Dieselgate, when it was revealed Volkswagen was deliberately cheating emissions tests by using a defeat device, hit the company hard in 2015. It was this saga that drove Volkswagen to clean up its act, and plunge billions into its electrification technology.

2020 Volkswagen Golf GTE spied

The next-generation Volkswagen Golf GTE plug-in hybrid has been spied by photographers during development testing in Europe. In typical fashion, the Golf PHEV looks pretty much identical to all the other Mk8 prototypes we've seen over the past year, with the exception of the extra flap in the front-left fender housing the charge port.

Volkswagen ID.3 dashboard revealed

Volkswagen's first mass-produced electric vehicle, the ID.3, will get a dual-screen infotainment system and a gear selector inspired by the BMW i3. In a video that's since been removed from YouTube, Volkswagen reveals the ID.3's minimalist dashboard layout, which is dominated by screens. The images you see here were captured by Inside EVs.

Volkswagen launches electric car sharing service

The new Volkswagen WeShare car sharing service is now available in Berlin with a fleet of 1500 e-Golf hatchbacks. At the beginning of 2020 the company will add 500 e-Up models, with the new ID.3 set to join the fleet from the middle of 2020. Vehicles will be "free floating", and do not need to be returned to rental stations, designated car spots or their original locations. Cars will be available within a 150 square kilometre area around Berlin's city centre.
