James and Dave hit the skidpan in two rear-wheel-drive V8-powered Holdens to find out which is best at helping out your mates on Australia Day.
A BBQ is a tradition on January 26th - Australia Day.
But when you need someone to bring all the gear, who do you call - your mate with a ute or your mate with a wagon?
The guys from CarAdvice.com.au will need to deliver some fake lawn, a TV, a cricket set, some snacks, lamington cakes, an esky full of ginger beer, a deck chair and the all-important Australian desert, the pavlova.
Carrying the load is James' choice of a Holden Commodore SS-V Redline Sportwagon, and David in a Holden Commodore SS Ute.
Both cars feature a 6.0-litre V8 engine, the wagon with 260kW and automatic transmission, the ute has 270kW and a 6-speed manual.
The challenge requires the cars to complete a simple motorkhana, side-by-side on the skid pan.
The guys will load all the gear into the back, and head back down to the other end.
First man to set up his stuff and crack open a ginger beer wins!
With the boys dressed in appropriate Australian national costumes – the hi-vis tradie and fashion-lacking dad - combined with requisite sunshine, zinc cream and flags, the scene is set for an epic showdown.
What follows is plenty of tyre-squealing, rear-wheel-drive good fun as ute battles wagon for the 2015 CarAdvice Australia Day Challenge.
Who will win!
