Feast your eyes on this Italian thoroughbred. It’s the Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 and it swaps the usual all-wheel drive system for a more lively rear-wheel drive set-up and this is the first time we’ve seen it in Australia after its global debut at last year’s Los Angeles auto show.
Under here is the same deliciously boisterous 5.2-litre V10 naturally aspirated petrol engine that we have come to love for it’s magnificent engine note.
But this version is down by 23kW and 20Nm compared with its LP610-4 Huracan sibling. Not that you’d really miss it – what with 426kW and 540Nm going to the rear wheels.
And Lamborghini claims that 405 of those Newton-metres are available from just 1000rpm, meaning, this thing can still blast from 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds – two-tenths slower than the more powerful all-wheel drive version. Put that down to better traction off the line.
