Holden Colorado Accessory Packs launched: Something for everyone?
The hard-working Holden Colorado range has been blessed with five new accessory packs to help the brand stand out among a sea of dual cab utes on the market right now.
Of course, the idea of an upgrade pack isn’t necessarily new, with most manufacturers adding one or two at some point along a vehicle’s lifetime.
Most merely involve the addition of a few stickers and perhaps some black rims, and this is where Holden has set itself apart. The packs themselves aren’t a simply a few stickers – well, one is, but elsewhere they are proper accessories.
Think side steps, rear steps, suspension upgrades and in some cases, roof trays. All have been engineered in-house by Holden, or – in the case of the roof racks – in conjunction with Rhino-Rack. Cleverly, they also fit the Rhino-Rack accessories. And unlike some other mods or aftermarket accessories, none of these void the Holden Colorado warranty.
For anyone not quite sure what they are looking for, these ready-made packs take the guesswork out of choosing which accessories you need from the outset. And no matter your vocation or passion, there is a pack for it.
For the working man, the Tradie Pack, complete with roof tray and tub, or the Farmer's Pack available in light or heavy duty options. A no-nonsense steel tray and tough underbody suspension will keep anyone working long into the night.
Families will appreciate the Rig Pack with its towing ability and comfort, while the Black Pack will ensure you stand out from the crowd. The King of them all though, is the Xtreme Pack, set up for serious adventurers. It has almost everything including front end suspension upgrades, bar work and a winch.
The packs were developed with input from dealers and long-time Colorado owners, and I think for the most part, they have got the mix just about right.
There are obvious omissions on certain vehicles, such as the Xtreme Pack. Given it is a setup for dedicated off-roaders, with a large bull bar on the front and WARN winch, it lacks a rear diff lock and snorkel which to me are crucial ads for any serious off-roader.
My pick across the range is the Rig pack. It offers the best value, towing ability and comfort. An outlay of $4650 on top of the standard Holden Colorado pricing gets you a nudge bar, electronic brake upgrade and tow bar, carpet mats for the front and rear, bonnet protector, LED light bar, cup holders and weather shield on all four doors.
You could pair it with a boat, or caravan and literally go anywhere straight from the showroom floor.
The pricing on the rest of the packs varies depending on your choice, with the Xtreme being the range-topper at $19,950 on top of the standard vehicle price tag, while the Black Pack comes in at an affordable $2950 on top of the standard Colorado pricing.
These packs are a clever move from Holden. They’ve really added serious value to the Colorado and at the same time re-invigorated a popular platform, increasing appeal across multiple user categories.
