Rolls-Royce Cullinan drawing 'whole new dynamic' of customer

When it launched the Cullinan in May, the Rolls-Royce team boldly pitched it as the only purpose-built luxury SUV in the world. We're not sure what Bentley would have to say about that, but it appears the high-riding, high-sided Roller is already a success, drawing new customers to the brand. Speaking with CarAdvice at a local preview of the Cullinan in Melbourne, Ian Grant, Rolls-Royce client sales manager for Asia Pacific, said the car is attracting plenty of new business.

Speaking with Autocar company CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös said the line-up is now complete with the introduction of the Cullinan "high-sided vehicle", and there are currently no plans to expand the line-up further.

Rolls-Royce: Cullinan name confirmed for upcoming SUV

Rolls-Royce has confirmed it will name its new "high-sided car" the Cullinan – though we pretty much knew that already. Basically, the British marque has taken the 'Project' out of 'Project Cullinan', naming its new SUV after a sought-after African diamond extracted in the early 1900s. "The name Cullinan has been hiding in plain sight since we revealed it as the project name some years ago,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce.

Rolls-Royce 'Project Cullinan' SUV coming in 2019

The upcoming Rolls-Royce SUV, dubbed 'Project Cullinan' has been confirmed for a 2019 debut, the company has revealed. While the British luxury marque refuses to call it something as pedestrian as an SUV - rather referring to it as an "all-terrain, high-sided vehicle" - the new Rolls-Royce will aim to become the most opulent and desirable high-riding vehicle on sale when it launches sometime during 2019.
