2018 Nissan Leaf to be Australian image builder

By launching the new-second-generation Nissan Leaf technology "standard bearer" in Australia during 2018, the company aims to reclaim its status as an electric car pioneer and innovator. This comes after the company has clearly fallen behind the likes of Tesla - plus the major German luxury brands - in the public opinion stakes. Despite long reigning as the world's most popular EV, the outgoing Leaf is no longer as synonymous with emissions-free vehicles as it once was.

Nissan Australia still committed to passenger cars, new Pulsar sedan coming

Despite Nissan Australia currently offering just SUVs and sports cars, the company has stated it remains committed to offering passenger cars locally for the foreseeable future. Speaking with CarAdvice at the local launch of the updated 2017 X-Trail range, Nissan Australia chief, Richard Emery, said the company will offer passenger cars again soon. “We definitely have a passenger car strategy," he said.

The forthcoming Nissan Navara NP300 ute-based SUV may never come to Australia, despite the popularity of rugged off-roaders in our market.
