An autonomous shuttle trial has kicked off at LaTrobe University in Bundoora, giving Victorians the chance to ride on a self-driving Navya bus.
The trial will be run on an existing transport route at La Trobe, and continues until July 2018. It's designed to gain a better understanding of how self-driving vehicles interact with other road users and, perhaps more importantly, the general public.

The 10 points in Melbourne's roads network most likely to have motorists seeing red have been ranked this week, with the release of the latest RACV Redspot survey.
No surprise for locals, Melbourne’s north-east hosts a massive six of the top ten ‘Redspots,’ located in the corridor from Clifton Hill to Greensborough and Templestowe.
Topping the list is the junction of the Eastern Freeway (M3), where it joins with Alexandra Parade and Hoddle Street.

The Australian Automobile Association (AAA) is calling on the government to direct an increased share of fuel excise towards land transport funding and road safety ahead of the upcoming national budget.
AAA executive director Andrew McKellar said it was “deeply concerning” that funding for roads and other land transport infrastructure was expected to be cut by 38 per cent – or more than $2.6 billion – in the 2012-2013 financial year.
