The all new HiLux debuts with a brand new diesel engine and boasts an impressive 3.5 tonne towing capacity in manual trim in addition to a wading depth of 700mm.
Top spec models get bi-LED headlights and a new interior with a large 7.0-inch colour touchscreen and a central LED screen at the tachometer.
On the road the HiLux is relaxed and compliant but can be a bit firm at times. The HiLux runs as a 2WD ute most of the time but can be switched to 4WD at the turn of a knob.
Off road the HiLux uses a low-range gearbox and rear differential lock to climb steep terrain. The simplified system replaces the dual-lever arrangement of the old HiLux.
With 279mm of ground clearance, the HiLux is capable enough for some serious off-road driving.
