Renault Australia: 'every model new or updated by the end of 2020'

French carmaker Renault is about to jump start its Australian operations yet again – but this time the company will be boosted by the newest model range in the industry. In the space of just 12 months Renault’s line-up will be comprised of completely new or updated models. Some will be here before the end of this year. The all-new Renault Kadjar compact SUV and updated Renault Koleos mid-sized SUV are due in showrooms next month.

Renault considering high-performance Zoe

Renault is considering giving its city-focused Zoe EV a massive shot in the arm, with European reports suggesting the Zoe e-Sport concept could make production. Top Gearreports the e-Sport, a 340kW and 640Nm version of the otherwise rather vanilla Zoe, is still front of mind for Renault's electric vehicle boss, Gilles Normand. "The e-Sport was more to test the water, to show that you can EVs are not boring,” he told the British publication.

2020 Renault Zoe unveiled, here in 2020

The new Renault Zoe is hoping electric car fans are also lovers of the old saying "never judge a book by its cover". From the outside the Zoe looks to have hardly changed, but Renault has invested most of its time and effort changing what's under the skin. For the revised model, the Zoe comes standard with a 50kWh battery pack, which has a rated range of 390 kilometres according to the tougher WLTP testing cycle. Previously, the top-spec Zoe had a 41kWh battery.

Renault Zoe EV: Sales open to all, priced from $51,990

Renault Australia will start offering the pure-electric Zoe to regular Australian customers, moving away from its current fleet-only sales setup for the itsy-bitsy battery-powered city car. Speaking with CarAdvice at the opening of the world's first Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance joint parts distribution warehouse in Truganina, Melbourne, Renault's local managing director, Andrew Moore, confirmed the Zoe and Kangoo ZE will be offered to private buyers through select dealerships.
