Nissan Australia boss criticises government leadership on electric vehicles – report

The head of Nissan Australia says the country is falling behind other nations in its adoption of zero-emission cars, due to a lack of leadership in Federal Government policies. "The UK, Norway, Canada, they have all taken a position to say we want to have this particular ambition [to embrace electric vehicles] and we want to guide our policy … to that end" Nissan Managing Director Stephen Lester told The Sydney Morning Herald. "And I think at this moment, we don’t have that here."

Renault Mégane eVision concept launched in France, production model slated for 2022

Renault has unveiled the Mégane eVision concept, with a production variant slated for launch in 2022. Built on the all-new CMF-EV modular platform – which it shares with the similar-spec Nissan Ariya – power is sent to the front wheels via a 160kW electric motor. Voltage is drawn from a 60kWh lithium ion battery pack, which, according to the manufacturer, is structurally integrated into the chassis and helps absorb energy in the event of a side collision.

EPA reports lower range for Porsche Taycan Turbo

Porsche’s electric range claim for the Taycan Turbo have been dealt a blow by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The government agency has assessed the mid-range Taycan and determined its total electric range to be just 201 miles (323km). That’s substantially lower than the Porsche’s 450km rating under the WLTP cycle, identical to the rating of the Tesla Model S Standard Range.
