Mercedes-Benz GLK interior spied

The interior of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz GLK has been uncovered in a revealing set of spy shots. The images, captured by CarAdvice's spy photographers in Germany, confirm the cabin of the mid-sized luxury SUV will be almost identical to that of the next-generation C-Class (revealed in detail last month) on which the GLK will be based.

Mercedes-Benz GLK could miss Australia at second attempt

The Mercedes-Benz GLK may once again escape Australian buyers looking for a medium-sized luxury SUV from the three-pointed star when the second-generation model goes on sale by 2014. Mercedes’ original GLK (main picture) couldn’t be converted for right-hand-drive markets because of an engineering oversight relating to the four-wheel-drive system.

2009 Mercedes GLK spy shots

Our spy photographers have captured a scantily clad 2009 Mercedes GLK undergoing testing in snowy conditions. Whilst it may look near identical to the Mercedes GL, this GLK prototype is considerably smaller, hence the suffix 'K' which is a diminutive of the German "kurz," meaning short. The GLK is Mercedes' answer to the BMW X3 and Audi's forthcoming Q5, and utilises technical components from the highly acclaimed C-Class.
