NEVS 9-3, 9-3X concepts unveiled: Electric Saab revival to enter production 2018

The NEVS 9-3 and NEVS 9-3X concepts have been revealed ahead of their debut later this month. Externally, the NEVS 9-3 models are distinguished from their Saab 9-3 forebears via a new bonnet, grille, slim LED headlights, front and rear bumpers, and tail-light designs. The company hasn't provided many details about the revived 9-3's drivetrain, except to say the car will have a driving range of around 300 kilometres.

NEVS unveils Saab 9-3 EV prototype

Cash-strapped car maker National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has revealed a Saab 9-3 EV prototype produced at its plant in Trollhatten. The unveiling of the 9-3 EV – one of a series of prototypes built in May – marks the beginning of the next phase in NEVS’ plan to mass-produce an electric model based on the old Saab 9-3. The 9-3 EV prototype teams a 100kW electric motor with a lithium-ion battery produced by Chinese company Beijing National Battery Technology.

Saab 9-3: leaked images reveal never-released third-gen model

Images purportedly revealing the planned design of the never-released 2013 Saab 9-3 have been leaked by a Swedish automotive website. Three low-resolution screenshots of the next-generation Saab 9-3 were published by Auto Motor und Sport, which claims to have obtained the images from a former Saab employee.

Saab has been saved single-handedly by a die-hard fan, again. Well, not exactly, but an avid Saab enthusiast did save his rolled Dodge Viper by fitting a Saab 9-3 SportCombi body to it, and called it the Saab 9-3 SRT10 MegaPower. Almost the same thing... Based on a damaged Dodge Viper SRT10, the Swedish owner decided one way to secure his Saab's future was to equip it with some of the underpinnings and running gear from the V10 Viper.

Spyker's plans for the future of Saab revealed

One week out from the General Meeting of Spyker shareholders, more information on the Dutch supercar maker’s plans for the future of Saab has come to light. Operating under the Saab Spyker name, both brands will retain independent model lines, with Saab to continue as a niche, premium range. Three models – 9-3, 9-4 and 9-5 – are all as good as production certainties.
