Volkswagen preparing sporty GTX EV range - report

Alex Misoyannis • Volkswagen is said to be preparing a range of performance-oriented ‘GTX’ flagships for its burgeoning ID electric vehicle range. According to an Autocar report, the GTX badge will be applied to performance-oriented ID models, including a top-spec variant of the production take on the ID Crozz coupe-SUV concepts, reportedly dubbed ID.5.

Why don't Australians buy more EVs?

Driving range, price, and limited knowledge of the available choices are three major impediments to improving battery-electric vehicle (EV) take-up in Australia. That’s the quick and unsurprising summary of a market survey from analytics firm Nielsen, called Caught in the Slow Lane, Australian Adoption of Electric Vehicles. As the name suggests, market penetration of electric vehicles in Australia is far lower than most equivalent markets across Europe, Asia and the USA.

Volkswagen e-Beetle debuts e-Up's updated drivetrain

The Volkswagen e-Beetle concept will make its debut next week at the 2019 Frankfurt motor show, and is powered by a version of the updated drivetrain which will soon grace the e-Up in Europe. In adopting the electric powertrain, the e-Beetle adopts the same front-engine, front-wheel drive layout as the e-Up.

Volkswagen to debut new logo at Frankfurt show

Volkswagen has confirmed it will unveil its redesigned logo at the 2019 Frankfurt motor show, which takes place in September. While the automaker hasn't officially revealed the new identity, we've already seen it undisguised on a number of eighth-generation Golf prototypes (above). Compared to the current badge (below), the refreshed design has slimmer lettering and a thinner surrounding circle.
