Nissan Titan Warrior pickup revives Baja vibes for Detroit

Nissan of America has revisited the days of its ‘Hardbody’ Baja racer, unveiling the Titan Warrior concept at this week’s Detroit auto show.

Based on the new Titan pickup unveiled at last year’s Detroit show, the Warrior packs in extensive upgrades that give it an even musclier and more than a little futuristic look.

Developed together with a team of design and aftermarket specialists from across the United States, the Titan Warrior wears unique styling at both ends, including a new grille and bumper, new LED lighting and new side skirts.

More noticeable however is the Warrior’s huge pumped guards, which give the pickup an additional 152mm of width.

That’s handy, because the Warrior also rides on custom 18x9.5-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, while the height is also boosted from 1998 to 2070mm.

Under the skin, there’s also lengthened prototype axles, a custom sway-bar and rear lift blocks at the rear, along with hydraulic pressurised bump stops at both ends.

Power is again provided by the Titan’s usual 5.0-litre V8 turbo diesel with 750Nm of torque on tap, matched to a six-speed Aisin auto.

Nissan hasn’t offered any word on a production future for the Titan Warrior, but as a potential rival to Ford’s Raptor, this concept has plenty going for it.

In the US, that is. Because Nissan has no intention to bring the Titan to Australia.
