2021 Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line revealed and walkaround tour: video

The new i30 Sedan N Line (née Elantra) will make its Australian showroom debut later this year, but we've had a chance to take a quick look in Sydney

CarAdvice was invited to get up close and personal with the new 2021 Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line – but, as this particular car is a pre-production model, there was no opportunity for a quick drive. That'll have to wait until later this year.

We did, however, have the chance to investigate what's under the bonnet, in the cabin, and the cargo area, to see what this new sports sedan will be bringing to Hyundai's growing i30 range.

As suspected when the car was first revealed, the i30 Sedan N Line will be powered by a revised 'Smartstream' version of Hyundai's 1.6 litre turbo petrol four-cylinder engine, which again produces 150kW of power and 265Nm of torque.

It also debuts Hyundai's new Constantly Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology. This allows the engine to control the amount of time the engine's valves are open for, which is how it differs from older Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and valve-lift technologies.

It will also be offered with a choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Design-wise, the new i30 Sedan N-Line benefits from an exclusive styling package both inside and out, adding a new layer of sportiness to the already edgy new look.

On the inside, there's a new dashboard layout that will be exclusive to the i30 Sedan range.

On top of that, with the N-Line version, you'll find sports seats, a unique colour scheme which incorporates black trim with red stitching, as well as sporty touches to the pedals, steering wheel and gear knob.

On the outside, there's a body kit, 18-inch alloy wheels, and blacked-out trim.

Underneath the bold styling, you'll find a localised ride and handling package and a multi-link rear suspension setup. Braking will be carried out by 304mm discs up front, matched to 284mm rear discs.

We're keen to get behind the wheel at the launch event, which is currently planned for the end of 2020.
