Volvo shuffles production amid US-China tariff tiff

Swedish marque Volvo has been forced to switch up its production schedule in an effort to dodge higher American import tariffs on Chinese-made vehicles. Industry journal Automotive News says Volvo has cancelled plans to export the all-new S60 sedan (above/below) from its new American factory to the Chinese market, just months after commencing production.

When the all-new second-generation Volvo XC90 launched in 2015, many were surprised to see some of the much-touted safety technology available only as an optional fitment. IntelliSafe Assist, comprising adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, lane departure mitigation and a forward collision warning, was previously available as a $2600 option or as part of a $4000 driver assistance package.
