There are few surprises left when it comes to the latest generation of VW's benchmark small car, and now we have our first look at the new 2021 Volkswagen Golf wagon. Speaking of no surprises, there is little about the look of the new Golf wagon that will shock. As with the outgoing Golf 7.5, the new Golf 8 wagon will simply stretch its roofline and wheelbase to deliver a useful boost in capacity – without any of the 'sportwagon' tapering often adopted elsewhere.

2020 Volkswagen Golf pricing and specs

Volkswagen Australia has announced details of the 2020 Golf line-up, which now sees the entire range advertised with drive-away pricing. Prices start at $24,990 drive-away for the entry-level 110TSI Trendline manual, and climb to $57,990 drive-away for the flagship Golf R wagon. In between there’s Comfortline, Highline, Alltrack and GTI models, too, though the diesel Highline and Alltrack Premium models have been dropped.

Volkswagen Golf Mk8 launching Q3 2020 in Oz

Volkswagen Australia has confirmed it's still expecting the eighth-generation Golf range during the third quarter of 2020, following reports out of Europe its launch will be delayed due to 'technical glitches'. Speaking with CarAdvice, Paul Pottinger, communications boss for Volkswagen Australia, said regardless of the reported delays, the local arm should launch the next-gen Golf between June and August next year.

2018 Volkswagen Golf R drive-away pricing announced

Volkswagen has announced drive-away pricing for the 2018 Golf R hatch and wagon, as it prepares to bring the MY19 range into showrooms. The drive-away Golf R range will kick off at $48,490 drive-away in Grid Edition Manual guise, jumping to $50,990 for the DSG. Volkswagen previously priced the two from $47,490 and $49,990 before on-road costs respectively.
