Aston Martin to offer electric power in 90 per cent of its cars by 2030

Aston Martin will offer electrified powertrains in 90 per cent of its models by 2030, according to CEO Tobias Moers. “Electric drive is part of our journey and our product plan for the future,” Mr Moers told a group of investors late last week. “We should achieve something by the middle of the decade – that’s the ballpark. That’s the period of time and I think it’s crucial.”

UPDATE: Mercedes-AMG boss takes top job at Aston Martin

Tobias Moers, the head of Mercedes-Benz’s performance division AMG, is set to take the top job at struggling British luxury marque Aston Martin. UPDATE 26/5/20: Tobias Moers has taken the role of CEO at Aston Martin, it has been confirmed. Aston Martin is expected to make an announcement regarding the appointment on Tuesday, according to the Financial Times.

The Mercedes-AMG Project One, now called the Mercedes-AMG One, is set to hit Australian shores some time in late 2019. And, despite using a Formula One-derived engine, the brand claims it's going to be easy to drive. Speaking with CarAdvice at the 2018 Paris motor show, Tobias Moers, the chairman of the management board of Mercedes-AMG said that the One will be supremely quick, but won't require a race driver to take advantage of its performance.

Mercedes-AMG: No standalone SUV coming

The Mercedes-AMG performance sub-brand has no plans to develop its own mega-power crossover, arguing such a car would cannibalise existing Mercedes-Benz products. The ever-growing performance division this week launched the new GT 4-Door super-limo, expanding its line-up into the ‘family’ space for the first time. The obvious question is, what’s next? Company boss, Tobias Moers, told us an SUV option wouldn't be given the green light – at least not any time soon.
