2021 Volkswagen Touareg R coming with PHEV power

Volkswagen is working on an even hotter version of its Touareg luxury SUV, with the company's marketing boss confirming it will feature a plug-in hybrid system. Speaking with media at the global reveal of the eighth-generation Golf hatchback, Jürgen Stackmann said the Touareg will be "the first R model to go plug-in hybrid" – as reported by the UK's Autocar. In that one statement, Stackmann confirmed both a Touareg R and the style of powertrain.

2020 Volkswagen Golf pricing and specs

Volkswagen Australia has announced details of the 2020 Golf line-up, which now sees the entire range advertised with drive-away pricing. Prices start at $24,990 drive-away for the entry-level 110TSI Trendline manual, and climb to $57,990 drive-away for the flagship Golf R wagon. In between there’s Comfortline, Highline, Alltrack and GTI models, too, though the diesel Highline and Alltrack Premium models have been dropped.

The Volkswagen Golf R is hardly what you'd call slow, but imagine doubling the amount of power it produces. Well, a 75-year-old man in the UK has done just that. His Mk7 Golf R has been tuned to deliver just under 600bhp (447kW), not that you'd be able to tell by looking at it. The main changes contributing to the power bump are a massive turbocharger and upgraded fuel pump he's "shoehorned" into the engine bay. Volkswagen T-Roc R spied at the Nurburgring

A prototype believed to be the rumoured Volkswagen T-Roc R has been spied this week near the famed Nurburgring circuit in Germany. Compared to the standard model - which was revealed just weeks ago - this development vehicle sports unique LED daytime-running lights (strips on this car compared to the circular ones of the market version) and quad tailpipes out the back.
