2019 Kia Sorento GT-Line long-term review: Interior space and comfort
You'd expect Kia's bells-and-whistles Sorento GT-Line to make all of the right noises inside, where the family will spend its time. Let's have a closer look in our long-termer.
Perhaps the most important element of a family SUV is what lies inside.
Sure, it needs to be safe, easy to drive with enough performance and handling, but the actual interface of family and machine will be at the innards.
With that in mind, let's have a closer look at the interior of our long-termer 2019 Kia Sorento GT-Line.
The Sorento GT-Line does get some nice additions for your spend: heated and ventilated front seats, with heated outboard seats in the second row.
The sunroof in this specification is generously sized, going across the front two rows.
While finished off with some snazzy white stitching, piping and perforations, the leather trimming's look and feeling of quality aren't as high as some others. The Santa Fe Highlander and CX-9 Azami come to mind.
While the overall quality and 'premium' feel might be a little behind some competitors, it's hard to critique the general layout and ergonomics of the cabin.
It's spacious in the right places, with some handy storage points, and all of your important controls within reach.
Along with a good-sized centre console, there are also two cup holders and an extra lidded compartment on either side of the shifter to imbibe your everyday stuff.
More pragmatic to point out is that the interior seems hard-wearing and easy to maintain in its relatively overly black colour scheme.
The dashboard material (reminiscent of soft landing material from a playground) doesn't scuff easily, and most surfaces will wipe clean relatively simply.
Extra for this specification is the bigger 8.0-inch infotainment screen, which runs Kia's familiar and easy-to-use operating system.

All of the important players are accounted for here: digital radio, smartphone mirroring and native navigation.
I must say I like the star button, which you can assign to something of your choosing. For me, it's quick access back to Android Auto after changing radio stations.
Special mention from my wife for the 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, which pumps out The Wiggles, PlaySchool and Florence + The Machine well.
The second row of the Sorento slides fore and aft, giving you some flexibility with your loading.
Slide them all the way forward if you've got a full boot or using the third row, or take them all the way back for maximum space for second-row occupants.
The second row benefits from no transmission tunnel, as well as air vents and a couple of power outlets.
And while the third row is comfortable enough for adults across both rows at once (as long as they aren't leviathan), you aren't completely stooged for storage space.
Naturally, there is stacks when the third row is folded into the floor (605L), but 142L is enough for a few bags of groceries, even with the full complement of seats deployed.
In this segment, the Sorento is a bit of a quiet performer. The interior performs well where it counts: space, safety and comfort.
And in this $58,990 GT-Line specification, you get some nice additions on the inside for the additional spend.
