Back in the 70's there was one name equally well known by surfers as it was concerned parents...
The Holden Sandman.
And now, for 2015, it's back!
While most people will remember the panel van, across four generations of Holden Kingswood, the Sandman was also sold as a ute.
For 2015 it is based on the current VF Commodore platform in both SV6 and SS V V8 guise.
So, what do you get?
Some cool decals down the length of the car. A really neat black sportsbar, 20-inch gloss black wheels, and of course plenty of Sandman signage.
One of the trademarks of the original Sandman was the giant lettering across the tailgate. Now, with the number plate in the way, it has been relegated to the rear window.
Let's take a look inside...
Up here, it's pretty standard VF fare. You do get a nice stitched panel on the dash, and some cool floor mats, but for the ultimate throwback are these bright-orange shagpile seat covers. Which, while optional, are ridiculously comfortable.
A future modern classic?
Well, perhaps not, but the new Holden Sandman is a lot of fun and a cool nod back to Holden's past.
