Lexus NX 300h fuel consumption revealed

The new Lexus NX 300h hybrid SUV will use as little as 5.6 litres of petrol per 100 kilometres, with the Japanese brand claiming the new model will be the most efficient in its segment when it launches in October 2014.

The new Lexus NX 300h is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine teamed to electric motors that helps it produce 145kW of power. The car is available in either front-wheel drive (which the 5.6L claim is for) and all-wheel drive (which sees fuel use rise incrementally to 5.7L/100km).

Compared with the most efficient versions of its closest rivals, the Lexus betters the Audi Q5 (7.9L/100km: 2.0 TFSI Quattro), BMW X3 (7.3L/100km: xDrive20i) and Range Rover Evoque (7.8L/100km: Si4 AWD).

Every Lexus NX 300h has a CVT automatic transmission that offers a six-speed sequential shift action.

No fuel consumption figures have been released for the new Lexus NX 200t, which features the brand's first ever four-cylinder turbo engine. That mill produces 175kW and 350Nm, and fuel use is estimated at closer to 8.0L/100km.
