There are some fantastic driver training and driving experiences on offer in Australia.
The Germans lead the way with Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen offer a wide range of courses to the general public. Others like Isuzu, Land Rover and Jaguar run special events for owners that involve expert instructors, race-tracks and off-road adventures.
Peugeot, Hyundai and Lexus also organize programs for customers as well as prospects with invitations to special one-off events often made available through outlets like social media.
Any time you can get behind the wheel of any car with an expert to guide you, is well worth it. You can improve your driving technique, as well as get to know how the technology works, test out safety systems, explore more technical skills like racing, off-road or ice driving.
The video above is a sample of some of the courses I’ve done in the past couple of years, and though each covered similar techniques through similar exercises, each was still very different.
The courses shown in are the Audi Advanced Driving Experience at Sandown Raceway, BMW Intensive Driving Experience at Sydney Motorsport Park, Mercedes-AMG Performance Drive Day at Phillip Island and Porsche Woman With Drive Day that covered off their Precision course at the Mount Cotton driver training facility.
