2020 Mini Countryman spied again

It’s been three years since Mini introduced its second-generation Countryman, so it’s time for a facelift. Mini testers covered up the front of this example with gratuitous amounts of tape but we've obtained close-up photographs of the car with the front grille and bumper details exposed (below), and it's very much a case of "same old".

2020 Mini Clubman JCW pricing and specs

Mini's fastest-ever production car, the new Clubman JCW, will touch down in Australia before the end of 2019, priced from $57,900 before on-road costs. Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the Clubman JCW now makes 225kW and 450Nm, an increase of 55kW over the outgoing model. The engine is shared with the BMW X2 M35i, as is the eight-speed automatic transmission. There's also a mechanical front differential to help put the power down.

Mini Countryman Blackheath Edition on sale from $59,990

Mini Australia has announced another limited-run special in the form of the Countryman Blackheath Edition, which is now on sale priced from $59,990 drive-away. Just 60 units will be heading Down Under, featuring a range of black-themed add-ons and accessories from the Mini options range as standard equipment. Mini says the special model takes 'inspiration' from Blackheath in south-east London.

Mini designer: Our models don't have to be 'mini'

While many criticise modern Minis for not being as 'mini' as the original, the company's lead for exterior design argues the requirements of modern cars and emerging powertrain technology don't mean the brand's cars need to be 'mini' anymore.
