Free fuel for life: Nissan and CSIRO launch solar-powered EV charging station trial

It’s the dream of any motorist: free fuel for life – and Nissan Australia is poised to find out if it’s possible and practical. Nissan has unveiled three electric-car charging stations at its head office in Melbourne powered by solar panels on its roof. They are part of a 200-day trial to find out if solar-powered charging stations can provide truly emissions-free motoring.

Nissan Titan pick-up still a chance for Australia

The Nissan Titan pick-up has been given new hope of coming to Australia, after being ruled in and out for local introduction over the past two years. Nissan Australia boss Steve Lester says the company has not given up on getting the Nissan Titan into local showrooms – and has been buoyed by the success of the Ram 1500, which until recently was only available with petrol V8.

2019 Nissan Pathfinder pricing and specs

Nissan Australia has announced an upgraded 2019 Pathfinder range this week, which sees enhanced equipment levels and a new variant. Priced from $43,390 plus on-road costs, the entry-level Pathfinder ST is $1400 dearer than before, though it now gets autonomous emergency braking with forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control as standard equipment. A USB-C is also now included in the second row.

Nissan Australia knows it needs more models, says it has a plan

Nissan knows its market coverage in Australia isn’t sufficient, but says it’ll add a number of models to meet tough targets in the future. The company is sporting a lean range at the minute, having recently axed the under-performing Micra, Pulsar, Altima and Y61 Patrol diesel, leaving it under-indexed in the shrinking – but still big-volume – passenger market.

Nissan Australia CEO Richard Emery departs, Stephen Lester flying in

Nissan Australia has today confirmed the departure of managing director and CEO, Richard Emery, and announced his successor, Stephen Lester. No explanation for Emery's exit has been offered, although it is known he is not moving to another position within the global Renault Nissan alliance. A spokesperson for the company declined to comment on the change in management.
