Nissan Patrol next in line for locally tuned, mega off-road edition

Nissan is poised to give its Patrol V8 another boost following its recent sales surge – with plans for a special edition designed to appeal to hardcore off-roaders. Buoyed by a new partnership with a local engineering firm that will overnight unveil a rival to the Toyota Rugged X and Ford Ranger Raptor – based on the top-of-the-range Nissan Navara – the company says it is keen to explore options on other models across the range.

Nissan preparing electric training centre in Victoria

Nissan Australia will build its new national headquarters and electric vehicle training centre in Melbourne, creating 60 new jobs in the process. The training centre will be used to train dealers, engineers and technicians from New Zealand and Australia on the new world of Nissan electric vehicles, first of which is the Leaf hatchback. Nissan is currently headquartered in Dandenong South, Victoria, where 400 people are employed. The new training centre will create 60 more jobs.

Nissan Australia to electrify one third of volume by 2022

Nissan Australia has announced plans to make a third of its total volume electrified by 2022, led by the new Leaf electric vehicle. Announced at an event in Sydney today, the electric push is part of Nissan's global M.O.V.E. to 2022 plan, and is designed to establish it as a leader on electric vehicles in Australia.

Nissan not ruling out passenger cars

Nissan Australia has culled most of its non-SUV range, but the company says it's still looking into bringing passenger cars here. Speaking to CarAdvice at the local launch of the 2018 Qashqai (review this Friday), Stephen Lester, CEO for Nissan's local division, said passenger cars haven't been ruled out for our market. "As we go forward, the key will be developing the product strategy and uncovering what the opportunity is for bringing the right vehicles into Australia," he said.
