oz? I think it isnt. The Wheels pic showed Xenons, so I think at the very least it will be an option… but I have doubts it will have dual exhausts, which I think is crazy given all the competition bar the deadwood (380) have duals for their sportier variants. Now if you want duals on your Falcon to look decent you will have to go aftermarket and cut into the rear diffuser.

  • BK

im gonna trade my BA XR 6 in for one of these new XR6

  • Chopstar87

Shouldnt Caradvice Photos start appearing soon???? with the real car… not photo shop pictures like most of these???

  • Westy

Is there a live feed on the Wheelsmag.com.au site ?

    Anyone ??

  • MitchellJ

Anyone who has doubts, look at the details! It actually flows unlike VE. Look at the surface detailing around the foglights! Interior looks great, like Mercedes C Class with a pulse!

  • Oz.

When is the new post coming? It should be here by now.

  • http://www.caradvice.com goog

same badges since 2002. why dont they change them. and tailgate. like holden changed everything for the ve. the vz to the ve was a huge change. but this from bf has so many simalarities. interior has alot of the same and colors so far same and front of this looks like the ba bf. 6yrs old ford. but overall it should be an ok car. it may have more kilawatts, but doesnt mean it will go faster, ford has always had most wilawatts and always been slower

  • golfschwein

It’s all new, yet so familiar.

I mean , it’s very nice but looks like it was done before Mondeo. Fiesta (2 blogs down, as I write) shows the way for true, modern WOW! factor from Ford.

  • Duckula

God, what a letdown…. its just a mid life makeover… boring boring boring…. I mean Im not Commodore fan by any stretch, but at least it was vaguely different, and this bloody thing still has those stupid buttons on the stereo that face upwards instead of towards you, and people wonder why car manufacturing in this country is almost dead. I could have designed this thing on a commodore 64 (no pun intended) and saved ford a coupla hundred million bucks! Blah…..

  • BK

goog the typhoon has been whippin holdens v8s ever since it was out.

  • Frosty

Very dissapointing effort exterior wise. Doesnt even have the coupe like curve from the side profile. Too similar to a BF2. Wont draw much attention. Doent even seem to have the trend of a higher door line which is her to improve occupants from side impact.

  • http://www.caradvice.com goog

BK yeah so. we talking about v8 power here. holden dont need a turbo. its a v8 onto a v8

  • mc_aus

How boring….. and i am a ford fan, some flared guards especially at the back, or something to differentiate it from the current BF, however looking at them side by side BF and Orion (aka BF series III) they are different (roofline etc) atleast they got the ass end right this time, infact it’s much better than the Mondeo’s butt also it’s past 12 someone should have details by now surely!

  • Neo

I Love it Ware do i sign.

  • Oz.

This site just went down! ROFL!

When’s the new Article being posted?

  • Frosty

Word is lack of styling difference is the reason for a lack of interest in it hence a delay until specs are announced.

  • JT

Still looks like an aussie ford even with the kenetic influence .XR8 ute looks alot different but still bloody fantastic looking forward to FPV range.Does any one else think bulge on XR8 bonnet looks to far forward?

  • BK

6 cylinders doin better than yu 8 cylinders no wonder its better than a v8.

  • smoke

    i really love it.
definitely gonna consider it for the new car, but whats with the wheels? again ford throws a set of ordinary looking wheels that dont fill the guards up.

  • Joober

Front looks like the BF, rear reminds me of the AU rear, just gotta curve the top side then looks so much more like the AU. otherwise now its like a hybrid of AUBF.

Overall its ok, no wows whatsoever.

  • Chopstar87

the NEW falcon is called…. FG….

    the I6 has 195Kw and 391Nm

    XR6 Turbo has 270 and 520nm

    Xr8… 290kw and 520nm

Base model has 5 speed auto… all manual vehicle gets 6 speed gear box….

  • magicp

It looks quite dated already. Very conservative and somewhat boring design for a new Falcon.

  • golfschwein

And Fairmont, always a nice name for a car, is dead. It’s now letters and numbers.

  • TP

Only 195kw… Aurion remains most powerful Aussie 6. Id say they didnt beat the Aurion becuase of fuel efficiency, the Aurion can get 9.9L per 100 and 200kw because they have a far more advanced engine.

  • Chopstar87

yes TP… but the I6 nearly has as much torque as ur beloved TRD….

  • TP

Yeah it needs it, 150kg more weight! Lets just face the facts, some of you guys were claiming 220kw or others like the idiot BF saying the Falcon is detuned while Aurion is pushrod to max in terms of power… but clearly there was a huge marketing adv for Ford to just beat Aurions power, they obviously just could not match the Aurion however they tried.

  • http://fordxr6turbo.com Flukey

Exterior doesnt look that differnt to BF, which is a little disappointing. Interior on the hand is a stand out -very impressive. Hopefully they are high on standard features and have improved performance

  • Watto_Cobra

It looks as good as I’d hoped, but some reservations. As some have said, XR8 should be dual exhaust. That single is huge, but a V engine should have duals.

Those guards are more flared than BF without going to extremes like VE.

People who say it looks like BF need to have their eyes checked. Get several shots with similar angles of BF and FG next to each other for comparison, there’s a lot of differences while still being instantly recognisable as an Australian Falcon.

  • Bavarian Missile

Hey Watto you finished work babe?

Yep should have duel exhaust but Im thinking what they have used in the XR8 is essentially all that came out of the BA GT……

The BAs were faster than the mark 11 s with dual exhaust!

So maybe not a bad thing! I thought the same with the guards too.

  • Watto_Cobra

Yeah, ruahed home to the computer, to find CA keeps locking up from being flooded with hits.

I’m loving the interior, most of the exterior. Damn, I knew they’d drop the Typhoon/Tornado names when they rejected calling the F6X the “Tempest”. Just because some touchy/feelies asked Rod Barret why they’re named after natural disasters.

We get some great names going for a great car, and they’re just dropped >:-(

  • Corolla Driver

i cant see how this is a whole new model, it looks unbelieveable similar to the existing one.

whereas the VE actually looked different to the VZ model.

    VE wins.

  • JT

Have a look at the recent pics of the G6E it looks alot better than that awkward looking calais .Very sharp indeed ,it’s great they have thrown a turbo at the luxo model smart move.

  • BK

new falcon wins again. Much better technology, better engines , nicer interior. VE is ugly compared to this new falcon. Falcons dominate again. Cant wait for GTs and Typhoon. Thats where the massacre to holden happens.

  • http://www.cardadvice,com.au AJ

    I JUST WANT ONE…………..

  • Watto_Cobra

TP, I haven’t seen any weight figures stated for FG yet, have you?

I’m still going through all this info, but they’ve already stated it dropped 22kgs in the front suspension, and 4kgs on the intake manifold alone. Have they made weight savings elsewhere as well?

Will it be heavier than BF, lighter, same weight. If someone knows, than please tell the rest of us.

Less weight, stronger engine, more fuel efficient, I think it’ll surpass your claimed figures.

  • http://www.caradvice,com.au AJ

Looks great I pity the HSV sales people

  • BK

40 yrs of GTS and only 20 for HSV no wonder Ford are the leaders in high Perormance Vehicles in OZ. Maybe one day these GTS be worth $7000,000+

  • Andrew M

    TP,
maybe it doesnt pass the 200kw mark but im sure it will pass the aurion for sure in a straight line.

also ive read it has lost weight and bettered fuel economy in the process.
perhaps they had to leave it at 195KW to keep under the 10L/100k mark??? perhaps it will land at 9.9L or better aswell?
either way they still get better economy out of it especially considering it is .5L bigger than the Aurion V6

also perhaps they dont want it to out shine the new poxy V6 that is coming. at present the proposed V6 only gets 195kw too. surely by the time it comes it will be at 210kw or something meaning people will still gradually step up in power.

also i question the Aurions “most powerfull” claims as the power is useless if it isnt accompanied by torque to back it up.

  • Lcat

could this be the first australian car to achieve a 5 star ancap rating? if it does and the car is lighter than the bf then ford deserve every accolade going.

  • BK

Torque is what wins races and Ford have that. No other OZ car comes close to those torque figures in 2008 and it never will. New falcon startin at 391Nm so does any other standard six have that. FORD wins again.

  • Watto_Cobra

As a side note Andrew.M, can’t remember where I read it, but someone suggested future P-plate restrictions may have played a part too. I don’t know anything about that, we’ll have to see.

  • JT

TP comparing an aurion to a falcon is crazy ,have you driven one or are you one of the very few who own one .Its strange that toyota call a camry a medium car and try to flog off the aurion as a large car(the game did’nt change)falcon V commodore .

  • Andrew M

    JT,
oh but the game did change mate……
dont you remember the aurion was placed against VR commodores in the advert for the aurion?
tough B-a-s-t-a-r-d-s at toyota ha ha ha ha ha

go back and play in the kindergarden sandpit toyota so you look good again

  • Andrew M

    Watto,
so is 200kw+ off limits to P Platers now too?

i think 150kw is plenty for them anyhow.

just have a look at the amount of them that are getting killed in 150kw commodores………..

  • Andrew M

    Lcat,
i saw a video on the safety and their high expectations on the safest aussie car title. (well they have always claimed it i suppose)

they say they wont get it individually tested straight away as they want to let the hype around the vehicle release to die down first and then get more publicity out of the crash results

  • Watto_Cobra

I don’t know Andrew.M. I read something about it a while ago, and am having trouble finding it again.

So, does anyone know if there were weight savings in other areas yet? Or what it’s official mass is?

Hey BM, Andrew.M, check the “interior” blog. Funny quote I put up from Ford.

  • Bavarian Missile

TP………after seeing that the Cobra has 313 kws at the Flywheel not 302 I wouldn’t count your chickens before their hatched on exactly how much they really do have in the new Fords…..

Lets wait for a test till we start speculating on who has what!

  • Bavarian Missile

    ANTI-SPAM word Holden….just for you Abb man!hahaha

Seems we have our own Ford Forum today…..cool!

  • Watto_Cobra

Dammit, I have to start saving “favorites” when I see something interesting.

I’m not too up on the different ways power/torque is measured. You know “DIN” and stuff like that so you could help me out BM.

When the “leaked” CGIs of the FPVs were released in Wheels last year, around the same time they also did dyno tests on all the performance variants from Ford/FPV and Holden/HSV.

When equating claimed power figures versus actual rear wheel kilowatts on a dyno, it tended to be the Fords/FPV and HSV were exaggerated, where as the SS actually produced more power versus the official figures.

Anyway, my point about wishing I’d saved references is that recently it was stated Ford were switching to Holdens more conservative power measurement method (I can’t remember what it was called, DIN something?) so they may be making more power than stated.

  • Watto_Cobra

I forgot to say, hence why the SS did so well in the “Bang for your Bucks”.

  • Lcat

Watto_Cobra this is the only ref to weight i’ve seen.
“weight almost unchanged The all-new Ford FG Falcon has gained only 10 kilos despite a safer body structure and more equipment. …” from drive.com.au

  • Watto_Cobra

    Thanks Lcat.

What did the VE gain? 100+kgs?

I expected a “little” weight gain for safety reasons. Losing a specific 26kgs off front suspension and intake manifold, they’ve used that to offset the new features/safety. Apparently fully expecting a five star rating.

  • Bavarian Missile

Hey Watto what do you want to know?
Din {German}is the metric system that we bascially use here in Austalia taken at the Flywheel……..

RWHP …….is taken at the rear wheels, from memory 25% of power is lost through the drive train.

There are a few ways of determining HP……these are just a few….

Ross is the guru of tech stuff babe Im sure he will be more than happy to help you if you give him a quick email….he is very technical though…..smarty pants!hahaha

Anyone read about the exhaust for the new GT……seems to have the same system as the Astons have…….can flow to straight through system when your on it….so that will be where they will be picking up their extra power along with different ratio Tremacs{yippy}than the previous to help it accelerate!

  • GhisGT

I recon Holden just breathed a sigh of relief.

$800 million for a face lift?

I recon people will hardly notice it’s the new Falcon on the road, so much for all this big talk.

Oh, and lovin’ the interior styling cues taken straight from the VE – two tone identical colour choice, centre info screen in between gauge binnacles. Not to the mention the exterior, I dont even wanna go there.

Gone of the days where you could easily tell a VB Commodore from a XD Falcon.

The similarities between the two now are just ridiculous, I laugh at all you people saying its gonna kick the Commodores arse. It’s the same figgen car!

  • GhisGT

I recon Ford just breathed a sigh of relief.

VE = 1 billion for a face lift?

I recon people will hardly notice it’s the new commodore on the road, so much for all this big talk.

Oh, and lovin’ the interior styling cues taken straight from the FG – two tone identical colour choice, centre info screen in between gauge binnacles. Not to the mention the exterior, I dont even wanna go there.

Gone of the days where you could easily tell a VB Commodore from a XD Falcon.

The similarities between the two now are just ridiculous, I laugh at all you people saying its gonna kick the Falcons arse. It’s the same figgen car!

  • GhisGT

Oh the maturity in the place. You can’t half tell why you’re too scared to hide behind someone elses name. Run away my little child, come back when you finally sit for your L’s test.

Oh, and by the way, the VE was designed from the ground up. Hardly call that a facelift, but I doubt you know the meaning of the word anyway.

Oh, for the record, I own a Ford and don’t own a Commodore. But…, it’s a very old Ford, you wouldn’t know about those ;)

Great stuff here. Loving it. Best looking Falcon in 20 years. Safest Falcon ever (we hope). G Series actually looks like a luxury car.

Much more sleek, curvaceous & aerodynamic than the VE, which combines the squareness of a Volvo 240 with the morbid obesity of a Chevrolet Suburban.

And, on a more pedantic note, the door handles have undergone their biggest change in 20 years.

  • BK

Holden commodore VE is only a 4 star in world class safety. So what the hell did they spend there billion dollars on. There engines are gutless and trannys dont work properly. New FG is allready rated a 5 star in world class safety. Nowonder Ford is the best aussie made car in the world.

  • GhisGT

Oh and BK.. engines are gutless? Consider a 13.2 quater mile gutless. Grow up and get the facts before guessing what the real world is like… 307kw gutless, 270kw gutless… LOL @ the old XR6T at 240kw…

  • BK

Took holden 35 years to get to 300Kw so why so long. Drive a Ford cause we had that power back in the 70s with the worlds fastest 4 door sedan and still now. Wouldnt be fair if Ford over powered Holden again. We have to let Holden catch up and its taken 35 years to do it. Get yu facts right Ghis GT why buy a holden for $35,000 when you can get a falcon for $750,000. Shame shame shame to a (oldhen) or is it holden or GM or opal or what ever name it. Does anybody know what a VE really is??

  • Duck

^^Wait and see smart arse! Holden will not let ford stomp on them!!!!!!!!!! Holden will beat ford when they bring out the VF in 2 years time! Not 35 years!

  • Duck

Holden spent more money on the Commodore than ford mainly because of the all new platform! Not like ford, still using the same old crap AU platform started 11 years ago! It’s 2008 Ford not 1997!

  • BK

Holden will never be a aussie icon like a XYGTHO phase III Falcon. For 750,000 bucks its gonna be more than 35 yrs for holden to catch up its gonna be never catch up to Ford. For a billion dollars holden still a 4 star rating.

  • Oz.

Duck, what wrong with the platform Ford’s using? Sure it’s an old design. But whats the problem with that?

  • Duck

Um BK Holden said before when the VE was going to be released they said it was going to be a 5 star but it didnt so when the falcon comes out it may be a 4 star too!

  • Bret

Oz, its not an old platform, in fact the platform is 80% NEW.

  • Duck

    Oz.,
Its just because people are saying holden have lost heaps and heaps of money compared to ford thats mainly because ford have used the same platform over ten years now, not like Holden, thats all!

  • Andrew M

    Duck,
but up until 18mths ago the commodore platform was shyte.

oh and when you say platform what exactlly do you mean?
suspension included or just the bare steel that the panels grow upward from?

  • http://tvr TP

Doubt the Falcon will beat Aurion in straight line, less power on top of more power lost at wheels and only abit of a torque adv given extra weight (even with weight reduction still fair bit heavier… I doubt they reduced weight thouh tbh, you dont add for eg curtain airbags and other features and lose weight unless they actually designed a totally new platform, which they didnt)

  • BK

For blind holden drivers who crash there cars and die in a unsafe commodore.
So how can the new Falcon still look the same and have the same features when its a eighth generation falcon. Holden people must be really blind. New falcon has more safety features than holden and toyota. FG falcon has all new sheetmetal and interior, upgraded engines and chassis and a improvement in safety structure that is expected to be the first five star NCAP safety rating for an Australian built car. Ford have to do it first because they are way ahead in technology than all the other cars

  • Duck

    BK,
    Will you ever shut up!
DIDNT YOU HEAR ME? HOLDEN SAID BEFORE WHEN THEY RELEASED THE COMMODORE THEY SAID THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE FIVE STARS BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE FOUR! SO THE FALCON ID SAY MIGHT COME OUT AS A FOUR STAR TOO!

And guess what BK, do you know whats so sad about the current ford falcon RTV its ONLY GOT ONE AIRBAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And your going on about safety!

  • Duck

Apparently the VE is said to be as safe as the VZ and VY

Holden’s official response was that ANCAP doesn’t represent real world conditions, and that 80 cars were crash-tested during the VE’s development in addition to more than 5,000 computer-simulated barrier tests.

  • Duck

Holden also said…….We acknowledge that ANCAP exists and that it has a purpose but we don’t design our cars for ANCAP”

But if the falcon does come out as a five star it will not effect sales for the VE. But if the falcon does come out as a 5 star holden with the new car the VF will make it 5 star.

  • BK

poor old duck doesnt like to see his VE get beaten. Theres about 10,000 things better about the new falcon compared to your old VE. Maybe these new falcons will be worth 750,000 dollars one day cause they are 5 star rating. GTHO

  • Duck

    BK,
But ford have not confirmed it yet and it has not been tested by ANCAP yet!

  • Duck

    BK,
Old VE what are you on?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????
It was two years ago weirdo when the VE was first released!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://elfin Craig lowndes.

I think the ve is ugly but has all the goodies inside, the new xt is a very good lookin car when compared to an omega. And to those who think it like a bf,get your eyes checked because this is new inside and out.Now im off to adelaide clipsal 500 to blow away russell ingall in his new holden ve.

  • BK

VE is over the hill and way way behind in Fords technology. Moe safety features on Fords , faster, more power, torque and the list goes on and on. Just to good VE is oldhen now not holden.

  • Duck

Cant bloody spell correctly BK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA!!!!!!!! Sucker!!!!! ford only made a more powerful engine because the commodore has been flogging the falcon in power for now a decade, so they are the ones cathing up!!!!!!!!

  • Wheelnut

Not only that Duck.. but when ANCrAP did the Tests on the VE and the Aurion.. Holden had only jsut started Production of the VE and was concentrating on getting enough cars out to the major dealers.. Therefore they only provided 4 cars.. al of which passed.

Whereas Toyota initially provided 5 cars.. 4 Passed the last one failed.. so they provided another car [at therie own expense] which failed and another and another which finally passed.

Which is why I say ANCrAp don’t test the safety of a particular Model like the Commodore or Aurion they tet the safety of a particular car of that model.

So why the VE or the Barina ANCrAp used in their tests may have failed the one in your drive might actually pass

  • Duck

Craig Lowndes, If you were here id punch you!
You changed from HOLDEN TO FORD YOU IDIOT WHAT WERE YOU THINKING! You were doing so well with holden. Swithing from holden to ford is like swithing to an aussie to a kiwi (no offense)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So i hope your ford crashes and burns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BK

Ford have seen where other cars have failed in safety so thats why Ford make the new falcon safer than all the others. Its the first all aussie made car with a 5 star rating. Ford have been easily poundin holdens away in engines to. 60s, 70s and 80s was dominated by “BOSS” v8 falcons and then it was the 6 cylinders turn to chew up holdens. I cant think of a holden engine or is there such thing as a Holden engine that can compete with a Ford engine. These Ford typhoons do have the highest torque output from any aussie muscle car.

  • Oz.

Good to hear it’s not completly a carry over Bret.

  • http://tvr TP

Somone has stated in the past that the Aurion and Commodore did not get 5 stars because ANCAP requires a payment to perform certain tests which are required for it… if this was true then I wouldnt be attacking the Commodore and indeed the Aurion for safety (certainly ironic though given the Falcon was behind the 8 call for half a year or so in terms of safety… no curtains, no esp)

  • http://elfin Craig lowndes.

I got sick of the old holden, look at ingall hes back its about money and my skills to bring ford to victory.Keep an eye on the bf falcon lets hope skaifey crashes, hes a wanker that guy.Remember last year f ckin BANG!

  • golfschwein

TP is absolutely right. My own understanding varies only slightly from his, in that Toyota and Holden were required to supply a vehicle at their own expense for side-impact pole tests.

With this done, it was virtually assured that the cars would have earned 5 stars, but the makers refused. The cost of a $30,000 car seems a very small outlay to get a marketable 5 stars, in my view.

Watch them. If Ford achieves 5 stars, Holden and Toyota will come up with the goods. Competition does this.

  • Andrew M

ford has proven that they continuously offer the safest australian vehicle.
im sure there past reputation on safety must count for something when people predict that the new falcon will go to the top once again.

    Duck,
dont be so bitter about the Lowndes departure from holden.
it is well documented that he left as he didnt like the way the team was heading (with walkinshaws involvement)

the next holden driver i would invite to fords camp would be Todd Kelly. he too has been shafted by holden and kicked out of the team where his efforts exceded his co-drivers. (thats good old tom at work again)
perhaps its because todd like lowndes are actually nice guys and dont fit with the other bunch of tools in holdens Walkinshaw den.
also you would be in the majority that would want to put one on lowndes’s chin as he is constantly voted “most liked”
