The Nissan Terra is no closer to being introduced in Australia – in this generation or beyond – because the cost to upgrade it to meet local standards is for now deemed prohibitively expensive.
The Nissan Terra is a seven-seat four-wheel-drive based on the Navara ute and went on sale overseas last year.
It is a direct rival to other ute-based seven-seat four-wheel drives such as the Isuzu MU-X(D-Max), Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (Triton), Ford Everest (Ranger) and Holden Trailblazer (Colorado).
The 2018 Nissan Terra has been launched in China this week, accompanied by new details about what makes this body-on-frame SUV tick.
For the first time we have details of the Terra's powertrain – it features a 'QR25' four-cylinder petrol engine making 135kW of power and 251Nm of torque.
